  1. Real Name and Talent: Desmond Rier
  2.
  3. Biological Gender: Male
  4.
  5. Full Personality: Under a layer of cynicism and doubt towards others lies a lonely boy who simply doesn’t know how to make friends. As much as he wants to change, Desmond’s past experiences with people have proven to him time and time again that relationships mean nothing when it comes to personal gain. He assumes the worst of people because that’s how he grew up. Despite his upbringing, Desmond wishes to change. He wants to believe that there’s good in the world and that people can be kind for the sake of being kind instead of trying to fish for favors.
  6.
  7. Desmond is lonely. He wants to make friends, but he’s already been betrayed by so many people that he’s afraid of what might happen if he opens himself up again. He’s scared that people are going to try to use him or hurt him, so he pushes them away without giving them a chance to show him how good people can be. Desmond hates being left in the dark and not knowing things, so he makes attempts to gain information, even if it’s through suspicious or intrusive means.
  8.
  9. Full Backstory: Desmond Rier’s story begins in Shoreline Maximum Security Prison. Hidden from the wardens and completely out of the knowledge of the other prisoners, Garnet Rier, a master con artist and thief, and Yoshitune Chiba, a nefarious serial killer with a knack for committing gruesome and unsolvable crimes, had a child within the secrecy of their cell. While they initially planned to use Desmond as a scapegoat to escape, Garnet's motherly instincts kicked in and she begged Yoshitsune to help her care for Desmond in secret. He begrudgingly accepted, training Desmond in the way of trickery and escapism, even from a very young age. Desmond was homeschooled by his mother, but his father put him through much more rigorous training.
  10. Yoshitsune had Desmond find and dig secret tunnels throughout the walls of the prison. Easy was to get to and from certain parts of the prison, hidden extraordinarily well. Holes in the ceiling, behind bookcases, inside and behind toilets, even to the main manager’s office. Yoshitsune and Desmond had practically full access to the entire Shoreline Prison. This was his training ground. Yoshitsune trained Desmond within the walls, teaching him the art of stealth and escapism. His father taught him how to run, how to pick locks, how to steal and how to lie. Most importantly, Yoshitsune taught Desmond how to escape - a skill that Desmond would use for the rest of his life.
  11. Garnet was much more caring than Yoshitsune. She would bake foods for him and read him stories, placing him in small, stone cubbies to hide him from the wardens. She taught him math, english, spanish, and japanese first. Communication is key and Garnet wanted Desmond to be prepared when he would eventually leave the confines of the prison. He was introduced to books and music at a young age, instilling an affinity for the creative arts. He and his mother had a very healthy and loving relationship, unlike his father who was more of a personal trainer than anything. While he wasn’t as interested in his father as he was with his mother, he still loved his family very much.
  12. Desmond would observe the other prisoners as the days went by between his training. He noted how each prisoner acted and learned them all by name. He learned a lot of things about them. Their personalities, their likes and dislikes, their beliefs and triggers. He learned so much from just observing, but had to keep quiet such that he wouldn’t be discovered. He learned about the tricks and traps that people made to get away with their crimes. He studied how they acted and took notes on their mistakes. He learned their regrets and fears and even helped some of them get over their trauma by leaving in his wake notes filled with kind words. From Desmond’s surveillance, he made a set of rules. A moral code that he made sure to follow.
  13. DESMOND’S CODE
  14. Rule #1 - It is never acceptable to kill unless it is in self defense. Do not kill on impulse. Do not kill on intuition. Injury and subduction is acceptable.
  15. Rule #2 - Do not divulge secrets unless the situation demands it. Do not divulge other people’s secrets unless they allow you to or unless the situation demands for the information to be revealed.
  16. Rule #3 - Steal with a purpose. Do not steal as revenge for petty grudge. Do not steal with the intent of causing harm or distress.
  17. Rule #4 - Never get attached to anything. Time will take it eventually.
  18. Rule #5 - Never go out of your way to make other’s lives worse. Minor inconveniences and pranks are fine, but actively insulting others for their apparent and obvious faults is unacceptable.
  19. With these five rules, Desmond governed his life to become a good person. He dedicated himself to never getting thrown in a cell or being branded with a name. This code would be the philosophy he follows to this day, only breaking it once. The aforementioned notes of kindness that Desmond secretly slipped to the prisoners caused rumors to spread of a benevolent watcher who watched over the prisoners. The Shoreline Wardens caught on to the rumors and monitored the paper used to write the notes. With this action, the battle between a young, teenage Desmond and a maximum security prison began.
