  7. MY VISION FOR MY CLASS/SCHOOL (Why I want to run/what I want to do)
  8. As one of the leading influences of the student council and student body, an executive officer must be able to make bold changes and decisions while considering both sides of a given situation. One of the major issues I have noticed throughout my two years of high school student council is structure of general meetings. It seems especially this year that many people were showing up to the meeting as simply a requirement as a club representative and receiving information that could easily be obtained through emails. I would hope to reformat the style of the meetings, which are the central image of our council, into a more active and pro-creative place by increasing interaction among members. We could allow for people to make proposals for committee ideas rather than simply having decisions being made for them, thus increasing the potential of new ideas outside the limited thought zone of few individuals. This would increase interest in meetings and grow student council participation significantly as less people are focused on simply attaining hours. Hour should also be less about bringing in donations and rather staying to volunteer which most definitely should count more.
  9. Another general addition I would like to propose is general student body school spirit. We have done a large step in increasing this by introducing pep rallies last year, however, I believe if we are able to move these to a larger venue like the warrior bowl we may move people away from the cafeteria for homework time and focusing on a time to shine on student achievement. At pep rallies, in addition to athletic achievement, I would also like to put focus on the achievement of other organizations. Our student body is too diverse and unique to simply ignore these other fantastic achievements even if only academic. For example, clubs like DECA or Robotics and organizations like all-state band and orchestra.
  10. Specific to treasurer I would like to run student council concessions at events like Mr. Warrior instead of outsourcing it to other organizations, thus maximizing overall profits for our organization to fund our large expenditures. I also believe that if it were necessary to increase funds we may be able to do a fundraiser like world’s finest chocolate, which is well known around the school, sells in high volumes, and has a fantastic margin.

  13. MY QUALIFICATIONS (What makes you the best candidate for the job?)
  14. When I joined student council freshman year, I was really unsure about what the organization really is about. The officers were seemed very isolated and I didn’t really feel like I knew anyone. This year, I have gotten the experience to get to know many great new people and learn what it is like to work with others. I have had many interactions with current officers such as Austin and Jessica and I have learned what it is like to be an executive officer. The organization has truly grown substantially and I would like to continue this growth as an executive officer.
  15. I have been regarded as one of the leading figures in my trumpet section in band, and have gained the respect of my peers after various activities. These include selling over fifty trumpet t-shirts designed and marketed by me (which we ended up with a profit to buy our band director one), gaining funds from over forty people to purchase a section music speaker, and leading the sales of mulch for our band where our section accounted for over fifty percent of the band’s final profit. I have done all these efforts despite not holding any kind of “title” because of my own motivations and activism.
  16. This year I will admit I was less active in student council as in comparison to last year. However, this was due to my own inability to balance the work load of vigorous IB classes such as APUSH, and extracurriculars such as band, SkillsUSA, and student council. If I were elected, I am committed enough to the position that I would drop the IB program as to retain the participation in all extracurricular in addition to the elective of computer science which I plan to study in college. This is to make space in my schedule for the student council block.
  17. I have additionally proved my organization and responsibility when at the beginning of the year voluntarily cleaned up the student council email account and organized everything into filters while removing outdated emails. I wish to extend my positive influence towards fellow officers to build on each other’s talents while avoiding procrastination and increase productivity. I am one always to take responsibility for my own downfalls when a situation does go as unplanned but I believe with enough preparation we can prevent these occasions. With my proactive attitude and efficient work ethic’s I believe I am solely the best candidate for the job.
