  1. Dun would nod with pride at the fine time and energy magi his son had become. Little did he know that he was actually the eldest of the Task triplets by fourteen seconds, and had been placed with the burden of being the older brother from the moment he was born.
  2.
  3. Not that he knew. But in a way, he always knew, didn't he.
  4.
  5. "Excellent, the alloy is prepared. First, we will handle the complexities. It's time to assemble the trigger and chronomechanism first, integrate it to the Boomstick before we forge the new primary barrel."
  6.
  7. The elder would remove the broken clock, the engine core fragment, and the rift claw of husk from his satchel, setting them on the anvil before he'd clasp the alloy laden crucible with his gauntleted hand, hefting it over to the anvil before emptying a reasonable amount of the molten meltal over the objects present.
  8.
  9. Completely crazy for most people.
  10.
  11. But with a snap of his fingers, the metal froze midair as its temporal progression was ceased, allowing Task to begin as he brought the Boomstick over to his side, carving a four inch wedge where the first coil left the barrel, going right down into the former trigger mechanism before it was scrapped with an audible screech.
  12.
  13. The molten metal would be swiftly gathered and hammered with time accelerated, energy fueled intensity as the appropriate fitting was made, the riftclaw bound with wiring and reforged as a hair trigger under the barrel, rising up to where the four inch wedge had been gouged in the barrel to fit the reinforced, alloy encased lense of the polished engine chip; a magnifier for any energy that passed through from the two barrels going forth.
  14.
  15. And to the right sight of the rifle as the lense rose up, covering the right of the stock where the groove had been cut? The clock reforged in a fresh case of conduscive alloy, wired directly into the trigger mechanism and the lense as it fidgeted with condensed, cursed chrono-energy. The lense went a good six inches above where the groove in the barrel for the new mechanism was cut, clearly making room for the new barrel that was to be forged before hand.
  16.
  17. "As I finish wiring in the new mechanism and lining it with the appropriate runes, attune yourself to the chrono-accelerator with your energy. It will be your turn up button, my son. As it is integrated, you must be with it."
  18. (Dun Task)
  19. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  20.
  21. It was simple enough.
  22.
  23. Time magic had been the thing that Hades was the most interested in. Looking back to prepare for the future, and peeking into the future to alter the past. Alongside Spencer in their youth, they had explored the depths of what it meant to be a chronomancer.
  24.
  25. So applying that same energy to the mechanism before him would prove to be a simple task.
  26.
  27. "Something like Valero's clock-up, then? I get it. Here."
  28.
  29. His right foot slides back across the old wooden floor, and both hands rest just a few inches away from the accelerator. A small engine, powered by the very flow of time itself.
  30.
  31. At first, his mana pours into it with no results. But once he rolls his shoulders and swipes in a counter-clockwise motion with it, a verdian green hue strikes. And a familiar sound along with it.
  32.
  33. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
  34.
  35. Hades was shifting in and out of their current time, and bringing the device along with him.
  36.
  37. Showing it first hand what it meant to travel through time. Dipping into one alternate timeline where Dun had already completed it, then back to another where Dun had passed away prior to its invention.
  38.
  39. Just to showcase how different things could be. Seeing all of these possibilities but acting on none of them was the best path to clock the accelerator, and if it would become his primary companion, Hades could not afford to blind the device to reality of their actions.
  40.
  41. When they finally stabilize and warp back into the central timeline, Hades takes a step back and lets out a fit of laughter. The chronoaccelerator had been able to keep up with him, and the sync between the two was proof of that.
  42.
  43. As his heart beats, so does the device.
  44.
  45. "How's that?"
  46. (Hades Task)
