BACKGROUND; rae was born into a family of 4 which included her mom, dad, and two older brothers in seoul. as a kid rae always stood by her brothers side who were a fan of rap and hip hop music. she grew up listening to that and took in a passion for rapping at the age of 13. when she was 15 years old she finally decided to put her dream of being a rapper into action and auditioned at sm. she successfully passed and became a trainee when she was 15 years old, waiting for her debut.

SCANDALS; she's a smoker. this rumor came to be when dispatch took a picture of rae with a small white stick in her mouth. due to the blurriness of the pic everyone speculated it was a cigarette but this was told to be false after rae and the ent. company told fans it was just a lollipop which was true and put to an end when a fan uploaded pics of rae on the same day clearly showing it was a lollipop. she does not smoke at all.
