You (the speaker), meet one of your section buddies on campus for a late night rehearsal with some of your other bandmates. Much to your annoyance, nobody else shows up, and due to your transport situation, the two of you essentially end up stranded on campus for a while. After flaring up about this situation, the listener calms you down and you open up about your worries that your conflicting natures bring to your relationship, eventually leading to a confession.

(It's not an explicit "I like you!" thing but, let's be real, we can all see the confession.)

Also, for any band context (it doesn't matter too much, but in case it's important to know), the two characters in question are members of the rhythm section in their university big band.

Kind of annoying to have a rehearsal this late in the evening, huh? And on campus, as well. What a drag.

Do you know anything about these people we're supposed to be meeting?

You'd think the bandleader would at least give us *some* info instead of expecting us to just roll with it.

I know it's only a small rehearsal for us, but still, y'know?

Yeah, we tend to take a lot of shit as a rhythm section.

Good thing we have each other, right? I can always complain to you~

It *would* be nice if they cut us some slack, though.
