  1. Today I will be arraigned for defending an innocent, disabled child from grievous bodily harm and possible death at the hand of torturers—something that isn’t a crime, either legally or ethically.
  2.
  3. This case continues a tragic line of misguided prosecutions dishonestly pursued by Carmen Ortiz’s office. From comparing Aaron Swartz to a rapist, to illegally leaking wire taps, as well as abusing her power to target elected administrations she covets, Carmen Ortiz’s office is a stain on our judicial statement, and now on our international human rights record.
  4.
  5. After the FBI has already testified to the opposite, and her own office failed to contest such in a motion, she is lying to Newsweek by stating that patients were in harm’s way as a result of the defense of Justina Pelletier. These claims as are about as accurate as her office’s simile as Aaron Swartz as a rapist, a grotesque comparison to which there has been no apology.
  6.
  7. The truth of this case is that international humanitarian law is being broken in two ways. First, we are obligated to bring Justina’s abusers to criminal justice. Second, this prosecution is an attempt to bestow impunity upon torturers.
  8.
  9. I call on the Justice Department to reign in this prosecutor run amuck while I continue the fourth week of my hunger strike
