Well, that's not entirely true, because if you reinforced your body, you're pretty certain that you could survive being hit by a truck, so you'd stand to lose nothing either way, of course, if there was actually a real risk of you dying from trying to save somebody with little relevancy to this world, then you'd just let them die.
