Pokemon Sapphire any% FAQ

Q: What are you playing on?
A: A GameCube using a GameBoy Player.

Q: What are you trying to do?
A: Beat the game as fast as possible.

Q: What is the best time?
A: 2:03:10 by epicdudeguy, according to the in-game timer.

Q: Why are you resetting?
A: Probably because I got the wrong Mudkip or lost too much time searching for Abra.

Q: What stats are you looking for?
A: I'm looking for one of three Mudkips that appear about 15000 frames after a soft reset. I say "about" because there are about 20 frames of variance during the opening cutscenes, so this is a very poor form of RNG manipulation. The Mudkips are as follows:
     *15657 | Hasty   2/25/29/30/31/23
     *15658 | Docile  23/30/31/30/17/29
     *15667 | Naive   13/30/19/30/3/31

Q: Why these Mudkips?
A: Great Speed makes the route more consistent, and this is one of only a few clusters of Mudkips with great Speed. And unlike the other clusters, these Mudkips are amazing in other ways (the Docile's 31 IV Defense helps more than you think).

Q: Why do you need Abra?
A: You get Fly really late in this game, so being able Teleport saves about 5 minutes.

Q: What is your goal time?
A: At least 2:02, hopefully lower. But Sapphire is a bad speedrun because the RNG manipulation is so inconsistent, Abra is shit, and the optimal route requires an unusually good Mudkip. I won't push for a truly optimal time, which would be 1:58-9.
