  3.
  4. 1. MEMENTO_ February 1st, 2020
  5. "I was born a roving seed,
  6. Carried by the wind
  7. To some auspicious land.
  8.
  9. Then in a glade I was freed,
  10. Yielded by the wind
  11. To Earth's nurturing hand.
  12.
  13. Strong and proud as pine I grew,
  14. Braved the elements,
  15. Rose over canopy...
  16.
  17. But the wind around me blew
  18. Cold, he who was once
  19. My shroud in infancy.
  20.
  21. Then shone the Sun,
  22. And my soul at last knew rest.
  23. And when day's done,
  24. And she warms other forests,
  25. My weary heart endeavours to recall
  26. The honesty of her embrace;
  27. This truth I learn as her rays fall
  28. Fondly upon my jaded face."
  29.
  30. 2. TIGER'S EYE_ February 3rd, 2020
  31. "From my cheerless abode, I saw the Sun rise;
  32. How easily her dagger shuns the shade;
  33. Light shines again upon the path from which I strayed.
  34.
  35. And as I fare unfolds an ocean of snow,
  36. Vast and placid under her flaming crown;
  37. I breathe again, and in the pale, my sorrows drown.
  38.
  39. As they vanish in obsidian fumes,
  40. An island rises from the frozen sea;
  41. Its faraway shores as sombre as ebony.
  42.
  43. But no grief does their darkness inspire in me,
  44. And thought the bitter taste of ponent night
  45. Still lingers on my tongue, merciless oath of time,
  46.
  47. I sail onwards."
  48.
  49. 3. I WILL NOT LOOK OUT THE WINDOW TONIGHT_ February 3rd, 2020
  50. "I will not look out the window tonight.
  51. What is there to see?
  52. The end of quiet below? The carefree stars above?
  53. None of this speaks to me...
  54. I will not look out the window tonight."
  55.
  56. 4. SUNRISE_ April 1st, 2020
  57. "I followed the sound of your breathing
  58. In the quiet of early morning
  59. Out of Morpheus' trickery.
  60.
  61. Awake and eyes closed, we kept lying;
  62. You hair was soft against my skin...
  63. I kissed your forehead lazily.
  64.
  65. Then in the frail heat of sunrise,
  66. You raised your head and, in your eyes,
  67. My reflection smiled back at me.
  68.
  69. Our loving gaze in time suspended
  70. Could bring eternity to shame.
  71. To think the bow nearly misaimed;
  72. To think today hasn't yet started..."
  73.
  74. 5. LAMENT OF A LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER_ May 16th, 2020
  75. "I would shun the Ocean;
  76. Her raging waves; what lurks below;
  77. The ominous sight of shipwrecks...
  78.
  79. I would survey the land;
  80. Its lush forests; its mountains high;
  81. The promise of more cordial skies...
  82.
  83. I'd yield to the call of Earth;
  84. Her sweet murmur; her sincere song;
  85. But my heart's shackled in the depths...
  86.
  87. Here on the shores I will remain.
  88. The sand is warm under my feet;
  89. The crashing waves look fair to me...
  90.
  91. It's not so lonely on the coasts,
  92. With your roaring as company
  93. Outspeaking the yearning in me.
  94.
  95. I could settle for this;
  96. The ceaseless soothing; the healless longing;
  97. My anchor in a world I wish I could forget..."
  98.
  99. 6. THIS IS NOT A POEM_ October 2nd, 2021
  100. "I hate this world
  101. Yet here i am
  102. Fighting for it
  103.
  104. I keep reminding myself
  105. "You must do this for love"
  106. But the loudest voice in my heart is rage
  107.
  108. I was never taught how to keep the balance
  109. Between taming my inner fire
  110. And letting it fuel me
  111.
  112. I keep showing teeth
  113. But my jaw's starting to hurt
  114. No bark, no bite, just a weary facade
  115.
  116. I'm tired of being strong
  117. I'm scared of being weak
  118.
  119. I hate this world
  120. Yet here i am
  121. Fighting for it"
  122.
  123. 7. THE SHIPWRIGHTS_ October 8th, 2021
  124. "Give me a ship, and I'll fix her
  125. Not by myself, not in a day
  126.
  127. Sure, people might have told you
  128. That it's perfectly fine
  129. That there is no need to worry
  130.