  20.
  21. Desmond eventually found out about the monitoring of the paper and was forced to stop until the wardens ceased their monitoring. Unfortunately for him, Shoreline didn’t quit that easily. They searched the room where the paper was taken from, searching the room up and down for some way that the security cameras didn’t catch him. The hole was in the roof, blocked by the hanging light fixture. To keep the wardens from finding the secret passageways, Desmond blocked off all of the entrances and exits in an attempt to hide any evidence that he had existed. In his haste, he left behind copious amounts of DNA evidence. With the evidence gathered from Desmond’s hair, fingerprints, and a trail that led into the bathroom, the Shoreline wardens caught Desmond on the toilet. A young teenager using the bathroom as though it was his school and, in a way, it was.
  22. Desmond was captured and taken into police custody. He was charged for breaking and entering a governmental compound and stealing property, even if it was simply paper or food. He was taken to court and placed on trial. He had no money and no attorney. Neither did his family. The trial ended in a Guilty verdict and Desmond was taken in to become an official prisoner of Shoreline Maximum Security Prison. He wasn’t placed with his family or the prisoners he had looked over so much, but rather in the deepest, darkest depths of Shoreline. Desmond was moved to the Rainbow Sector, a sector set aside for only the worst of criminals. Desmond was taken to the fourth floor, the Green Floor, and shackled with five metal rings. Two on his wrists, two on his ankles, and one around his neck. The collar has a glowing green “4” on the front of it, just below his Adam’s Apple. As the rings clicked into place, Desmond was no longer Desmond. He was G-4, the fourth prisoner of the Green Floor.
  23.
  24. The collars themselves were deadly tools. There were three codeword that activated an electrical discharge that subdues G-4. There are three levels that the shock rings can reach with each codeword activating a different level, though none of them were lethal. There is, however, one more level to these rings. By speaking the prisoner’s name, the rings will activate a death protocol, injecting the prisoner with a fatal poison. This poison is also administered should any of the rings be tampered with or taken off the body, be it by dismemberment or otherwise. The rings that Desmond was given branded him with a name and an easy way to punish him if he stepped out of line. It wasn’t the shock itself that hurt, but the knowledge that if you stepped out of line, your code word would be announced and all the other prisoners would be able to use it against you. THAT was the true punishment.
  25. The Green Floor itself was less of a floor and more of the inside of a mansion. In stark contrast to the prison, the inmates on the Green Floor were placed in a much more natural setting in order to rehabilitate them, even if the progress towards full rehabilitation was marginal at best. There, G-4 stayed for four months, the first of which was mostly of him observing the other prisoners. During that first month, three more prisoners came to the Green Floor, one of which would become G-4’s best friend. G-7, a small boy with short, messy, blonde hair and a bright, cheery mind was the first to actually approach G-4. He was very shy at first, choosing to outcast himself from everyone and eventually sat down and spoke with G-4.
  26.
  27. Through the months, a professional-looking woman with long, silver hair named G-2 joined the small group. In their time together, the three of them divulged their stories to each other, telling tales of how and why they were arrested. While G-4’s was rather underwhelming, the other two held interesting backgrounds. G-2 was an attorney at law who was framed for the death of her ex husband. After that case, her clients all lost interest in her and she resorted to felling her own company and taking the money. She was a serial hacker who destroyed businesses across America. G-7, on the other hand, was much more direct in his crime. He was caught and charged with only a single degree of murder, but the case itself was one of the most violent cases some police officers had seen. G-7 had killed his father and, after smashing the skull and spreading it across the yard, dismembered the body and replaced a mannequin with the parts. The dead body was then used in a school play. G-7 was the only one smiling.
  28. The three spent their time talking about philosophy, learning how to cook, solving puzzles, and living a normal life like an actual family. It wasn’t long until he started to get comfortable. Four months into G-4’s time in the Green Floor, he discovered what betrayal was like. He found G-7, stabbed in the chest multiple times and stuffed inside of a hollowed out mannequin. The disgusting sight of his best friend’s corpse sparked something in G-4. When G-4 finally found the killer, it pained him heavily. G-2 had killed G-7. Both of G-4’s best friends had killed each other. In a fit of absolute rage, G-4 took the nearest thing to his arm - a fire extinguisher - and smashed G-2’s chest in with it, breaking her ribs and puncturing her lungs with her own bones.
  29.
