  1. >The house at Sweet Apple Acres stands before you and Rainbow Dash.
  2. >You are about to meet a pony who lives here and ask her if you can borrow her bed.
  3. >Nope, that's not awkward at all. It'll be perfectly fine!
  4. >At least, that's what you've been telling yourself.
  5. >There really isn't much to worry about though, or so you'd like to think. They've all been friendly enough so far.
  6. >Besides, even if she declines, you can manage without a bed. Or maybe somebody else has one you could use.
  7. >Rainbow Dash begins knocking on the front door. You stand a few feet behind her in an attempt to not scare the crap out of whoever would be unfortunate enough to open the door and see something like you standing there.
  8. >Moments later, the door creaks open, revealing a mare with an orange coat, an impressive golden mane, and a... stetson. She was wearing a cowboy hat...
  9. >The pony shows an immediate smile at the sight of her friend standing outside of her door.
  10. >"Well howdy Rainbow Dash!" she happily exclaims, "What're ya-"
  11. >Her question trails off as the expression on her face turns to shock when she spots you.
  12. >Fortunately, Rainbow Dash steps up before her friend gets any chance to freak out.
  13. >"Hey AJ, this is Anonymous! Don't be scared, he's cool."
  14. >This 'AJ' lifts an eyebrow at Rainbow before looking back at you.
  15. >"So this is that creature that you an' Twilight made friends with huh?"
  16. "Hi," you cheerfully say while raising and waving your hand at her.
  17. >"Uh, howdy there, partner," she responds hesitantly with a faint smile, "So, where'd y'all come from anyway? An' why are ya so, uhh- blocky?"
  18. >She really just asked why you're so 'blocky.' Honestly, you shouldn't be so surprised. In fact, you should probably start counting how many times you get that question.
  19. "I came from a world much simpler than this. The rest is kind of a long story."
  20.
  21. >"Don't worry AJ, Twilight is gonna gather us all up to explain everything and let you all meet him too," Rainbow explains.
  22. >"Well Ah gotta say Ah'm anxious to hear just about everything about ya Anonymous!"
  23. >She does seem friendly enough, like the rest of them, even though she was pretty cautious at first. But that's to be expected.
  24. "Just call me Anon, please."
  25. >"Whatever ya say Anon," she agrees, "Mah name's Applejack, but ya can call me AJ if ya want."
  26. >"So, what're y'all doin' out here anyway?"
  27. >"We have a favor to ask ya," Rainbow responds.
  28. >"A favor huh? Sure thing, what do ya need?"
  29. >"You have a spare bed right?"
  30. >"Come on Dash, y'all know Ah got a whole spare bedroom, with bed an' all!"
  31. >"Heh, right," Rainbow chuckles, "Well, this is gonna sound a bit awkward, but-"
  32. "I want to borrow your bed," you sternly interrupt.
  33. >"Wha-" AJ lets out, confused at what you just asked.
  34. >Rainbow Dash lowers her head and plants a hoof in her face.
  35. "Uh- Sorry, I just need a bed to use for a night or two until I can make my own."
  36. >"Oh, well, Ah guess ya can stay here for a night or two-"
  37. "No no, I mean thanks for the offer, but I just need the bed. I can take it and bring it back good-as-new as soon as I get my own."
  38. >Applejack lifts an eyebrow at you this time.
  39. >"So, what yer sayin' is, y'all wanna take mah bed outta mah house and bring it back in a couple days as if nothin' had ever happened?"
  40. "Basically."
  41. >"It'll be easier than you think AJ," Rainbow adds.
  42. "She's right. I'm apparently really good at transporting things like that."
  43. >"It's okay, he can handle this stuff no problem, and I'll make sure he brings it back soon and in one piece!"
  44. >"Well, if ya say so Rainbow. Come on up then."
  45. >Applejack motions you and Rainbow Dash to follow her inside, and so you do.
  46.
  47. "Thanks Applejack, I really do appreciate it. You know, if you'd like, I'd be happy to grow you some vegetables or help out in your orchard or whatever."
  48. >"So you can grow vegetables huh?" she asks, "Ah wouldn't mind seein' some of that Ah suppose, but Ah won't turn down help in the orchards either."
  49. "Great, just let me know whenever you want my help, and I'll bring some crops by when I get some grown."
  50. >Soon enough, the three of you end up on the second floor of the house and inside the spare bedroom.
  51. >"Alright, so how're y'all plannin' on gettin' this bed outta here now?" Applejack asks.
  52. >"You just leave that to Anon here," Rainbow answers, smiling and looking at you in anticipation.
  53. >Clearly she wants to see you pick up the bed, but you bet she's probably more interested in the reaction that's about to come from her friend.
