On cherry-picking

Bravo, Alexis. Publicly announce that "hate speech", harassment etc. are "an intrinsic part of GamerGate" then act surprised that people respond to it. TBC, sealioning, no matter how well intended, is one of the worst aspects of GG and I have criticized it myself in my Niche Gamer interview. I don't like it myself, never will. Still, being amazed that "replies didn't stop for five hours" from a movement of 150K+ people is odd (and let's not pretend like it was a flood of 100s -- it wasn't).

And extra bonus for ...cutting into conversation yourself ("Sorry to butt in..."). How is it not a doublethink?

I also find it weird that people like you *seem* to be actually actively looking for, as you call it, "the poop". There are are Twitter accounts on both sides that I avoid, accounts that seem to be mostly interested in war. From my POV, such anti-GG accounts focus of manufacturing drama (literally manufacturing, as in: lying) and actively hunting for trolls and the worst of GG, while such pro-GG accounts are mostly focused on extreme exaggeration and fighting the antis they all pretend to ignore but in reality religiously follow. It's a vicious circle and I have no idea why anyone would like to be a part of it.

You have supplied http://no-harassment-here.tumblr.com/ -- which is actually quite weak, includes discussions that have nothing to do with doxing, harassment, etc., or include stuff like pro-GG (i.e. not mentioning anything anti-GG) posters. But fine. So here's something from the other side:

You may find it interesting that I was anti-GG for quite some time (until the beginning of November I guess?), but stopped being so after long and careful evaluation of the movement/hashtag. If you *want* GG to be shit, it's easy to "prove" that it is -- and just as easy it is to "prove" that feminists are crazy or "prove" that Islam is about terrorism. Heck, I can "prove" that even #JeSuisCharlie is a hashtag for racists and harassers.

But to my best effort and knowledge none of what I just mentioned is true.