  131. But I can hear her creaking
  132. I can feel that the inside of her masts
  133. Are infested with termites
  134. I see her sails
  135. As thin as the frost on the lawns
  136.
  137. Give us a ship, and we'll fix her
  138.
  139. Might take us a year
  140. Might take us twenty
  141. Might take us so long
  142. That our children will have to finish the job
  143. But we'll fix it
  144.
  145. Sure, people might have told you
  146. That it works just as good as new
  147.
  148. But we can see she's hanging by a thread
  149. Every trip that she sails
  150. Every harbour she shelters
  151. Might be the last
  152. And you won't know what hit you
  153.
  154. Give us your ship, and we'll fix her
  155. By the sweat of our brow
  156. By the rage in our blood
  157. By the love in our hearts
  158. Hell, we'll make her better
  159. Than you ever saw her,
  160. Than they even sold her
  161.
  162. Sure, people might have told you
  163. "They don't know a damn thing
  164. About how ships work"
  165. "They'll sooner sink all of us"
  166.
  167. But we know what ships need
  168. And we know all the captains
  169. All the commanders and admirals
  170. Only get ships to make themselves greater
  171.
  172. They would rather scuttle another vessel
  173. Than see her thrive instead of theirs
  174. So cruel and addictive a pleasure
  175. To deny others the right to sail
  176. To be the biggest and loneliest of galleons
  177. In the vast and empty ocean
  178. For to possess is to be
  179. In their uncaring mind
  180.
  181. How can these saboteurs
  182. Tell you that your ship is fine
  183. What good are they to sailors
  184. When all that they wish to see
  185. Is her bow underneath the waves
  186.
  187. So give us your ship, and we'll fix her
  188. Might take us a year
  189. Might take us twenty
  190. Might take us so long
  191. That you decide to help us finish it
  192.
  193. And maybe some day,
  194. You'll even tell a stranger:
  195. "Give me your ship, and I'll fix her""
  196.
  197. 8. I AM_ October 20th, 2021
  198. I am the swirls above a hot coffee mug
  199. I am the sound of thunder in the distance
  200. The lightning that turns your bedroom white
  201.
  202. I am a thousand flags wildly flailing
  203. And the windstorm that tears them off their poles
  204.
  205. I am the song of water in a dark cave
  206. Older than the dawn of life
  207. I am the droplets on the stone
  208.
  209. I am the sun
  210. Turning purple and flashing white
  211. I am the black disk that remains
  212. Inside of your naked eye
  213.
  214. I am the clouds in the summer sky
  215. Tainted pink by the blood of the dying day
  216.
  217. I am rays filtering through closed blinds
  218. And the wavering light of distant stars
  219.
  220. I am a raging heart bursting with love
  221. I am a fire in the night
  222. I am the strangers on the street
  223. The vulture and the carcass
  224. The mountains and each grain of sand
  225. I am the droplet and the ocean
  226.
  227. I am the shade between the trees
  228. I am a blade forged in darkness
  229.
  230. I am the notes under my hands
  231. I am the dragons in my mind.
  232.
  233. 9. BECAUSE_ October 27th, 2021
  234. Because I have seen the world as they have built it
  235. Because I have seen the law they signed up to enforce
  236. Because I have seen scarcity as they manufactured it
  237. Because I am sick of being forbidden to vent about my oppression
  238. Because I have seen the lambs to the slaughter
  239. Because I have known the victims of rapists
  240. Because I have read the pages of our burnt history
  241. Because I am comfortable where so many are not
  242. Because I will struggle like my elders before me
  243. Because I have to earn the life I did not ask for
  244. Because I have been trapped in others' view of my body
  245. Because I have seen the blood of too many
  246. Because I wish I had the power to end lives that end lives
  247. Because I have seen the rich man go to space
  248. Because I have seen the sweat of the poor
  249. Because I am made to feel a stranger in my own species
  250. Because I am made to feel an alien on my own planet
  251. Because I cannot stand the voices in my head
  252. Because I cannot hear the voices of my fellow
  253. Because I have never known life as it should have been
  254. Because I will never know life as it should have been
  255. Because I can build life as it should have been
  256. Because I dare to hope and dream
  257. Because I want to love and live
  258. Because I tire of yearning
  259. Because I want no one to hear a bomb
  260. Because I am going to die
  261. Because I cannot sleep
  262. Because I am angry.
  263.
