  1. (Monitor) ViewSonic VX2758 Optimal Configuration (27" 1440p 144Hz IPS)
  2. Used the Contrast & RGB values from rtings.com as a starting point:
  3. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/viewsonic/vx2758-2kp-mhd
  4.
  5. Monitor's OSD (On-Screen Display) Settings:
  6. -------------------------------------------
  7. View Mode:
  8. • Standard
  9.
  10. Color Adjust:
  11. • Contrast = 72
  12. • Brightness = Preference 20~30 (17 is 100 nits —— Originally had this much higher, but the more you use it, the more you gravitate towards 20)
  13. • Color Temperature:
  14. • User Color = 93-95-98 (R-G-B)
  15. • Color Space = RGB
  16. • Color Range = Full Range (Limited crushes blacks A LOT/lost detail)
  17.
  18. Manual Image Adjust: (Some settings are unavailable at 1440p 144Hz)
  19. • Blue Light Filter = 15 (Personal preference — Here I'm simply mitigating some of the overly harsh blues while maintaining color accuracy)
  20. • Black Stabilization = 50 (Default —— 50 likely counts as "off" instead of 0)
  21. • Response Time = Ultra Fast (Makes a clear improvement on testufo.com/framerates)
  22.
  23. Setup Menu:
  24. • 1ms Mode = Off (Forces ~9 Brightness, but makes a huge improvement on testufo.com/framerates)
  25. • Resolution Notice = Off (Annoying popup notification during games)
  26. • OSD Timeout = 60 Seconds
  27. • Power Indicator = Off (If you don't want the power light glaring in your peripheral vision — still appears when toggling power states)
  28. • ECO Mode = Energy Saving Off (AKA Disabled)
  29. "Memory Recall" farther down this menu is a Factory Reset option.
  30.
  31.
  32. You must force browsers to use sRGB color profiles or else their colors will be horrible / washed out:
  33. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  34. This color issue seems isolated to browsers, or applications utilizing browsers within them, such as Discord and Steam.
  35. ...meaning colors on the desktop and in games should already be fine, and this shouldn't be the monitor's fault.
  36.
  37. Found at these URLs: (enter these into their address bar and search for "color")
  38. • FireFox — about:config
  39. gfx.color_management.force_srgb = true
  40. gfx.color_management.mode = 1 (Bonus fix for image color inconsistencies)
  41. • Google Chrome — chrome://flags
  42. Force color profile = sRGB
  43. • Microsoft Edge — edge://flags
  44. Force color profile = sRGB
  45. Toggling "Hardware Acceleration" (HWA) in software that appears washed out may also fix colors.
  46. → Sometimes toggling it back on afterwards maintains the correct colors (ON is generally desired)... or my changes below played a part.
  47. → Restarting the program after toggling is likely required to see colors change.
  48.
  49. I made changes in Windows "Color Management" that may have fixed colors universally despite the above; not sure exactly what, but my recommended process won't hurt:
  50. • In the Advanced tab, click "Change system defaults..." at the bottom.
  51. • In the new window, go to Advanced again, set "Device profile" to "sRGB virtual device model profile"
  52. • Go to the Devices tab, select this monitor from the dropdown, check the box underneath saying "Use my settings for this device"
  53. • Click the "Add..." button and select "sRGB virtual device model profile" again.
  54. • After adding that, select/highlight the profile, then click "Set as Default Profile"
  55. • Configure other monitors at this point if you need to.
  56. • "Close" the window.
  57. • In the Devices tab of the original window, click "Profiles" and "Reset my settings to the system defaults", which grabs the defaults you just made.
  58. • Finally, in the Advanced tab, make sure "Device profile" is set to "System default" and click "Reload current calibrations".
  59. • "Close" the window.
  60.
  61. If none of the above works and you're still experiencing unusual colors or other issues:
  62. • Make sure Windows Color Filters are disabled, including Night Light.
  63. • NVIDIA Control Panel:
  64. → Within "Change resolution" make sure to "Use NVIDIA color settings" and change "Output dynamic range" to Full for each monitor.
  65. → An identical setting exists within the sections for "Adjust video color/image settings" which may or may not be required.
  66. • Make sure display drivers are up-to-date for your particular GPU, and reboot the PC after updating any drivers.
  67.
  68. Note: "scRGB" is the same as "sRGB" except it "uses HDR where available" — I don't believe this monitor supports HDR, so they act the same.
  69. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  70. If OTHER monitors are too bright and their brightness doesn't go any lower, their brightness can be adjusted in the NVidia Control Panel.
