- In the cold, misty night, a girl was walking about the town of Sootopolis City. The slow, pleasant walk turned into a panicked run, she didn't see a Pokemon Center anywhere, and she was panicking.
- "Oh my god! This awful town doesn't have any Pokemon Centers! I guess I'll just die here on the cold, hard floor..." the girl sat down on the ground, loudly crying into the ground. She then heard a small beeping noise, and looked up, hearing the familiar voice of the Pokemon Center's nurse, telling a trainer "You better be more careful out there, make sure to stock up on Potions at the Pokemon Mart, it's on the western side of the city!" the trainer watched as a small boy walked out of the Center, holding a Zigzagoon.
- "Don't worry Mr. Cherries, even though we have no more money to buy potions, I bet we can beat Wallace if we try hard enough!" the boy walked away, going into one of the houses right next to the center.
- "Mr. Cherries? That's such a dumb name for a Zigzagoon, I bet he gets beat up by the other Pokemon for that nickname. Anyway..." the girl picked up five Poke Balls and one glimmering Great Ball, running into the Pokemon Center with a panicked expression.
- "Nurse help me! All my babies are dead!" the trainer cried, looking to the clearly worried nurse. She sent out her Pokemon, making them sit on nearby cushions as she got a form from the nurse.
- "Please don't say something like that. I thought you actually had one of your Pokemon drown getting here. It oddly happens a lot, with people making their Rock-type Pokemon fight underwater, so, very cruel indeed. Anyway, none of them are dead, the one with the most severe injury is your Porygon, which has a broken... I don't know what that is, but it's broken." She pointed to one of the Porygon's blue appendages "Okay sweetie, when you sign this form, tell me your name so I can call you out when these poor creatures are in shape." the trainer looked down to the ground, mumbling a bit.
- "My name is Trombone." she said with a straight face.
- "Trombone? Okay then. Let's hope you didn't give your Pokemon equally stupid names." the nurse grabbed Trombone's form, and carried the trainer's Mightyena into the back room.
- "Wait, be gentle with Bork, he's afraid of doctors!" the Nurse grumbled, walking out to pick up her Linoone and her Porygon.
- "Your other three Pokemon can just walk into the room. I'm not carrying your Tentacruel, and your Weezing and Ninetales look perfectly fine, to be honest." the Nurse rolled her eyes, seeing Trombone hug to her Ninetales.
- "No! Look at poor, elegant Sardonyx! She fought very well in Mossdeep, but those twins have Rock-types, and poor Sard got hit in the face with a rock!" she hugged tighter, petting her Pokemon "Don't cry, Sard, everything will be fine." Trombone looked into the elegant fox's eyes, patting her head.
- "Please, let go of your Pokemon. I will take care of them, just let go of your Ninetails." the Nurse sighed, seeing Trombone hold Sard tighter. She walked up to the trainer, picking up Sard as if she was a bundle of paper "Don't make this harder than it needs to be." Trombone watched in horror as her Tentacreul and Weezing followed behind the nurse.
- "Chlorofluorocarbons, Anemone, don't leave me!" Trombone called out. She lied on the floor, loudly sobbing "My babies, they all left me! What a cruel world it is!" Trombone loudly sobbed, but stopped as a beeping sound was heard, along with the Nurse coming out with Trombone's Pokemon.
- "Oh golly, my lovely children are okay!" Trombone smiled, hugging Chlorofluorocarbons the Weezing to her "Chlorofluorocarbons looks so happy! How did you do it, Nurse?" the Nurse shrugged, petting the Mightyena gently.
- "So, I see that you nickname your Pokemon. That's good, I hate meeting trainers that don't nickname their Pokemon, it's just so, very cruel."
- "Yeah, I agree. I got my cute Porygon from another trainer, and she didn't nickname the poor child. He's probably emotionally scarred, being referred to as "Porygon" for his whole life." Trombone looked down, then grabbed a small bundle of 1000 PokeYen notes, walking out of the Pokemon Center "Make sure none of my Pokemon get into a fight with my PoryBaby, he's still the new guy, and he's really shy!" the Nurse walked back behind the counter, looking at the six Pokemon standing in front of her. She flipped through Pokemon-based magazines, completely ignoring Trombone's Pokemon.
- Everyone got comfortable in the Pokemon Center. Sard sat on a small, yellow cushion, looking over to the Porygon.
- "I'm still really new to the idea of trainers nicknaming their Pokemon. W-what's everyone's names, and do I have a name too?" Porygon stared at Sard, looking at the other Pokemon in confusion.