  264. 10. LOVE IS..._ October 20th, 2022
  265. I have known no sweeter torment than the dreams of time spent with you.
  266. There is an ocean of tenderness in my soul I am dying to drown you in,
  267. A pyre you light up in my eyes,
  268. Like the sunrise betrays the night.
  269. My heart is in my throat from trying to embrace you.
  270.
  271. I have whispered your name until my breath became a storm
  272. So my song could resound in thunder,
  273. So my words would intertwine with the cold and soft autumn wind,
  274. So that it may caress your skin on behalf of my longing.
  275.
  276. My joy,
  277. Unwilling architect of my grief,
  278. Wound of Cupid,
  279. The sweetest wine to fog my thoughts;
  280. Unleash my tongue, o, confident of my doubts and fears,
  281. And let my lips be the chalice of your tears.
  282. Share with me the rivers of burden.
  283. Be my home as I am yours.
  284.
  285. 11. LIKE FIRE TO THE NIGHT_ January 28th, 2023
  286. I call you "my sunshine",
  287. You call me "my whole world"
  288. And I am defeated
  289. I tell you that your love sustains me
  290. And you tell me "you give me purpose"
  291. And I stand disarmed
  292. With no other choice but to tell the world
  293.
  294. 12. EMPIRE_ February 14th, 2023
  295. Welcome to the graveyard of your dreams
  296. Watch the tombstones piling up to build an altar to my greed
  297. I look down from my fortress at your hell hounds
  298. Famished and pathetic echoes of the world I've gagged and bound
  299.
  300. Welcome to the kingdom of assassins
  301. Sacrifice your shrivelled soul for my atrophied heart to feed
  302. I look up to the heavens with a grin
  303. Build stairs with your gold-coated bones, leave Peter at the gates to bleed
  304.
  305. I'll tire you into non-existence
  306. Until you die for my convenience
  307. I'll make you think that's how it is
  308. I'll make you blame the victims
  309.
  310. I'll suck your rage dry of all resistance
  311. Sing you to sleep into sweet ignorance
  312. You'll dream of running the scam
  313. I have, therefore I am
  314.
  315. 13. IN DEFENSE OF..._ February 16th, 2023
  316. I hold my head in my hands
  317. And look at the time
  318. Only to notice
  319. That a clock stopped ticking
  320.
  321. I let my eyes turn to blood
  322. Rocking back and forth
  323. We can't even mourn
  324. With grace for the living
  325.
  326. I let my heart rot into fire
  327. Put another log in
  328. Let me make it true
  329. That I am a problem
  330.
  331. I spit in the face of the sane
  332. And look at the time
  333. No one fucking cares
  334. That a clock stopped ticking
  335.
  336. 14. UNTITLED_ February 19th, 2023
  337. I find my butchness in the scarred surface of the Moon and her reluctance to show her hidden self
  338. I shine my brightest away from the sight of most, only amongst my fellow stars
  339. They are so far away from me, but when I take a step back, I see that, like her, I am not alone in the night sky
  340.
  341. I find my butchness in the strength of the Earth and her unwavering love for mankind
  342. I have suffered at the hands of the people I was meant to nurture
  343. I have grown to suffer bouts of indifference, but I always remember that life is worth protecting
  344.
  345. I find my butchness in the scorching warmth of the Sun
  346. I find it in the loyalty of dogs, in the independence of cats
  347. I find it in the sturdiness of the trees
  348.
  349. I find my butchness in the rage of thunder
  350. I find it in the gem-laden depths of the world
  351. I find it in my quietest tears, in my loudest and earnest laughs
  352. I find it in my heaviest heart
  353.
  354. My butchness is an unconditional connection to the universe
  355. My butchness is anger born out of love
  356. My butchness is the will to persevere, to live, to care, to try
  357. My butchness is saying "I will leave behind a better world"
  358. Always a shield, sometimes a sword
  359. Always a bark, and a bite if needed
  360.
  361. Butchness, to me, is the hardest thing that has ever been worth it
  362.
  363. 15. ימים נוראים - א: REFLECTIONS_ September 16th, 2023
  364. א. The thing is that the majority of atheists raised in a hegemonic christian society
  365. Have been spoonfed this vision of G-d as a big bearded man in the clouds
  366. And as such, ridicule believers of other faiths, when it's not necessarily the conceptualisation they have of Him
  367.
