- Your target is attacked by monsters from the nightmare who've found a way through into our world. They need to survive for long enough for their allies to come help them.
- Saving...
- On Dandelion Parkway
- Cracked and pothole-ridden asphalt roads make up this part of town,
- bordered on either side by poorly maintained cracked sidewalks. The
- aluminum streetlights are painted a deep, chipped green and appear regularly
- along the side, illuminating the street in spots of warm electric light when
- it's dark. Where the street is widest small median islands appear with old
- twisted trees planted in them. The buildings that line the street seem old
- and poorly taken care of.
- It is night, about 7F(-13C) degrees, and the sky is covered by dark grey
- stormclouds. There is a waxing gibbous moon. You can hear the sound of waves
- in front and to the right of you.

- Darley is standing by the door, arms crossed crossly and with toes tapping
- In the late night, cold air, the east coast town is freezing - literally. In
- the single digits, the cold presses in on Darley's limbs and digits like the
- steady encroachment of time itself. The distant sound of waves continues to
- drone on, and in spite of the growing, gibbous moon overhead, there's plenty of
- shadow on the old, cracked and pothole-ridden asphalt road in the more poor
- section of town. A small wind kicks through, and whistles along past the
- deadened trees in the center of the medians.
- Not being particularly fond of this location due to previous experiences,
- Darley finishes up her toe-tapping and frowning at a departing car, to head to
- her own. "Some people, honestly," she mutters, looking to her phone, "Are
- -exasperating-." The phone vibrates and pulls up a text, however, and a pleased
- smile relaxes the girl's mien. Though the cold air cuts like a knife for her,
- she loosens her crossed arms to reach for her car door.
- Time rolls on, and seconds become minutes beneath that gentle, natural
- rhythm of the world - but then, there's a faint sound of a bit of glass or
- rock, something small scraping along concrete with the weight of something
- pressing down on it just out of Darley's sight. The car's right there though,
- just beyond her fingertips. The sound came from her back and left, out of
- sight. Feeding into Darley's own experiences, there's something ominous about
- the way the night itself seems to still.
- A small whimper tickles in Darley' throat as she freezes at the sound. Her
- irises travel that way first, then her lips curl in a fairly irritated snarl.
- "I swear... I don't want to end up killing someone again for stupid reasons,"
- she voices into the cold air, her breath faintly materializing as she speaks,
- but her tone betrays her. She is afraid.
- The Clocktower chimes: Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong.
- Another crackle of gravel of some sort beneath heavy weight comes from an
- opposite side, just out of sight, something applying pressure. The air in the
- area seems to almost grow colder, some unnatural dread building and threading
- its way up and down Darley's spine. At first, nothing comes, and then another
- sound, different from even the second happens, coming from all sides. Then
- slowly, coming forward as if from the shadows themselves, a massive thing steps
- into her view, like a man almost, but grossly overproportioned in strange
- places, with huge hands, feet, and head. Three baleful red eyes fixate on her,
- and the walking nightmare takes a slow step forward, gauging the girl's caution
- in a visceral, animal way.
- "Haha... oh gee..." Darley trembles out a thin laugh, her hand fumbling at
- the car door, urgently begging to be let in, "Hello... there... you're scary
- af." And she did say af. The girl grimaces, and moves to pull the car door open
- and let herself in, as smoothly and as swiftly as possible.
- Saving...
- When Darley starts to jump into the car, the sound off to the opposite side
- grows louder as something steps into view, a different looking monster - this
- one on all fours, with some disgusting combination of man, ostrich and turtle
- all bound up in one, as if to block her off. Saliva drips from both of their
- mouths, though for possibly entirely different reasons as they eye her and
- start to move in, cautious. Behind the car, there's a thump as something heavy
- drops to the street, and the form of a rotting corpse with glowing blue eyes
- straightens, maggots writhing their way from its mouth as it moans out a low
- sound and pushes forward, starting a shamble toward the vehicle as well.
- You can now create a new entry in the Haven book, set in Haven Township, somewhere else in earth, or somewhere offworld.
- "Aaaaaahhhh!" Darley screams, clutching at her bob of hair, turning and
- whirling about at the approaching monstrosities. But she gets in her vehicle,
- at least, turning the key and revving it up. She crouches before the wheel and
- waits, watching the three and their movements, eying for an opportune moment.
- When the car roars to life at Darley's beckoning, the three monsters seem
- oddly confused, and then, the first loses its temper and bellows back at the
- foreign beast that she managed to climb in, starting a lumbering charge toward
- it. Much to the odd proportions of the strange creature otherwise, head, hands,
- feet, it becomes blatantly obvious with all of the disgusting flopping that he
- has a rather egregiously sized member to match other disgusting features. The
- birdlike thing is far faster, immediately leaping toward the car in intent to
- stop whatever comes next, or simply beat it into submission with wild hunger in
- its eyes. The corpselike thing gets to the trunk, and slams a dead fist down
- hard enough against it to dent it and shake the machine. Between the three, the
- floppity nakedness of the first, the speed of the second, the unnaturalness of
- the third, the nightmarishness of the attack is blatant.