  54. >Without any hesitation, you begin relentlessly punching the bed until it becomes pocket-sized.
  55. >Applejack attempts to protest when you start assaulting her bed, but it's already broken down and in your hand before she really gets a chance to say anything.
  56. >She just stands there, staring at your hand, with her jaw hanging down and eyes as wide as can be.
  57. >Of course Rainbow Dash can't help but laugh.
  58. "See? Easy."
  59. >"Wha- But how-" Applejack stutters and stumbles over her words, attempting to comprehend what she just witnessed.
  60. >"Don't even try asking, he really can't explain it."
  61. >"How can ya not explain that!?"
  62. "It's just how everything has always worked for me and in the world I came from. Why it still happens with me in this world, I have no idea."
  63. >Applejack still seems entirely dumbfounded, unable to accept what she's hearing.
  64. >"Listen AJ, Twilight is gonna gather us all together soon for a little meeting or something with Anon, probably to explain whatever she can. I'd just wait for that if I were you."
  65.
  66. >"A- Ah dunno if Ah can Rainbow, that's just- creepy," Applejack responds, still confused and apparently somewhat frightened. She probably thinks she's losing her damn mind right about now.
  67. "Honestly, I have no idea what kind of crazy things Twilight's been writing down in that journal of hers, but she's been taking tons of notes on every little thing. By now she could probably tell you more than I could."
  68. >"Wha- How can ya say that Anon? Don't ya even know yer own physics? Or yer own world, even you yourself?"
  69. "Evidently not," you say sarcastically, shrugging at the question. "Look, my entire existence up until a day or two ago was in another world. This is normal to me because it's all I know. Your world and its physics are about as strange to me as mine are to you."
  70. >Applejack appears to consider that for a moment.
  71. >"Ah suppose that makes sense. It's just- unreal. You sure ya aren't usin' some kinda magic or anything?"
  72. "Ha, I wish. I can enchant tools and weapons, but that's the only thing close to magic I can do."
  73. >"Enchant tools huh? Is it very hard for ya at all?"
  74. "It's actually really easy once I can build the enchanting table, that's the only tough part. I'll show ya some day whenever I get one setup."
  75. >"Glad ta' hear it. Now Ah really gotta get back to buckin' those apples and try not ta think about what I just saw. Are y'all done here?"
  76. "Yep, and thanks again."
  77. >"We'll come get ya when Twilight is ready for her meeting or whatever."
  78. >"Good, Ah don't wanna miss a second of that!"
  79. >That went well enough, thankfully. Applejack went back to work as you and Rainbow Dash departed from her house in the direction of your own.
  80. >The first thing you're going to do is place that bed down and use it.
  81. >Afterward, you should probably find some tall grass and snatch up some wheat seeds. Twilight did give you a potato, but it's just one.
  82.
  83. >You don't want to have to start eating those when you're only growing one right now. Harvest it when it's done and plant every single new one you manage to get from it.
  84. >You'll also have to dig out a bit of a trench for the water so you can make an actual crop field too. But at least that's something you can do slowly over time.
  85. >After passing through the town, you come by Twilights' tree house before reaching your own.
  86. >"Anon!" you hear a shout come from her house. Seems like you came by at just the right time.
  87. >You simply wave to her and continue walking by.
  88. >"Hey Twi, did ya send that letter off yet?" Rainbow asks.
  89. >"Yeah, and got a response too!" Twilight happily exclaims
  90. "So what did your princess have to say about all this?"
  91. >"I told her I wanted to have a meeting with my friends about you and she said she was going to come here and join us!"
  92. >"Princess Celestia is gonna come to Ponyville? Awesome!"
  93. "Wait, your Princess is coming here? To this little town? To your house?"
  94. >"That's right! That means I have a lot of work to do at home, so I'm sorry Anon but we'll have to call it a day."
  95. >Oh man, huge bummer, you were totally looking forward to spending the rest of the day with a book-worm pony looking over your shoulders and documenting everything you do.
  96. "Oh, that's too bad," you respond, trying to not sound sarcastic, "You're gonna miss out."
  97. >"Hmm..." Twilight ponders, shifting her gaze toward Rainbow Dash.
  98. >"It's okay Twi, I was gonna hang with Anon for a while anyway- I mean, if that's okay with him."
  99. "Eh, I'm not against having company."
  100. >Rainbow Dash smiles and continues to follow you as Twilight returns to her home.
  101. >"Oh hey you two, make sure you come to the library at noon tomorrow, that's when Princess Celestia is showing up."
  102. >You and Rainbow both nod and continue on your way.
  103. >When you arrive, you walk inside and produce the bed from your bag.
