Matthew Garner was born in Los Santos, in Davis Medical Center in 2001. He has little to no memories of his father who left when he was 3. His mother got pregnant with him at a young age, in her early twenties. She had little to no qualifications at the time. His mother worked at a bank for most of his life. Matthew started school and began to navigate his way through life. He had some bumps along the way, with his mother dating the wrong kind of men and being physically attacked sometimes. This exposed him to some of the evils in this world. Luckily, this came to a halt at about the time when Matthew was getting large enough to step in. His mother married a man who later became his step father, a lawyer with a decent salary. His relationship with his step father was pretty rocky and not stable, as his step father was constantly belittling him and bullying him verbally. As he started to get older, he began to participate in sports, and was more interested in doing that than going to class. He did have a job in his eleventh year as a pizza delivery driver, but it was rather shortlived as Matthew hated the hours. Matthew also spent a sizeable amount of time slacking off and playing video games rather than doing homework. Matthew was a master procrastinator, always putting tasks off until it was too late, and then finally rushing everything. When he wasn't at school or doing any of the other prescribed activities, Matthew was babysitting for his younger siblings. Matthew usually held a C average throughout High School, with the odd B. He always put the bare minimum effort regarding schooling. Matthew wasn't always the smartest with setting realistic goals, wanting to go ahead and play in the NBA, but his mother and step father put his dream down, wanting him to get a real stable job. He was upset with how they felt about his dream, but eventually realized after some thinking this wasn't a realistic goal and was a lot of work, and there was a risk of everything going wrong.  He eventually graduated from high school, but was jobless and just playing video games and basketball all day, much to his parents dissaproval. He felt directionless and really didn't know what to do with his life and did not have the talent to continue along.  After he graduated high school, the nagging from both his stepfather and his mother continued. Eventually, he got tired of the nagging, but he didn't want to go to college or university for years to get a good job. Garner luckily came across a LSSD recruiting video. Curious, he did some more research and looked into the minimum requirements and saw the big salary numbers, with the minimum requirements being pretty tame compared to most jobs. Garner believed it was the best shot he had and decided to give it a try. It was either trying this or being a fry cook for the rest of his life. Matthew Garner went on to try and apply for the LSSD.