  30. G-4 had killed G-2 on-camera. All the security cameras were trained on the two. He was caught, red handed breaking his own code. The wardens filed in, one by one, armed with guns and batons despite the codewords being available. They were grunts. Simple foot soldiers who only followed orders. G-4 was lucky that they didn’t know his name. Soon enough, his name would be blasted through the speakerphones, triggering his punishment. He was four floors down in the Rainbow Sector. G-4 managed to shake off the wardens who were chasing him and slipped into a vent that lead up into the Yellow Floor. There, he assaulted a warden who was patrolling there, took their keycard, and left the Rainbow Sector.
  31. Unfortunately, G-4’s escape was far from over. The wardens had surrounded the elevator’s exit. With no other way to go, G-4 hid above the elevator, squeezing himself into the tight gap where the pulley system controlled the elevator. There, he stayed for hours, waiting for Shoreline to run around aimlessly, attempting to find him. For an entire day, G-4 stayed above the elevator, steaking out in the shaft. When the weakest looking, lightest, and smallest warden entered the elevator alone, G-4 dropped down and knocked him out, bringing him back up into the elevator shaft. G-4 took the warden’s clothes and equipment, knocking him out and locking the vent’s grate back in place.
  32.
  33. G-4, now garbed in a police uniform, walked out of the Rainbow Sector unscathed. He didn’t have the time to save his family. He didn’t have the privilege of bringing anyone with him. G-4 simply escaped through the hidden passageways and into the maze within the walls. He reemerged in the staff break room and, using the ID he stole off the warden, clocked out and left through the front door. He used the warden’s keys to take a car and drive off. Having never driven before, G-4 had to pull over multiple times until he finally got the hang of driving.
  34. G-4 drove until the car broke down in the middle of nowhere. There, he ditched the car, taking whatever he found useful before destroying the car completely. G-4 wandered aimlessly, living off the occasional roadkill and berries. Through his time in the forest and wilderness, secluded from humanity, G-4 learned valuable tactics about survival. He forced himself to learn how to sleep in places like trees and in foliage. He learned what plants are safe to eat and which ones aren’t. Here, he found a hobby – aromatherapy. With what little G-4 had, he calmed himself by incinerating local plants, quickly learning which plants gave soothing aromas and pungent ones. It kept him sane in his time of need.
  35.
  36. Soon enough, G-4 found what would later become his family. He found a large circus with loads of people. To prevent being caught, G-4 took the ashes of his most recent aromatherapy session and smeared them over the green “4” on his collar. After he did so, G-4 set himself to work, pickpocketing wallets and stealing food. While he was an excellent escape artist, G-4 wasn’t the subtlest in theft, despite his mother’s teachings. When infiltrating the main tent, attempting to take food from the staff room, he knocked over and broke a blender, alerting the ringmaster to his position. G-4 ran away from the ringmaster before he could be caught, disappearing into the forest with his goods.
  37. That night, G-4 awoke to a heaviness pressing down on his chest. The more he woke up, the better he could see that what was pressing down on him was the paw of a massive lion. Next to the lion was a woman with long, blonde hair. She wore pink and black checkered clothes and a top hat that always seemed to be falling over. A magician’s uniform, though it seemed more like she was a lion tamer than anything. She called out to a person behind her and, after a moment, the ringmaster, garbed in grey hair and a tuxedo, walked up to G-4 as though he was a business partner.
  38.
  39. G-4 expected to be turned back to the police. He expected the ringmaster to call the cops for theft. Instead, the ringmaster told the girl to call off her beast, much to the surprise of the two of them. The ringmaster introduced himself as Koga Masato, a former Ultimate Magician who formed the magical troupe known as “Hestus”. He introduced the woman as Anne Loch, an animal trainer. No ultimate, but she was certainly good at what she did. G-4 didn’t know this at the time, but Anne was G-2’s sister. The sister of the one he killed.
  40. Koga offered G-4 a choice. Work off all the money and damage he did or be turned into the police. G-4 saw the choice as less of an option and more of an ultimatum. He took the job, leaving behind his name as a prisoner and donned a new name. Clover Masato. Though he was working as punishment, Koga treated Clover like a son, introducing him to everyone in Hestus. At first, Anne disliked Clover for getting off so easily. As a form of extra punishment, she locked Clover in rooms, each time more excessively and heavily, and each time Clover escaped.
  41.
