Roleplay: The King of Acronia. Quite an interesting individual, to say the least he is. He was honorable, wise, and just, admirable qualities in a man. The only thing that Basil had questions about involved his ability to teleport. It was a technique that Melchior said was something only in the royal lineage. It was interesting to Basil. If he had a way to achieve this himself, maybe he could help the kindly King more. It would certainly take some research, of course.

But a technique like that... it would either have to be taught by the King himself, breaking the traditions of the royal family, or similar results achieved by technology. At least technology could be shared, and was less of an expense on the energy reserves Basil knew he would need for such a transport. But after the battle that raged on with the Icer tyrant Glaza, and Basil's current state of... death, the human had nothing BUT time, biding till something could be done to bring him back to the world of the living.

At least afterlife had places to quietly study and tinker, and with the occasional hunt for some material to work with, Basil would begin to try and come up with something to allow him instantaneous travel from point A to point B. The human was an educated man, of course, and he knew that such things would require some kind of base platform to work from. So he'd forage for metals to build some test platforms.

Once he had the platforms to test with, he'd ask around for some books on electronics, physics, and programming. These would be the likely areas he'd need to study hard on to make this work. The electronics and their parts he'd learn about would be needed to give the pads the ability to do anything at all. Physics would teach him more about the concepts he'd require for moving mass from spot to spot. The programming, of course, would be for calibrating the devices, so that they could link up to each other.

It would take him some time to get through the reading material, of course. While He was more prone to want to physically train, he believed in balancing both mental and physical. Brawn & brain worked better together, after all, instead of against each other. Still, Basil was no career scientist, so he was going to have to learn from a lot of trial and error.

The first tests began. In lieu of using himself, he'd use rocks and flowers on the pads to test them, for safety. The first rock, of course, never materialized... maybe it was too much energy from the pad that it just... vaporized the object instead of moved it? The second test, of course wasn't much better, only transporting HALF a flower... 10 feet straight up into the air... which also meant it promptly blew away into the yellow clouds below.

Back to the drawing board, he’d have to go. He'd need to study more, make newer parts, and try to figure out what went wrong. Perhaps a few of the wires weren't crossed right in connection to the transmitters... or was it receivers... gah, just rewire them both. The next tests should be much better.

... That’s what he wanted to say anyways. The next object to test was a normal looking fruit. Everything seemed to go well; it disappeared from one pad, and appeared on another... as paste. Ok, more calibrations. An adjustment to power output, a quick fix of the relay aaaand... the next fruit he tested... blew up, heavily, Shards of fruit raining down on him.

Agitated once more, Basil threw himself more into the books, he was heavily scribbling in a notebook now as he tried to piece together the bits of the puzzle he was missing. He was pretty sure he'd get it this time if his notes were right. The next day was going to be progress, PROGRESS!

That day, Basil double checked his numbers, adjusted the wires, flipped some switches and turned some knobs... and proceeded the next test. This time, everything seemed to run smoothly... the rock he used for this test vanished, it seemed to transform into energy that shot to the next pad, and began to reconstitute. He was already hiding behind a sturdier boulder, in case the test blew the object up. After 5 minutes... he poked his head out. No explosion and the rock seemed to have moved from spot to spot. He'd step over... and prod it with a stick... no fire... no softness. For all intents and purposes... it was a rock.

This was great, just what he wanted. However, now he needed to find a way to control it remotely. Maybe even pull him to a pad if he needed to, perhaps making a smaller device for control. He decided a watch fitted device would work best, and began to draw up diagrams for a few designs. Once he settled on one he liked, he began to work on it. It would take him a while to figure out the wireless part of the control, but with the harder part, the pads, working, he just needed to connect the control signal to the devices. A few tests... first time nothing, so he had to tweak the antenna. Second time, it synced with one pad, but not the other. The third time, it worked properly. Now he just had to fit a smaller pad of sorts onto the back to touch his body. This was harder, as he had yet to try and minimize the device. It took him several hours to get something small enough to work.

Finally, it seemed he had it working right. He began to test it more regularly to work out the final tweaks and kinks. It seems he'd be able to use this to great effect to help friends, that’s for sure. And if he ever got a deeper mission... well. He'd gladly use this tech for the better.
