  5.
  6. +nationalparksign __ "Sufficient proof" in this situation would be footage of the gentleman walking with his cane and then falling onto the tracks.
  7.
  8. Perhaps that's what happened, but without that footage (which must exist by way of CCTV) we are forced to trust a whole lot of "heroes" and "Good Samaritans" who may be more interested in making viral videos and/or promoting themselves or some kind of social cause.
  9.
  10. Also, whether it was the purpose or not - this incident serves to dissuade people from seeking "sufficient proof" (where it would exist):
  11.
  12. Anyone who hints that they'd need to view the original CCTV footage of an unfortunate blind man tumbling onto some train tracks and perhaps breaking his legs is going to seem very heartless and unnecessarily cynical.
  13.
  14. Only a self-radicalised "conspiracy nutcase" would consider the possibility this incident wasn't genuine. And that's the point: how it has been presented on Instagram encourages us to form an "unjustified belief", so that we are primed to accept lies when they are presented in this same special way.
  15.
  16. __
  17.
  18. *Prediction:* Decades from now I can foresee a reality where if an incident like this occurs the *"central algorithm"* confiscates or erases footage recorded by individuals of an incident.
  19.
  20. It would be clever enough to know who filmed it, and whether they actually filmed it or were filming something else (so that unrelated recordings are unaffected).
  21.
  22. By "confiscate" it could be that the central algorithm "takes" the footage from you (for "legal/police/insurance purposes") and leaves you with an option to "appeal" if you feel it was taken in error.
  23.
  24. I.e., if you didn't record the incident, but the algorithm mistakenly determined you did a human would then review what you recorded.
  25.
  26. All of this is possible and would ensure "sufficient proof" can be withheld or otherwise obscured in a world where everyone is walking around with digital recording equipment (watches, body cams, "phones", eye-wear, and so forth).
  27.
  28. I can also foresee the "central algorithm" mandating "privacy zones" such as public toilets, change-rooms, etc. where these devices simply cannot record at those locations (thus forgetful people need not worry about turning off their devices, and perverts need not be a nuisance).
  29.
  30. Technology makes all of this possible. _You'll see!_
