GP Niagara Falls on Eldrazi Stompy
120th Place 9-6

Deck Choice:
I thought the GP was this coming weekend, not this weekend, so I thought I was busy and couldn't go. When i figured out that i was galaxy braining on wednesday i signed up. I really wanted to play DNT, but i don't think i have enough reps with the deck to be successful, so i went with the legacy deck that I've played the most. Given some actual prep time, I may have played DNT. The matchups that I most wanted to dodge were BG/BUG Depths, Lands, and UW Stoneblade (because this matchup takes more brain cells that i own). The matchup I wanted to play against the most was UR delver, which is very popular right now.

Day 2 2-5
Round 15 2-0 vs. Shaun, GRIXIS CONTROL
	-Game 1 is a classic eldrazi vs grixis control nongame with chalice, matter reshaper, the works. Game 2 is another nongame after i have an answer to everything he casts (ballista for strix, dismember for gurmag, ratchet bomb for blood moon) and he dies to a mishra's factory.
	This matchup is heavily in my favor, and my sideboard plan revolves around dealing with the blood moon that inevitable ends up coming down.
Round 14 1-2 vs. Brandon, UG INFECT
	-Game 1 is a chalice+creature nongame. Game 2 i get clowned. Game 3 we assemble a complicated stack that i am way to tired to type out, and i die.
Round 13 1-2 vs. Chang, Leon (the twitter shitposter) BUG FOOD CHAIN
	-My opponent has 8529.4 times the number of twitter followers that I do. I have 17, and he has 145k! A good friend of mine plays food chain, and in all my time spent with him I have never once thought about how I'm supposed to board vs it. I take a quick game 1 after dismembering a birds and casting spaghetti at him. Games 2 and 3 I take hard mulls to 5, and die the fair to hardcasted misthollow griffins.
	Matchup is i have no fucking clue! Not sure i'm favored here.
Round 12 1-2 vs. Das, Anuraag (!!!)  UW MIRACLES
	-All things considered, I thought i played fairly well except for 1 point. I took a quick game 1, he mentored me to death game 2, game 3 I stepped into a pretty obvious terminus. It didn't cost me the game, but it set me behind far enough that opp was able to cantrip into an AK, which hit another AK, which hit another AK, drawing both a jace and a mentor.
	Matchup used to be almost free before they started playing b2b. Didn't see any, but died to mentor anyway.
Round 11 1-2 vs. Cody, GRIXIS DELVER
	-Game 1 my opponent shows grixis lands and casts bob. He stifles my matter reshaper trigger (!) I die to wastelands and gurmags. Game 2 I roll my opponent with chalice+cards. Game 3 on turn two during my draw step, opp wastelands my eldrazi temple and surgicals it.
	He hits two already in my hand + last one from my drawstep. The game quickly becomes nongame.
	Matchup should be heavily in my favor, but less so than UR delver. Like shadow, gurmag angler is a huge problem.
Round 10 2-1 vs. Liam, UB DEATH'S SHADOW
	-Game 1 at the start my opponent only shows me underground seas, blue fetches, two thoughtseizes, and dazes. By the time i realize it's shadow and not grixis delver i'm dead. Game 2 is nearly a chalice nongame, but my opponent did play a jace, vryn's prodigy and tombstalker. Game 3 I make the loosest keep of the tournament: 2 SSG 1 city of traitors ratchet bomb tks smasher. My turn 1 bomb gets forced, and my draw is chalice, which resolves, and the game ends in short order.
	On paper i should be favored heavily in this matchup, but in reality it very heavily revolves around me resolving a chalice.
	Another card that poses a problem is gurmag. If it were not for 5/5 delve threats, the MU would be a lot easier.
Round 9 0-2 vs. Joseph, UW STONEBLADE
	-Two brutal nongames. First TKS reveals 2x plow 2x tnn spell pierce brainstorm. Second TKS reveals 2 plows force council's snap tnn.
	Matchup is really hard. My opponent was not playing b2b, which is what really makes the MU hard, but i got crushed by insane hands either way.

