  1. pH is a number value indicating the concentration of hydrogen ions (H +) in the water. This means the pH value of a given water sample is synonymous with its Hydrogen Ion Concentration. If the pH value of a given water sample is between 1 and 6.5, it`s concidered as acidic. If the pH value of a given water sample is between 8 and 14, it`s concidered as basic. Therefore, every factor that affects the acid-base values at the source of water also affects it`s pH values. These factors are divided into natural and man-made.

  3. Plants have been used since time immemorial for the prevention and cure of diseases (Muiva et al., 2009). The genus Eriosema of family LEGUMINOSAE-PAPILIONOIDEAE contains around 150 species. Studies which have been carried out on the species document various natural products of medicinal value (Awouafack et al., 2015). The natural product isolated are mainly those from mixed biosynthetic origins; flavanones, Isoflavones(pyrano or glucoside derivatives), dihydrochalcones, flavonols, dihydroflavonols, & isoflavanone. (Juma et al., 2011). Studies conducted on these secondary metabolites has established in vitro activity against the D6 (chloroquine sensitive) and W2 (chloroquine-resistant) strains of P. falciparum with IC50 values of 10.47 ± 2.22 µg/ml and 12.06 ± 2.54 µg/ml, respectively. (Mutisya et al., 2018).
