  5. ANNOUNCER: Again Bucking Bronco Soda brings you the adventures of the worlds strangest adventurer, the Songbird! Sweeping down on the underworld to strike terror into the hearts of lawbreakers and villains everywhere!

  7. SFX: RUSHING WIND

  9. ANNOUNCER: Songbird, friend of the unfortunate, and the enemy of crime! In reality mild-mannered reporter Anna DeWitt. Hunted by police, including her own father inspector Booker DeWitt, Songbird wages a one-woman war on crime in the city of Columbia!

  11. MUSIC: THEME "THE SONGBIRD SOARS"

  13. ANNOUNCER: Today's episode of The Songbird is entitled: The Mad Magician. This episode finds Anna on assignment with her father, inspector Booker DeWitt at a local nightclub.

  19. ANNA: Thanks for coming along with me tonight.

  21. BOOKER: Sure was nice of your boss to give you those two passes.

  23. RADIO: MUFFLED TALKING

  25. ANNA: Sir, can you turn the radio up?
  26.  
  27. BARTENDER: Sure thing, miss.
  28.  
  29. RADIO: "The robbery happened in broad daylight. Listeners will recall that just last week the Icarus bank was also-" (FADE OUT)

  31. ANNA: Another one?
  32.  
  33. Booker: That makes five banks this month. Each one robbed in broad daylight without a single witness.

  35. ANNA: How do you stop a crime that nobody sees happen?
  36.  
  37. BOOKER: That's a good question.
  38.  
  39. BARTENDER: A drink, ma'am?
  40.  
  41. ANNA: Oh, no thank you. I'm just here for the show.

  43. BOOKER: Speaking of, we'd better go take a seat. Looks like it's about to start.

  45. SFX: DRUM ROLL, THEN UNDER
  46.  
  47. SFX: CYMBAL
  48.  
  49. SANDER: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Sander Cohen. And tonight I shall show you feats of supernatural prowess that will astonish and amaze!
  50. SFX: FLAPPING WINGS

  52. SFX: CLAPPING
  53.  
  54. BOOKER: Well, I'll be.
  55.  
  56. ANNA: He's good.
  57.  
  58. BOOKER: A little eccentric, though. Don't you think?

  60. SANDER: I'll need a volunteer from the audience. You, perhaps?

  62. ANNA: Me?
  63.  
  64. SANDER: Yes you, come on up. Don't worry, I don't bite."

  66. SFX: FOOTSTEPS

  68. ANNA: Alright, here I am.
  69.  
  70. SANDER: Good, good. Now I want you to relax and listen to the sound of my voice. There you go, now look into my eyes. Anna, can you dance?

  72. ANNA: Oh, I'm afraid not well.
  73.  
  74. SANDER: Nonsense. I'll bet you're a fantastic dancer. In fact, I bet that you can dance as well as any of the talent here tonight.

  76. SFX: DANCING

  78. SANDER: Isn't she wonderful, ladies and gentlemen?

  80. SFX: CLAPPING

  82. SANDER: Now, enough fun. Let's bring you back with a snap of my fingers.

  84. SFX: SNAP

  86. SANDER: How do you feel?

  88. ANNA: I feel fine.

  90. SANDER: Do you remember anything from the past three minutes?

  92. ANNA: No, not at all.
  93.  
  94. SANDER: Rest assured that you put on quite the show. Give the girl another round of applause.

  96. SFX: CLAPPING

  98. SFX: CHAIR SLIDING

  100. BOOKER: Well, I'm impressed. I didn't know you could do the Charleston.

  102. ANNA: I certainly can't! And I don't remember anything paste the-of course, hypnotism!

  104. BOOKER: Huh?

  106. ANNA: Oh, nothing. I just had a silly thought. (THINKING) Looks like I'll be paying Sander a visit tonight...as the Songbird!

  108. MUSIC: TRANSITION

  110. MAN: Another great performance Mr. Cohen.
  111.  
  112. SANDER: You're too kind. Now leave me, I have matters to attend to.

  114. MAN: Of course, Mr. Cohen.

  116. SFX: DOOR CLOSING

  118. SFX: RUSHING WIND

  120. SANDER: What's that? Who's there?

  122. ANNA: Excellent show tonight.
  123.  
  124. SANDER: The Songbird? What are you doing here?
  125.  
  126. ANNA: I'm here to talk to you about hypnotism.

  128. SANDER: Well, I believe I can indulge you.
  129.  
  130. SFX: ELECTRIC CRACKLE
  131.  
  132. ANNA: Movement. Difficult. Some kind of mind. Control.
  133.  
  134. SANDER: Yes! Now you're under my spell.
  135.  
  136. ANNA: Not. yet. You. Don't.
  137.  
  138. SANDER: I know who you are and I won't have you interfering in my plans!
  139.  
  140. SFX: Explosion

  142. SANDER: (COUGHING)
  143.  
  144. SFX: RUSHING WIND
  145.  
  146. ANNA: That was close! If I hadn't set off that smoke bomb I'd have been done for! I need to see Professor Lutece and see if he can't help me figure out a way to defeat Mr. Cohen and his gang.

  148. MUSIC: TRANSITION
  149.  
  150. SFX: DOOR KNOCK

  152. LUTECE: Hello? Wh-oh, Anna. It's good to see you.
  153.  
  154. ANNA: Hey Doc, sorry to bother you so late but I need your help.
  155.  
  156. LUTECE: With that spree of robberies, I assume? It's been all over the radio.
  157.  
  158. ANNA: Exactly, and I found out how they're doing it.
  159.  
  160. LUTECE: Oh?
  161.  
  162. ANNA: The ringleader is using some kind of hypnotism to make sure that nobody remembers his crimes.
  163.  
  164. LUTECE: A clever trick, but I think I know just the thing to help you out.
  165.  
  166. SFX: RUMMAGING
  167.  
  168. LUTECE: As it happens these new goggles I've been working on should help you with any cheap parlor tricks they might try and pull.

  170. ANNA: Sounds like just the thing I need.
  171.  
  172. LUTECE: Also I've come up with a special addition to your Vitamin P. You'll need a few tricks of your own if you want to challenge this mad magician.

  174. ANNA: Thanks Doc, I appreciate it.

  176. LUTECE: But do be careful out there.

  178. ANNA: I will. But if I don't stop him before he leaves town, who will?

  180. MUSIC: TRANSITION

  182. SFX: TRUCK IDLING

  184. SANDER: Quickly you fools, load the money on the truck. This town is getting too hot, it's time to take this show on the road!

  186. HENCHMAN: Hey, what's that up there?
  187.  
  188. ANNA: Leaving so soon?
  189.  
  190. SANDER: Songbird! Boys, get her!
  191.  
  192. SFX: GUNSHOTS

  194. HENCHMAN: She got me!

  196. SFX: GUNSHOTS

  198. ANNA: Your men are dead, Sander. Turn yourself in. You can't win.
  199.  
  200. SANDER: OH? It seems you forgot about my hypnotism!

  202. SFX: ELECTRIC CRACKLE

  204. SANDER: What's this? Why aren't you under my spell?
  205.  
  206. ANNA: Every act needs to shake things up a bit, otherwise they become stale and predictable. Just like yours.

  208. SANDER: What? What is this? I'm floating!
  209.  
  210. ANNA: You aren't the only one who knows a few magic tricks. Your crime spree ends here.

  212. SANDER: Please, you have to tell me how you are doing this. I must know!

  214. ANNA: You of all people should know that a magician never reveals their secrets.
