Selwyn

Selwyn Thorpe was born to Sally and Benjamin Thorpe, two loving parents who hunted and raised a breed of 8 legged cat made for hunting.(See bottom of page for details) Selwyn would always wander away from his parents once he was old enough to walk to play with the cats, even though it made his parents uncomfortable. It was during this time that he bonded with the runt of the litter, a black cat he named Charlotte. (He spent many hours giving his parents sad eyes before they agreed he could keep it) Once he got older his father started teaching him how to shoot a bow and hunt, skills he took to easily and happily. School on the other hand was a less cheerful place for him. He would excel in the actual academics, but when it came to interacting with people he would get extremely nervous and hide away. Before long this behavior made him a bit of an outcast and leading people to start to bully him. The worst by far was Eika, a daughter of trackers who seemed to have a grudge against him for reasons he never really got. He would always do his best to sneak his way to the woods after school where he wouldnt be followed and spend time with Charlotte and the other animals. One day during his after school excursions he fell asleep under a particularly nice tree by accident. By the time he woke up it was dark out, far too dark to be able to make his way home. It was then however when a nature spirit poked her head out of her tree. Of course he was absolutely blubbering by this point so he didnt see her until she poked him on the shoulder. After a brief freak out and crying harder he calmed down enough to tell him her name and get her's, Saorise. She showed him a way home and asked him to come back the next day. It was here that Selwyn made his first friend in the nature spirit. He would spend hours afterschool talking and playing games with her. Eventually his school time woes would mellow out with high school, where he was mostly left alone. His fascination with nature would only grow, to the point where he decided to go to college to study it, even if it meant he would have to leave Saorise. He did promise to come back to visit whenever he could though. After a few years of excelling in college he decided to take a study leave to explore his horizons and try and learn about nature himself, especially the weird and dangerous.



*They're slightly bigger than normal cats but not by much and have a pair of long fangs that extend to pierce deeper into the neck of their prey, allowing them to take things down bigger than them if needed. Their extra legs allow them to be extremely stable and climb easier than normal in addition to providing more claws to cling into prey with. Heavy selective breeding has left them with a very long lifespan to ensure the hunter's companion will last them a long time.(Although it is also a very good selling point and reason to increase the prices of the breed)
