Life/Death

Once upon a time, there was a great god of creation, of life and prosperity. With his great divine creation, from his own flesh and blood and bone, he created the earth, and it’s inhabitants; animals, men and monsters. They all lived harmoniously, all as one. But soon, those creations turned against their creator, unable to appreciate what they had been given, demanding more out of life than they had been given. They told the god that life was fruitless, that they had nothing but their own minds and their riches to hold them to this still earth, this unmoving world. And so, the god of life grew enraged, turning his once bright being into a dark and destructive one. He was enraged that his own creations, his own blood and bone and flesh, were ungrateful at being given the chance to live at all. And with this boundless rage, he sought to create destruction within this world so ungrateful, and cursed them with death, plague, and great beasts which tore down all that man and monsters created. It was then that the god saw his creations weeping and begging for forgiveness, and he began to feel pity for them. He decided, in all his glory and creation, that he would give his creations one last gift. He allowed them a balance between their creation and destruction, offering them a chance to fight against death and plague, and gave them weapons against the beasts he summoned to their earth. He gave them age, and medicine, and tools. He gave them evolution. And finally, when that god had finished, he saw his creations, weeping yet happy, laughing yet hurting, smiling yet dying. Having balance between sadness and happiness, life and death, creation and destruction, the creations were finally truly at perfection, a state of evolution, of moving eternally forward with a cycle of death and birth. The god could once more be happy with his creation, and so, he eternally watches over it with care.
