- The players arrive at an inn at night, light rp with certain key npcs to establish them. then sleep.
- They awake to screams. one of the key npcs has discovered a body. Gramptom Rumpterfrabble.
- Grampton rumpterfrabble has been Taxing the population heavily. He also accepts pretty heavy bribes from the thieves' guild, doesn't pay his workers a living wage, and uses aggressive tactics to keep any other plantation owners from "making it".
- 1)Grampton is killed by the leader of the thieves' guild for dating his ex wife
- A)The players see a gathering around the man's estate, as the constable is waving everyone away. The wife is crying, begging for someone to find the murderer.
- E)One of the graves in the graveyard has a keyhole, and if you insert the key you enter the thieves' guild headquarters
- B) The church houses the priest who buys drugs from the thieves guild.
- C)The local wizard enchants magic items for the thieves' guild and doesn't ask any questions.
- D)One of the thieves' working for the guild actually stole some money from the crime scene.
- A-B)Letters in the desk reveal that Grampton is trying to get Paul (the priest) help for his drug addiction. "I know the wizard is very self serving but I can pay a hefty amount to have him help you."
- A-C) The wife was literally sleeping next to grampton, and only woke up to him having his neck slit. Clear signs of struggle, but she was not awakened. There is a red string hanging from a nail
- A-D) The window is broken, there's a shuffle, leading to the nightstand, it's open. They were robbed. Can track him down, or ask about known thieves?
- B-C)The priest has several scrolls made by the wizard
- B-D)The priest knows the thief through confessions
- B-E)The priest gets his drugs from the thieves' guild
- C) The wizard has a ward on his door protecting it from anyone who approaches. He also has an invisible walkway leading to his front door. He doesn't want to be approached.
- C-B) He knows about the drug addiction but was waiting for a better offer.
- C-D) The wizard sells magic scrolls to the thief
- C-E) The wizard directly helped them commit the murder, but is afraid of them killing him
- D-B) Oversees the sales to the priest
- D-C) Accepts the magic scrolls from the wizard
- D-E) directly works for the thieves' guild