  104. >"So where are ya gonna put that thing anyway Anon? This place is kinda cramped already."
  105.
  106. >Rainbow Dash was right. This little shack was an abomination, acceptable only for the first night in a new world when you have to start from scratch.
  107. >You are past your first night, and this thing needs to be upgraded.
  108. >But you'll probably save that for later. For now, you'll just get the bed down and get some crops growing. Then you can start building a more appropriate house.
  109. >Thankfully, you left two spaces along side one of your walls open just for a bed, and that's right where it's going.
  110. >With the bed in your hand, you lean down and place it on the ground, where it instantly manifests into its normal size and shape.
  111. >"Wha- whoa," Rainbow looks on in awe, as if she was expecting something different to happen. She should know better by now.
  112. "Well, what did you expect?" you question her, smirking in the process to get a faint giggle out of her.
  113. >"Man, you gotta teach me how to do that!" she laughs a bit more.
  114. "I wish I could Rainbow, believe me."
  115. >With the bed down, you crawl onto it and lie on your back for a moment.
  116. >Yeah, this will do nicely for now. And damn this thing is comfortable!
  117. >Now that that's done with, you crawl back off the bed and go to your chest, taking out a bucket, shovel, and hoe.
  118. >One single potato isn't going to cut it, so you step outside and scan the surrounding area for some tall grass.
  119. >There are patches here and there, not a whole lot though. Maybe you'll find a bunch more over in the forest? It's not like it's very far.
  120. >"What are ya lookin' for Anon?" Rainbow asks, hovering over you and looking down with a confused expression.
  121. "Tall grass."
  122. >"Tall grass? What possible use co-"
  123. "Just roll with it Rainbow, watch and you'll get your answer."
  124. >She clearly didn't like being interrupted, but understood nevertheless.
  125.
  126. >You elect to head for the forest in search of some tall grass, suspecting that you'll find a lot more there than in the fields surrounding this town.
  127. >You're close enough that it only takes a couple minutes to breach the edge of the forest and start walking through bushes and the very grass you were looking for.
  128. >Without delay, you immediately begin swinging at all of the grass you come across, erasing it from the forest floor instantly.
  129. >Again, your companion seems stunned at what you are doing, but attempts to ignore that bit and continue to observe you.
  130. >Sure enough, a good deal of wheat seeds litter the ground as you plow through all the tall grass you can find.
  131. >"Uh, hey Anon, what are those things you're picking up?"
  132. "Wheat seeds."
  133. >"Wheat? And you're getting those by punching grass?"
  134. "Yep. I need to grow some more stuff right now until that potato Twilight gave me turns into a bunch more potatos."
  135. >"Uh-huh," she responds, still confused.
  136. >Once you have about twenty wheat seeds, you cease your attack on the foliage and start walking back toward your pathetic excuse of a house.
  137. >Rainbow Dash continues to follow along-side you, though she's staying fairly quiet.
  138. >It's actually starting to bug you a little bit. Doesn't she have anything better to do?
  139. "So hey, Rainbow Dash-"
  140. >"What's up?"
  141. "I'm curious, why are you following me around so much? Don't you have other things to do, or friends to hang out with?"
  142. >Your question seems to have caught her off-guard for a moment, but she recovers quick enough.
  143. >"Uh, y-yeah, of course I do! It's just that, uh, well- You're new to this place, and all these things that you do are so weird and unusual, it's kinda- interesting, I guess."
  144. >Well, she tried to recover from reacting to that question anyway.
  145. "Interesting huh? It's not because you don't trust me by myself or anything?"
  146.
  147. >"Nah, I think I can trust you, as long as you don't plan on attacking any cows again," she says, giggling at the thought.
  148. >At least she can laugh about that now, it's a bit of a relief that she doesn't seem mad about it or anything anymore.
  149. "Heh, no more attacking cows, or any other animals."
  150. >"Good, because if you thought Twilight and I were mad, you don't wanna see Fluttershy if you even /try/ to harm an animal around her."
  151. "Fluttershy? I heard you mention her name before right?"
  152. >"Yeah, she's a pegasus like me, she's the pony who ran off scared when you first showed up here."
  153. >Of course, that yellow pony that was sticking her head in the ground, yeah you remember that.
  154. "Oh right, I guess I'll be meeting her tomorrow huh? Anyway I guess it's good to know I'm not boring you to death," you say with a little chuckle.
  155. >"Boring? Nah, not really."
  156. "Not really?"
  157. >"Well... I dunno, you said you like adventuring and exploring right? Like caves and stuff?"
  158. "That's pretty much all I do, or at least that's how it was before coming here."
  159. >"You should let me come with you when you go exploring caves or whatever, so you don't have to do it alone anymore."