  42. After a month of being locked in rooms and escaping, Anne gave up. Her efforts had only given Clover more fame as a talented escape artist. She apologized to Clover, asking for his forgiveness. Additionally, she gave Clover the option to leave. He had worked off his debt in spades, but Clover didn’t want to leave. He had found a home with Hestus. He saw Koga as the father he wished he had and… he saw Anne as someone he could fall in love with. Anne was taken aback by Clover’s confession of love, but eventually warmed up to him over time. Through the months, Anne and Clover became a set. They did everything together and she even helped Clover during his debut performance as an official member of the troupe.
  43. Months had passed since Clover had joined Hestus. He had made a name for himself as “Clover the Untouchable” on the stage. While his fame grew through Hestus, Shoreline was quick on his trail. They planned to execute Clover and make it look like an assassination. As the people filed into the theatre where Hestus would perform, Koga noticed a suspicious individual taking a seat in the very back with a rather large object. He felt that they were after Clover, seeing as he was on the run from the police for something unknown to him. Koga worked fast, changing the schedule to keep Clover from appearing onstage until the final act.
  44.
  45. The finale involved three volunteers to appear onstage. Koga would take each volunteer by the hair and tear their skin off as though it was a suit, revealing a member of Hestus underneath. The volunteer would reappear in their chair. Clover would be in the final volunteer. As Koga reached for the final volunteer’s head, he saw in the corner of his eye the shady individual taking aim. In less than a second, everything happened at once. Koga tore his arm down, revealing Clover. The Shoreline assassin fired. Koga stepped in front of Clover, directly in the path of the bullet. His body was knocked backwards, pushing Clover to the ground under his weight. Koga Masato had died, sacrificing himself to protect his adopted son.
  46. The theatre exploded with panic. Spectators scrambled to escape, pushing the Shoreline assassin out before he could get in another shot. Clover simply laid there under Koga’s body, staring blankly at the corpse of someone he called a father, covered in his blood. He didn’t attend Koga’s funeral. Instead, feeling as though he was a danger to Hestus, Clover left, stealing whatever food he could carry. Clover the Untouchable was gone, leaving Anne alone. Before Koga died, he wrote a letter entrusting Hestus to Clover. Clover never read the note.
  47.
  48. Clover wandered the streets, changing his name once more. He enrolled in a public high school, hiding his anklets and bracelets with black clothes and long sleeves. He stayed as hidden as possible, moving through the saddest, emptiest year of his life. A silent year of homework, sleeping on the streets, stealing food and money from other students, staying a ghost. Clover didn’t care. As long as he got enough power to get back at Shoreline. As long as he got enough money to bail out his parents. As long as he could expose Shoreline for Koga’s death. He wanted vengeance. He wanted closure. He wanted a happy ending.
  49. During his bland days in public school, Clover gave in to temptation and got himself two tattoos at a parlor in a farmer’s market. The market itself was rather shady, holding all kinds of different things that one couldn’t find in the supermarket. Clover got both of his arms tattooed. On his left arm was a Chinese dragon wrapping around it that symbolizes his determination and strength. On his right arm was a tattoo of a phoenix that represented his multiple rebirths from Desmond to G-4 to Clover. Maybe soon he’d rise from the ashes once more. Maybe then he wouldn’t have to lose another friend.
  50.
  51. Clover stayed close to his school, sleeping under radiators and vents, stealing food and money from unsuspecting citizens, and laying as low as possible. Clover never took chances when it came to keeping a school life. While the other kids in his class see him more as a loner and an outcast, Clover devotes his life to finding a way to take down Shoreline without revealing his existence and getting his family out of prison.
  52. While Clover may not know of this, his parents brought more life into the world. Clover has a little sister named Malory who was born after his escape. She was given the same treatment that Clover was once given, being hidden from society and the Shoreline wardens who were now on high alert. She’s still undiscovered by Shoreline as of now, but she’s learned a lot from her mother. Yoshitsune and Garnet plan to set her free with a friend’s family when she’s old enough to adopt a mission to get both them and Clover back together.
  53. Important Secrets: The rings Clover wears are shock rings. The words to activate the rings are “javelin”, which is a light shock, “jester”, which is a moderate shock, and “alder”, which is a heavy shock. Clover’s real name is Desmond Rier. Saying his full name within earshot of him will kill him through the poison in his bracelets. Clover killed his best friend and lover’s sister in a fit of rage. Clover has evaded the law for most of his life.
