Sample Letter to your Senator about CISPA to send today
Today, May Day, there will be various operations/ actions, protests, etc. I have encouraged, asked folks to flood their senator(s) with emails, calls, faxes, tweets,
advising them that CISPA is a “make or break” issue, and if they vote FOR CISPA,
we will vote them OUT. Congress.org is a great place to find out who your senator(s) are, and gives you avenues of contact. If you are sending a fax , email, or letter and don’t have the time or whatever to write your own..please feel free to copy/paste and use this one I am writing for this purpose.

Dear Senator (insert their name here) :

I am a constituent from your state and I , like my friends, am very , very concerned about the most recent attempt to interfere with our right of privacy, under the guise of legislation. This legislation which has, unfortunately, already passed the House, is commonly called “CISPA”.

This letter is not meant to solicit a boilerplate answer drawn from talking points defending this legislation, using the tired old subterfuge of saying it is to defend us from the boogeyman of “hackers” or “terrorists” and I hope you would not try to say it defends the rights of the Copyright Cartel such as the MPAA, RIAA, because that is a losing argument for most right thinking Americans.

This letter is simply to tell you that for my friends and I, CISPA is a serious threat to our freedoms and privacy, and those who vote FOR CISPA, we will be voting OUT of OFFICE. This is a make or break issue for many of us, old and young, tech workers, farmers, sales people, doctors, lawyers, in fact, a wide cross section of your constituency.
So, before you make an irreparable mistake of voting AGAINST the public by voting FOR this draconian freedom robbing legislation, please consider that it is NOT the will of the people.

If and when CISPA comes up for your consideration, we respectfully ask that you VOTE STRONGLY AGAINST CISPA.  Remember, the voters WILL be watching how you vote and who you side with in this measure.