  160. >For some reason, that statement made you think for a moment.
  161. >'So you don't have to do it alone anymore.'
  162. >Not being alone, like pretty much everything in this new world, has been a foreign concept for you, but this seems to have had a bit of a heavier effect.
  163. >You haven't told them yet, but you have actually come across other humans just like yourself, other than those mostly-lifeless villagers you'd sometimes come across.
  164. >These other humans were almost identical to you. Sure they had some unique personalities, but their goals and lives were pretty much the same as yours.
  165. >There was only about two worlds where you encountered other people like that.
  166.
  167. >Some times they had formed their own towns or communities, other times they seemed to be avoiding each other, or even attacking and stealing.
  168. >One time you actually saw somebody dumping lava on other people's wooden houses and then just using tnt to blow the shit out of whatever else they could find.
  169. >Needless to say, you never really hung around any of those people for very long, not to mention you never made any friends with them.
  170. >To you, they were mostly just another type of weird human that you would some times find, like the villagers, only some of them were bat-shit crazy.
  171. >These ponies though, they're different.
  172. >Especially Rainbow Dash here. You're starting to think she has an honest desire to be friends with you.
  173. >When you think about it, it kind of makes you happy. You've never had a friend before, so you really don't even know what it's like.
  174. >Right now though, you think you're slowly finding out what it's like.
  175. >You should probably let her join you then. It'll be a new experience for both of you really, so why not?
  176. >"Uh, hello, Equestria to Anon?"
  177. "Huh!? Oh, uh- yeah, my bad. Uh, sure you can tag along with me. I just have to remind you that it can be really dangerous."
  178. >"Pfft, I told ya before Anon, I can handle myself just fine."
  179. "Good, I hope so. You saw what happened in that cave right?"
  180. >"Kinda, I'm not afraid of any caves though," she boasts. Well it's good that she's confident in herself, but she'll need more than that.
  181. "Heh, you say that now," you smirk at her.
  182. >She smiles and shoots you a determined look.
  183. "I'm gonna put that confidence to the test you know," you say, returning the expression.
  184. >The two of you share a moment of laughing and mostly remain quiet for the next couple minutes as you return to your humble abode.
  185. >When you return, you waste no time in making an actual farm.
  186.
  187. >You start by taking out your shovel and digging a single trench, giving some distance between it and your home to make it easier for you to build out later without having to move this.
  188. >Rainbow Dash still seems dumbfounded by how easily you're taking chunks of dirt out of the ground, but she doesn't say anything.
  189. >Next, you take your bucket and fill the trench up. She's even more weirded out by the whole infinite water thing, but still she remains quiet.
  190. >Now you take out your hoe and till ten pieces of dirt on either side of the trench. Last but not least, you take your twenty wheat seeds and plant them in the freshly-tilled soil.
  191. >"Whoa, okay, hold up," Rainbow finally breaks her silence. "So you're tellin' me that you can plant crops without digging or anything? You just smack that tool into the ground, it's instantly tilled, you set the seed on it, and it's already planted and ready to go?"
  192. "Uh, yeah, that's exactly what happens."
  193. >"Ugh, Twilight needs to see this one," she says, shaking her head side to side.
  194. >You still can't help but smile when she reacts like this.
  195. "Don't worry, she'll get her chance to see it too."
  196. >Now that that's done, you take a look at the potato you planted earlier. It has made progress, but it's not fully grown yet.
  197. >It's unfortunate because you're already starting to get a little hungry, and none of this is going to be grown soon enough.
  198. >You might have to ask Rainbow for some food. In fact, that's exactly what you're going to do.
  199. "Hey Rainbow, I'm getting kinda hungry, do you know where I can get some food until this stuff grows?"
  200. >"Uh yeah, of course I do! What kinda food do you want?"
  201. "Hmm, I dunno. Do you ponies have things like cake? Or pumpkin pie?"
  202. >Rainbow chuckles at your question.
  203. >"That's not quite what I expected you to say, but we have some of the best cakes and pies in all of Equestria right here in Ponyville!"
  204.
  205. >Now that's what you like to hear!
  206. >Finally, you won't have to milk cows and wait for chickens to litter a hole in the ground with eggs just so you can make cakes anymore!
  207. >Because seriously, fuck chickens, you don't need another pit of those squawking bastards again. Nor do you need a pit of cows mooing at you all day and night either. Ungrateful livestock.
  208. >Then again, cows here are apparently smart, so you probably couldn't do that anyway.
  209. >Chickens on the other hand, you're not sure of. You'll have to find out some time.
  210. >For now though, you're about to follow Rainbow Dash to wherever all of this amazing cake and pie is.
