- "Well, here we are."
- You pull into an empty parking space and look over at the passenger's seat. There she is, your girlfriend, Shiori Novella. It's sad to think about, but she's going on vacation starting today and unfortunately you couldn't arrange the time to go with her. The two of you wanted to spend as much time together as possible so you're dropping her off at the airport.
- "I don't want to go, did I pack everything? How many pairs of underwear did I have again? Should we go home and get more?"
- "Shiori, it'll be fine, really." You put your hand on top of hers in reassurance as she begins to panic. "I'll be fine." You know she's worried about you, but you've been determined to see her off as best you can ever since you heard of the proposed trip.
- The two of you get out of the car and you gather her suitcase from the trunk and you start to walk together toward the departure terminal. You drop her suitcase off at check-in and while she's talking to the staff at the desk you retreat to sit on a bench a small distance away.
- "I'm not going to make it." You mutter to yourself, thinking of the nine days ahead. You know she's promised to try contact you whenever possible, but you don't know when that'll be. Or how often mind you. You think of the lonely nights, your empty bed, the warmth she bought into your life lost, and very quickly you find yourself in a depressive state. Your mind wanders through all of the fond memories you've had together, not noticing that she's finished and has walked up to you.
- "Hey, hey." Shiori calls out to you, but you don't notice. "Hey, anon. You alright?" Your trip down memory lane is only interrupted by the feeling of her hand against your cheek. That's right, you've got to be strong. For Shiori, for yourself, but for Shiori mostly. "What's up? Ready to go to the terminal then?" You force out your weakest smile, but you swear she can see through you, her golden eyes piercing your very thoughts. She nods and grabs your hand and for the moment, the two of you walk silently, side by side, your fingers locked and sealed, though they'll soon be separated for over a week.
- When you reach the departure gate, you reluctantly let go of her hand as she turns to face you. "Now anon, while I'm gone, I want you to take care of yourself. Eat. Rest. Do your work and have fun. I'll do my best to contact you when I can. So yeah, I'll miss you and I'll see you when I come back. So until then..." Her voice drops off as she tears up a little, but determined not to let you see her cry she turns around and walks off through the gate. That's it then. She's gone. Out of sight. You start the walk back toward your car, the world seeming a little less colorful than it was moments before. She didn't even give you a goodbye ki-
- "Anon!" Her voice reaches you first, but before you can turn around something crashes into you. It's... a person? It takes you a moment or two, but you realize who it is. It's Shiori, she has thrown her arms around you and is hugging you tightly. Before you have a chance to ask her what's wrong, she moves her arms around your neck and pulls your face down to hers. "I'm glad you were still here, I know you want this."
- And then you kiss. A warm and comforting kiss. The colors flow back into the world as the two of you part and she releases you from her grasp. "Okay, I've got to go now." and with that she's off again. However, you feel better. You can't quite explain why, but all of those depressive downer thoughts are gone, and only two thoughts remain.
- 1. You love Shiori Novella.
- 2. You're going to make it.
