  1. Your target is attacked by monsters from the nightmare who've found a way through into our world. They need to survive for long enough for their allies to come help them.

  3. Saving...
  4.
  5. On Dandelion Parkway
  6. Cracked and pothole-ridden asphalt roads make up this part of town,
  7. bordered on either side by poorly maintained cracked sidewalks. The
  8. aluminum streetlights are painted a deep, chipped green and appear regularly
  9. along the side, illuminating the street in spots of warm electric light when
  10. it's dark. Where the street is widest small median islands appear with old
  11. twisted trees planted in them. The buildings that line the street seem old
  12. and poorly taken care of.
  13.
  14.
  15. It is night, about 7F(-13C) degrees, and the sky is covered by dark grey
  16. stormclouds. There is a waxing gibbous moon. You can hear the sound of waves
  17. in front and to the right of you.

  23.
  24. Darley is standing by the door, arms crossed crossly and with toes tapping
  25.
  26.
  27. In the late night, cold air, the east coast town is freezing - literally. In
  28. the single digits, the cold presses in on Darley's limbs and digits like the
  29. steady encroachment of time itself. The distant sound of waves continues to
  30. drone on, and in spite of the growing, gibbous moon overhead, there's plenty of
  31. shadow on the old, cracked and pothole-ridden asphalt road in the more poor
  32. section of town. A small wind kicks through, and whistles along past the
  33. deadened trees in the center of the medians.
  34.
  35. Not being particularly fond of this location due to previous experiences,
  36. Darley finishes up her toe-tapping and frowning at a departing car, to head to
  37. her own. "Some people, honestly," she mutters, looking to her phone, "Are
  38. -exasperating-." The phone vibrates and pulls up a text, however, and a pleased
  39. smile relaxes the girl's mien. Though the cold air cuts like a knife for her,
  40. she loosens her crossed arms to reach for her car door.
  41.
  42.
  43. Time rolls on, and seconds become minutes beneath that gentle, natural
  44. rhythm of the world - but then, there's a faint sound of a bit of glass or
  45. rock, something small scraping along concrete with the weight of something
  46. pressing down on it just out of Darley's sight. The car's right there though,
  47. just beyond her fingertips. The sound came from her back and left, out of
  48. sight. Feeding into Darley's own experiences, there's something ominous about
  49. the way the night itself seems to still.
  50.
  51. A small whimper tickles in Darley' throat as she freezes at the sound. Her
  52. irises travel that way first, then her lips curl in a fairly irritated snarl.
  53. "I swear... I don't want to end up killing someone again for stupid reasons,"
  54. she voices into the cold air, her breath faintly materializing as she speaks,
  55. but her tone betrays her. She is afraid.
  56.
  57.
  58. The Clocktower chimes: Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong.
  59.
  60. Another crackle of gravel of some sort beneath heavy weight comes from an
  61. opposite side, just out of sight, something applying pressure. The air in the
  62. area seems to almost grow colder, some unnatural dread building and threading
  63. its way up and down Darley's spine. At first, nothing comes, and then another
  64. sound, different from even the second happens, coming from all sides. Then
  65. slowly, coming forward as if from the shadows themselves, a massive thing steps
  66. into her view, like a man almost, but grossly overproportioned in strange
  67. places, with huge hands, feet, and head. Three baleful red eyes fixate on her,
  68. and the walking nightmare takes a slow step forward, gauging the girl's caution
  69. in a visceral, animal way.
  70.
  71. "Haha... oh gee..." Darley trembles out a thin laugh, her hand fumbling at
  72. the car door, urgently begging to be let in, "Hello... there... you're scary
  73. af." And she did say af. The girl grimaces, and moves to pull the car door open
  74. and let herself in, as smoothly and as swiftly as possible.
  75.
  76. Saving...
  77.
  78. When Darley starts to jump into the car, the sound off to the opposite side
  79. grows louder as something steps into view, a different looking monster - this
  80. one on all fours, with some disgusting combination of man, ostrich and turtle
  81. all bound up in one, as if to block her off. Saliva drips from both of their
  82. mouths, though for possibly entirely different reasons as they eye her and
  83. start to move in, cautious. Behind the car, there's a thump as something heavy
  84. drops to the street, and the form of a rotting corpse with glowing blue eyes
  85. straightens, maggots writhing their way from its mouth as it moans out a low
  86. sound and pushes forward, starting a shamble toward the vehicle as well.
  87. You can now create a new entry in the Haven book, set in Haven Township, somewhere else in earth, or somewhere offworld.
  88.
  89. "Aaaaaahhhh!" Darley screams, clutching at her bob of hair, turning and
  90. whirling about at the approaching monstrosities. But she gets in her vehicle,
  91. at least, turning the key and revving it up. She crouches before the wheel and
  92. waits, watching the three and their movements, eying for an opportune moment.
  93.
  94. When the car roars to life at Darley's beckoning, the three monsters seem
  95. oddly confused, and then, the first loses its temper and bellows back at the
  96. foreign beast that she managed to climb in, starting a lumbering charge toward
  97. it. Much to the odd proportions of the strange creature otherwise, head, hands,
  98. feet, it becomes blatantly obvious with all of the disgusting flopping that he
  99. has a rather egregiously sized member to match other disgusting features. The
  100. birdlike thing is far faster, immediately leaping toward the car in intent to
  101. stop whatever comes next, or simply beat it into submission with wild hunger in
  102. its eyes. The corpselike thing gets to the trunk, and slams a dead fist down
  103. hard enough against it to dent it and shake the machine. Between the three, the
  104. floppity nakedness of the first, the speed of the second, the unnaturalness of
  105. the third, the nightmarishness of the attack is blatant.
