  1. Ming squirmed under that look like Yuii squirmed when she knew she'd been caught doing wrong. Her words had gone too far but the something in Tatsuya's eyes made her feel ashamed for reasons beyond their conversation. If she'd been a cat she would have purred. "You're right, of course," she conceded, cooling her own temper and letting the frayed edges smooth. The injustice of it all just got to her and it seemed to her if a few bad men needed to die to make the world safer for Yuii then so be it.
  2.
  3. "My date with Ren was my first..." she admitted, biting the inside of her lip painfully. Oh she'd been asked on plenty before and her admitting that was not a play for pity. Ming had just never had any use for it or for men in her life before. They always complicated things, muddled things up and she had wanted to succeed as her own person. If she admitted it to herself, much of her avoidance had been in respect for Ren as well, punishment even for what she'd thought she had caused. She might have gone on a date with Joji and had been ready to maybe, finally, say yes but fate had intervened.
  4.
  5. She blinked back her own surprise, because she'd never imagined herself as the only person to know anything of Tatsuya's 'attack'. Who was she but barely more than a stranger in his eyes? Normal people kept an array of friends, normal people spoke of the worst that had happened to them. Not Ming, never Ming, but she was observational enough to know what was normal even among shinobi. And so it was shocking to think she'd been the first to trigger that out. "Am I?" she breathed out, sounding every bit as surprised as she looked, "You've told no one else?"
  6.
  7. But then, who had she told? No one, only Tatsuya. The similarities could be frightening.
  8.
  9. "I'm not offended," Ming answered, her face brightening, "I'm not soft, I don't think I could ever turn my back completely on what I was trained to do, but I think at best I could manage a chuunin." Well, she was underestimating herself because one never really lost their proficiency with chakra and she had been a ninjutsu specialist, but the point wasn't to make him wary of her.
  10.
  11. Then with some thought she realized her lie, "My first date that was not part of a mission," she corrected with a sly smile. She left what had been done to Tatsuya's imagination though the truth was more innocent than anyone might guess. "First real relationship too I guess, I can't count the other one," she added, as an after thought to the subject. At least the conversation was winding down, away from all that nasty business.
  12.
  13. Her long fingers tangled in the into the fabric of his shirt, keeping herself well balanced. Balanced indeed, she felt as if she'd tilted the earth out from beneath her own feet. Nothing surprised her more than to find herself tucked neatly against the others very feminine body like it had been Tatsuya's idea all along that they be there. She could have laughed but that would ruin the moment and the kiss which she was giving as much focus as she would embroidery for an empress.
  14.
  15. Yes, this marriage arrangement would suit her perfectly, she decided, the corner of her mouth quirking up as she broke the kiss.
  16.
  17. "It occurs to me," she breathed out, her green eyes flicking between his mouth and eyes, "that if I leave you and him to your own devices you'll make an utter mess of your wedding night." Her smile grew, fingers teasing along his neck and jaw, "So perhaps you should let me teach you a few things about...yourself." She tried to sound as reasonable and calm, like her fingers weren't inching their way down to find a way under his top, like she wasn't ready to kick his pretty long legs out from under him and-
  18.
  19. Tatsu could shove her away at any moment, they'd just discussed power a moment before and she was no 'threat', That was the cream on top for her because if she had her way about this there was no doubt who would be in control.
  20.
  21. "Please? Don't make me beg." And that would have to serve as the answer for the earlier question; was there a problem?