  54. Important People in their life:
  55. [GARNET RIER] - Desmond’s birth mother. She raised him from birth until his capture in Shoreline Maximum Security Prison. Desmond wants nothing more than her safety and release from Shoreline.
  56.
  57. [YOSHITSUNE CHIBA] - Desmond’s birth father. He was a harsh man who initially raised Desmond with selfish intent, but Desmond remembers him as a loyal man. Desmond and Yoshitsune love each other devoutly and the two would give life and limb for each other.
  58.
  59. [G-2] - Rosetta Loch, one of Desmond’s best friends in Shoreline and Anne Loch’s sister. Desmond almost loved her before she killed G-7. After that incident, Desmond’s opinion of her is less than stellar.
  60.
  61. [G-7] - Jakob Warfield, Desmond’s best friend. Desmond trusts G-7 wholeheartedly and uses him as a moral compass.
  62.
  63. [KOGA MASATO] - Desmond’s adoptive father and a former Ultimate Magician. He gave Desmond a home, a job, and a family. Desmond wasn’t the warmest to Koga while he was alive, but swore vengeance over his corpse, showcasing his loyalty to him.
  64.
  65. [ANNE LOCH] - Rosetta’s sister and Desmond’s lover. Desmond fell in love with Anne after a month-long competition. Desmond wants to spend his time with her because she makes him truly happy. Unbeknownst to Desmond, Anne learned about him killing her sister and notified Shoreline, leaking information about Desmond for his assassination, inadvertently killing Koga in the process.
  66.
  67. [YANMA UBOSHI] - The clown of Hestus. He was the first to try to make friends with Clover. While Clover thinks he’s rather annoying, he knows that Yanma cares for him. The two of them aren’t the best of friends, but they do care about each other.
  68. Likes: Aromatherapy, Chains, Contraband, Carbonated drinks/ soft drinks, Logic puzzles, Magic, Fantasy/ Mystery novels, Salads
  69.
  70. Dislikes: Mannequins, Betrayal, Love at first sight, Soap operas, Non-Fiction books, Animal masks, Pickles
  71.
  72. 5 (or more) Monocoin machine items:
  73.
  74. Puzzle Lock - A hefty brass lock that comes with a set of 3 keys. There's all kinds of ways to open it.
  75.
  76. Model Gun - A realistic looking plastic model of a revolver. It weighs about as much, too. It doesn't fire, though.
  77.
  78. Golden Incense Burner - An incense burner painted gold. You can place any candle in it and it'll smell good.
  79.
  80. Deck Of Cards - A normal deck of 52 cards. Good for all kinds of games and tricks!
  81.
  82. Plastic Blade - A sword made out of plastic. It doesn't hurt much if it hits you, but it's fun to swing around.
  83.
  84. Skills that will be useful in a Killing Game: Desmond can use sleight of hand magic tricks to hide objects on his person. He can psychoanalyze people from afar, a skill he's picked up after spending his young years observing prisoners. Desmond can escape from nearly any situation. If there's a gap, Desmond can get through it.
  85. Strengths: Physically fit, good judge of character, good cook
  86.
  87. Weaknesses: Untrusting of others, doesn't believe in teamwork, bad attitude.
  88.
  89. Investigation Behavior: Desmond would rather work alone during investigations, but he loves information even more than escapism and magic. He isn’t afraid of the dead and will investigate as deep as he needs to in preparation for the trial.
  90.
  91. Trial Behavior: Desmond keeps a level head in trials. He tends to keep quiet unless he knows people are going off track, to which he will insult them and tell them the answer he thinks is right.
  92.
  93. Likeliness to be a victim (1-10) and why: 3. Desmond has been around murderers for a sizeable chunk of his life. He knows the tricks of the trade and what kinds of setups people use for their crimes. Using this information, Desmond knows how to avoid them.
  94.
  95. Likeliness to be a culprit (1-10) and why: 2. It would conflict with Desmond's code of ethics to kill, though a hard-hitting motive would definitely incite some monologues or even have him act as an accomplice.
  96.
  97. Could they be the traitor and why?: Absolutely. Desmond wants to get back at Shoreline for killing Koga, but he also wants his parents to be safe. If someone has enough power to run a killing game, then they would surely have enough power to break out a few criminals. Desmond would gladly betray his friends if it meant saving his family and ending Shoreline.
  98.
  99. Could they be the mastermind and why?: No. Unless Shoreline themselves is mastermind this whole affair to kill Desmond, I don't think Desmond would be the mastermind. It would go against his code of morals.(edited)