Day 1 7-1
Round 8 2-1 vs. Todd, UR SNEAK AND SHOW
	-Game 1 is a nongame. Opp only shows me volcs, UR basics, and cantrips. I board for UR delver. Game 2 i die to show and tell+emrakul. Game 3 i keep a loose 6 that (upon reflection) only really wins if my opponent casts show and tell. Opp casts snt, i put in endbringer, he puts in emrakul. I topdeck the colorless source i need to tap down the emrakul on my opponents turn, and ping him on mine. I eventually assemble enough of a board to swing past the emmy and ping him, he topdecks the bloodmoon 1 turn too late. He swings, i sac 6 lands, he dies.
	Not a good matchup at all. I had to tap an emrakul down for 6+ turns and pray my opponent didnt draw anything. Got super lucky.
Round 7 2-1 vs. Edward, Edward UR DELVER
	-Same as before, game 1 is a nongame. Game 2 i turn 1 a ratchet bomb, it gets smash to smithereens. the t2 chalice on 1 also gets smashed. the turn 3 ratchet bomb also gets smashed. Game 3 is a nongame.
	Good matchup. Triple smash to smithereens ain't no joke
Round 6 2-0 vs. Nizar, UG INFECT
	-My opponent and I recognize each other, we have played previously in a team open. He knows i'm on eldrazi, and I know he's playing infect. We play two nongames because of chalice and jitte.
	I hate this matchup because one of my roommates(<3 you mike) plays this deck and i die to invigorate a lot. Not sure if favored or unfavored, but hard either way.
Round 5 1-2 vs. Slater, RB REANIMATOR
	-i played five turns of magic total this match
Round 4 2-1 vs. Gilles, UR DELVER
	-Game 1 is a nongame because of chalice and clock. Game 2 i get wastelanded into the ground and get bolted to death. Game 3 is another nongame because of chalice and a clock.
	Matchup is heavily in my favor, and the matchup I wanted to play agains the most in the tournament
Round 3 2-1 vs. Ryan, RUG DELVER
	-Opponent comes in after two byes (I think)
	Game 1 i resolve TKS, and he shows himself to be RUG delver instead of UR after stifling the trigger. The rest of g1 is a non-game with chalice. Game 2 i make my first big mistake. My opponent is close to dead(?) and has a 4/5 tarmogoyf, a 3/3 mongoose, and a TNN, and is tapped out. I cast a chalice on 1 despite him being tapped out, and he double dazes it, putting an artifact in the graveyard, making his goyf a 5/6. I fail to notice this, and swing in with two reality smashers, which he proceeds to eat. Game 3 my opp mulls to five with his turn 1 land being a wasteland. I play another land, he wastelands me, and then plays a trop. I wasteland the trop, and leave him landless for several turns until i can assemble a clock. In my excitement to cast a reality smasher i tap for 5, say reality smasher, and mistakenly drop a chalice on the board without looking down. I then say 'swing 5' while still looking up, and a friend watching the match calls me an idiot and i look down. I drop my smasher on the field and my opponent concedes.
	Matchup should be good, but tarmogoyf is a huge problem for eldrazi. If it were not for goyf, the matchup would be heavily in my favor.
Round 2 2-1 vs. Bill, RB REANIMATOR
	-Conceded Game 1 without showing any cards, after opponent reveals two chancellors and my hand sucks in the MU. Opponent did not board in reverent silence for game 2, making it easy. Game three landed leyline+clock and enough prison cards to make reverent silence irrelevant.
	Not sure what to think about the matchup, but I have a positive record versus it after about 2 years of playing the deck
Round 1 2-1 vs. Tyler, Ryan DEATH AND TAXES
	-Opponent was a little unexperienced, but a good magic player. Made some not-optimal tutor choices with recruiter.
	Matchup should be slightly favored for DNT, but also highly dependent on opponent's skill level.

Stuff I would change:
Main:
-1 Wasteland +1 Factory
Wasteland blew absolute chunks, and factory killed the absolute shit out of more than 1 opponent. In this current metagame, where basic lands are at an all-time high, i would rather have the reach that factory gives me over a land that did very little. Going down to two wasteland sounds extreme, but factory is crazy good.
SB:
-1 Thorn +1 Wail
I have been on the fence about cutting the third thorn for a while. I think that for the current metagame, I would want a second wail over the third thorn. I don't bring in thorn versus delver or stoneblade, and wail is very good in those matchups, as well as having upside versus miracles, show and tell, and other random garbage that happens across from me. Very versatile card that I think i would rather be spending an SB slot on rather than a thalia that can't beat face. Lot more subtleties that im too tired to think about.


Ups:
-first gp day 2 (on my first gp!), rewarded for playing tight(ish), patient, and sandbagging my sol lands until i needed them because of this stupid wasteland card.
-seeing my NJ buddies and my upstate NY buddies at the same event
-pai gow with @Karlomancer on a motel bed uwu
-dodging UW blade until day 2
Downs:
-missing a perfect day 1 by getting clowned on by reanimator.
-missing out on min cash by 10 places (110th gets 250$)
-one friend who didn't know that there is no on-site registration and drove 7 hours to make to the gp. @Karlomancer.
-one friend who registed friday after 9pm and didnt get a confirmation email.
-didnt beat anuraag das :(
Mediums:
having to find a place in niagara to stay saturday night because i didnt think i would day 2, and then having to find a ride home.
