- Today, it was a slow day at work. I had one ticket to solve and worked on it whole day. Good thing at the end of the day, I managed to create a pull request. Not reviewed though it just sits there building, waiting for reviewers.
- After work I managed to run three rounds in my usual route. I started running again last week. First week, I did two rounds. Today I added one more round to that. I find that when I go back to running and I have not ran in a long time -- when I sweat I feel itchy. I'm sure it'll be the same for other people as well.
- At the start of the year I did yoga in January, this month I planned to do yoga still and put in jogging in between. So that's three days of yoga and two days of jogging. I find that I can't do both. Something always gives. I noticed I am more inclined to do jogging over yoga. I think it is the general theme if you spread yourself too thin. You end up doing little bits of stuff here and there but not going deep into one. I should really put more focus on the stuff I want to accomplish. Maybe that's jogging for me right now.
- I also set a goal to do more piano lessons -- this is not happening right now. I am torn between physical stuff like I mentioned above and piano. I don't ever touch the piano. Right now, it's just wishful thinking. I've been meaning to for the past year and now this year as well. No progress in that.
- I miss Kai. I haven't seen him for a while now. Maybe since last year. I've been meaning to catch up with him over ramen but no dice. I just don't have enough real friends here in Melbourne to hang out with.
- Today I received an unexpected gift from RACV. I received a different coloured card in the mail. Originally I had a blue one, now it's a bronze. It signifies 5 years of loyalty with RACV. I think it means more discounts for us with our favourite holiday provider. My kids love the hotels RACV have. I am so stoked that we're already 5 years here in Australia. Tempus fugit!
- Home deposit. Australians are full of immigrants that wants to have a place of their own. It's not cheap! Specially if you come from a third world country and don't have the capital drop on a new home. Currently this is the biggest hurdle that's in front of us. We are both working but with a family of five, saving for a home deposit can really be challenging. Sacrifices will have to be made. My wife and I are working on a 9-5 job. I am researching on how to add an extra stream of income to atleast help the fund grow faster. So far, all I can think of is asking for extra work in my current job which means being on call when nobody wants to. This helps a bit, but I think weekend work where it's more directed to my interests are very enticing.
- I wouldn't want another programming job because that would mean I would be chasing two deadlines instead of one. I could probably do it, but for sure one will suffer. I don't want to jeopardize my bread and butter over a side project.
- Tomorrow, my uncle will visit us from the Philippines. I am happy to have him here but it'll be a very short visit. One whole day and two nights. Then he's off to Sydney to visit even more relatives which I haven't seen before. To be fair, I haven't been to Sydney anyway. I'd love to, given the opportunity.
- I'm happy to be writing again. Let's continue this tomorrow.
