Forts [Anon x Glimmer]

“Starlight!” You call out into the empty castle.
> Her name bounces off the walls, echoing throughout the cavernous halls.
> Having searched her bedroom, the study and even the kitchen, your next destination is the library.
> You are doubtful that you will find her in here, but it doesn’t hurt for you to try.
> As you round the corner leading to the library, you are met with a strange sight.
> There, sitting in the middle of the library is a mess of pillows and bed sheets and cushions.
> They are piled atop each other, with no rhyme or reason to them.
> As you stand there trying to make sense of the scene you are hit in the head with a small, wet dart.
> Your body immediately turns towards the assailant, and to your surprise, it’s a grinning, giggling Glimmer.
> In her hooves is a toy crossbow, a crossbow already loaded with another sticky dart.
> Your hand reaches up towards your forehead, pulling at the wet projectile.
> The toy comes off with a ‘pop’.
> Hearing this Glimmers giggles turn into infectious laughter.
> You smile and laugh along with her.
> You give her a minute to calm down before asking her about the fort.
“So, why the fort?”
> Glimmer beams at you, choosing not to answer you, but instead opting to float a small wooden crossbow over towards you.
> “Anon, join me!” She says with a playful note in her voice.
> She has you convinced.
> You grab the toy and sandwich it under your arm as you follow Glimmer into her pillow fort.
> Once inside you are greeted with a kiss from the playful mare.
> Her hooves wrap around your neck as she dives straight for you.
> The two of you ‘greet’ each other like this for the next few minutes before finally pulling away.
> Starlight falls back into what you can only call a “nest”.
> “Welcome to the Castle of Princess Glimmer” says a slightly winded Glimmer.
> You look around.
> It’s a small and cozy space with a few books and snacks in the corner.
> It makes you smile.
> Glimmer continues on, “It is your duty to snuggle the princess and to protect her territory from other Princesses.”
> ‘Other Princesses?’
> It takes only a moment of thinking before things start to click.
> Twilight.
“Aye, milady. I shall protect thee with my life.” You enunciate in a dramatic fashion as you sweep up the mare into your arms.
> This earns you a sweet giggle and a peck on the cheek.
> Glimmer nuzzles into your chest, making herself comfortable before grabbing herself a book and reading.
> You grab some snacks and pet the little mare as she reads.
> The two of you spend the rest of the day hiding out inside the pillow fort, away from the prying and grumpy eyes of Princess Twiggles.
> Soon enough Spike joins your little club and the three of you begin to tell spooky stories while bundled up in the sheets.
> Eventually Twiggles stops her nagging and the three of you let the purple pony in to join the fun.
> And thus the kingdom was saved and work for that day avoided.
