Magic

Overall, there are only three known forms of what’s called ‘magic.’

Alchemy: Not exactly flashy. Alchemy is your blend of magic and science; the user creates various serums or potions through the use of several ingredients and regeants, which may be used to cure diseases, enhance strength, and so forth. Alchemists are highly valuable-- so much that they’re often stolen by rivalling nations for ransom. They’re the only form of magic that won’t be executed on sight (but may amount certain value among the criminal world.)

The Occult: True ‘magic’ that creates your classic fireball and so forth is illegalized by most of the world. It is referred to as The Occult; spells cast by Occultists usually require some form of sacrifice from their part, most commonly blood.  Occultists are hunted by the Church for their acts in creating the rift several years ago, resulting in the brief collapse.


Artifacts are considered to be occult in nature, as they’re often believed to have been constructed through the use of raw magic. As a result, they’re often shunned, but the user isn’t necessarily hunted.


Changelings(The Peculiar): Changelings are what the scientists use to label any form of human or creature that have been born with a unique or unnatural trait or power. This power or trait varies from each individual.

They are linked to the occult, and are likewise hunted by the law. Peculiar creatures are seen as trophy-beasts for hunters to mount upon their wall.