  368. ב. In Judaism, G-d is unique and impossible to apprehend by a human mind.
  369. There is no way of describing Him meaningfully.
  370. "There's no big bearded man in the sky" is a loaded argument
  371. That simply falls flat.
  372.
  373. ג. I, myself, have long thought that I did not believe in G-d
  374. Because of the pervasiveness of this idea.
  375. I am, in a sense, an "atheist"
  376. Because my attempts to make sense of G-d
  377. Are much more deistic in approach than theistic.
  378.
  379. ד. I think there is a parallel to be drawn
  380. Between how I think of G-d
  381. And the conceptualisation of Norse gods
  382. That Jorge Luis Borges attributes to the heathen:
  383. Þórr is as much the god of thunder as he is thunder itself.
  384. מלך העולם is also העולם.
  385.
  386. ה. G-d in my mind almost has an eldritch quality to Him.
  387. At some point, things get "too":
  388. Too much, too big, too small, too abstract, too present.
  389. We can't even begin to "understand how to understand" them.
  390. G-d is omniscient,
  391. G-d is omnipotent,
  392. Because G-d is everything.
  393.
  394. ו. Jorge Luis Borges has also said
  395. That "the fatherland" is "none of us" and simultaneously "all of us".
  396. We are the droplets.
  397. The droplet is not the ocean. The droplet can never hope to become the ocean.
  398. The droplet cannot even begin to understand the idea of the ocean.
  399. G-d is the ocean.
  400. The ocean is aware of every droplet, for each droplet is aware of itself.
  401. The ocean knows what every droplet knows,
  402. Can do what each droplet can.
  403. The ocean is every droplet.
  404.
  405. 16. ימים נוראים - ב: Ô FOURBE ATTRAIT DU SAULE PLEUREUR_ September 16th, 2023
  410. J'observe comme cette pointe s'érige orgeuilleuse, victorieuse;
  440. Their ears are deaf to my calling myself.
  441. They evoke their empire, and I remember our ruins.
  442.
  443. Can I find it in my heart to forgive
  444. Their blaming of my love on the sweetness that called to me?
  445.
  446. Can You find it in Your heart to forgive
  447. My losing hope, knowing that I find it back each day?
  448.
  449. Is my choosing of the grief of Your people
  450. Enough to redeem my Moabites,
  451. My ancestors, my heritage,
  452. That which I should not bring myself to reject?
  453.
  454. Will You find it in Your heart to forgive
  455. The guarding of a shul's doors?
  456.
  457. Will you hear my plea, pretentious as it feels,
  458. To shine through me,
  459. Whether target,
  460. Whether beacon?
  461.
  462. 18. ימים נוראים - ד: YELLOW HEART_ September 19th, 2023
  463. Good Lord, if there is a grave, I will kneel before it.
  464. I was soft to her yet my words were as rusty nails.
  465. My judge, her hope, I confess, I have squandered.
  466. I was as cruel a lover as I was great a poet.
  467.
  468. Good Lord, if her ashes fills the air, let them purge my lungs.
  469. I pray the lesson burns like the threat of damnation.
  470. My judge, I will not hide behind my reckless youth;
  471. I will bear the burden of past hypocrisy.
  472.
  473. Good Lord, the pain of distance seemed righteous to me.
  474. I leave it now within Your hands to have her soul bask in Your Light.
  475. My judge, will You show her the remorse of a fool?
  476. Will Time be the messenger of my return?
  477.
  478. My lord, it is easy to regret, hard to learn.
  479. Fair judge, will You lead me to her answer?
  480.
  481. 19. ימים נוראים - המתנה_ September 25th, 2023
  482. In my dream,
  483. They said to me:
  484. Still she lives.
  485.
  486. Just a dream;
  487. They called to me.
  488. Still she haunts.
  489.
  490. Is it vain
  491. To see in this
  492. A message?
  493.
  494. Heard, my pain,
  495. My grief and guilt;
  496. Righteous theft.
  497.
  498. On this day,
  499. She thought of me -
  500. Still she cares;
  501.
  502. On the Way,
  503. Has pardoned me -
  504. Graceful gift.
  505.
  506. 20. FRAGMENTS_ October 4th, 2023
  507. 20.a. DIRT_
  508. The more your eyes try to put me down,
  509. The more intently I'll walk.
  510. I dug myself out the dirt.
  511. You're not putting me back in.
  512.
