  2. Promoting Unhealthy Products
  3.
  4.
  5. Unhealthy products are constantly sold to consumers and businesses sell them to earn an income. Selling these products are legal but governments are sometimes required to regulate their sale and marketing to try and minimise the harm they do. The aim of the regulation is to protect the young and vulnerable from being influenced by advertising that encourages them to take up the habits.

  17. 2 What problems are created by the high consumption of alcohol?
  18. Loss of coordination and loss of inhibition. Even more alcohol can cause poisoning and death from high concentration of alcohol in blood. Can also cause sexual problems, sleeping difficulty, anxiety, periods of depression and high blood pressure. If done over a long time it increases the risk for serious health problems including alcohol related liver disease such as hepatitis or cirrhosis, heart disease, stomach problems, brain damage, cancer and inflammation of the pancreas. These diseases can be very painful and many can lead to long term disability and even death.

  28.
  29. 4 Why does the government impose a tax on alcohol products?

  35. 5 If alcohol causes illness and can lead people to die, discuss why is it still possible for businesses to sell this product.
  36. Any product in large quantities can cause health problems such as fat and sugar, both are more addictive than alcohol is on a biological level. 49.
  50. 2 Why is a tax imposed on the sale of tobacco?
  51. The higher tax on tobacco products discourages people from being addicted since is they keep buying multiple expensive packs of cigarettes a day then they’ll become poor. This also prevents a large amount of money from the high price of packs going to the cigarette companies, the government gets that percentage of the revenue instead.
  52.
  53. 3 What are the laws in relation to businesses advertising the sale of tobacco?
  54. The tobacco advertising prohibition act of 1992 limits the exposure of such products to the public by saying that it is an offence for a corporation to publish or broadcast a tobacco advertisement unless it’s political discourse or an anti-smoking advertisement.
  55.