- "Fine, I'm even newer than you are though, so you should know this." Sard cleared her throat, pointing to the Mightyena and Linoone "That Mightyena is named Bork, and that little nerd is Platinum. So, Bork is Platinum's father, and his mother is a Linoone named Beige. Beige is stuck in Someone's PC for unknown reasons. That balloon of volatile gases is Chlorofluorocarbons, and that Tentacruel is named Anemone. I don't know why they like each other, most likely because they are Poison-based Pokes." Sard looked at the door of the Pokemon Center, her tails swaying impatiently.
- "I can remember those names. I can easily store and remember at least eight gigabytes of documents and images. I honestly do not know why I am a Normal-based Poke. I am made completely out of programming code, that should qualify me to be classified as Electric, right?" Porygon rested on the ground with it's blue, triangular prism feet.
- "I did not really understand what you said, but be glad you're Normal-based. Those disgusting Pikachus, and unpleasant Pacharisus give Electric Pokes a bad name. Those things are bred way too much, it's horrible, now Hoenn is infested by those awful rats!" Sard shuddered, looking outside to see a Pikachu being held by its owner "How disgusting! They have no natural predators either, with all of those weird Houndoom things in Johto."
- "Wow, you don't seem to like them. Did a swarm of them like eat your parents when you were a child?" Porygon shuddered, seeing Sard glare at him "Sorry, I don't know how nature really works. I've been in a sheltered environment for my entire life. Is there even like an established food chain, or is nature like a free for all?"
- "I don't know, kid. I've lived on top of Mount Pyre my entire life. There's only like one other kind of Pokemon up there, and Arcanines are too fluffy to impose any real harm. I guess if you lived in Route 101 your entire life, then maybe. Go ask Bork, he lived in Route 101, he probably like ate young chldren when he was a Poochyena." Porygon looked over to see Bork grooming Platinum, and he got up to greet the two.
- "Hello Bork, Platinum." Porygon greeted, sitting next to Platinum.
- "Hello nerd, and don't get close to my son either. Such a precious, helpless child, only having his loving father to protect him from vicious predators. Like, um, Magikarp and probably Oddish, I don't know what's out here that could snatch away my helpless baby." Bork continued grooming Platinum.
- "Father, I am around the same level as you, Trombone trained me to be Attack-orientated, and I learned Strength and Double-Edge." Platinum spoke quietly.
- "Anyway, I'd love to know if, in Hoenn, if there is an established food chain? At least in Kanto and Unova, I know that there's an established food chain, but what about here?" Porygon looked down to Bork, seeing him likely in deep thought.
- "Of course there's a food chain on Route 101. Like those Swellow things eat those Bug Pokemon, and a herd of Poochyena could possibly eat a small child! Also if I am correct, Lotads eat the souls of crying children!" Bork stated, patting Platinum gently.
- "Oh, okay then. I know that Shedinja does steal souls, but do grass-types eat them?" Porygon looked around, setting on the ground by Platinum. Chlorofluorocarbons lazily floated by, spouting out smog in the Center.
- "Bork, I don't think you're right. I knew a Gloom as a wild Koffing, and she didn't consume any souls. Maybe she did, but none that I knew of." Chlorofluorocarbons looked over to Anemone, sighing softly before going into a coughing fit. Sard walked over, tapping her paw on the floor impatiently.
- "Trombone shouldn't be taking this long! All she needs to do is buy Hyper Potions. Well, if there's a vending machine in there, she's probably going to spend all of her money there." Sard looked out of the window, seeing Trombone finally walk out of the Pokemon Mart "Finally! She walks so slow too!" Sard walked out of the door of the Pokemon Center. She jumped into the water, swimming towards Trombone. She stopped, seeing her trainer simply standing at the Pokemon Mart's door.
- "Oh my god Trombone, can you be any slower?" Sard continued swimming towards her trainer. Suddenly, two masked men jumped out from the roof of the Mart, slowly gliding down with the use of a small jetpack-like device on their backs. The two men wore large, thick glasses that covered their eyes and face, large, brown hats, and thick, black coats. The two men landed on the ground in front of Trombone.
- "Woah, are you two like Team Magma admins?" she looked over to one of the men, noticing their larger frame "Tabitha, you look hot in that hat, I think you should wear it more often!" Trombone smiled, screaming as the two men grab at her.
- "Okay, you can let go of me now!" Trombone laughed nervously, seeing Sard "Oh hello Sard! You shouldn't be in the water like tha-" Trombone screamed as the men lifted off of the ground, flying away with Trombone.
- "Oh no. I don't think this is good"
