A Hufflepuff through and through, Lachlan is a loyal and compassionate person. He is generally kind and easy to be around, and has been described as having an easy vibe with hints of boyish charm. With a sense of humour and a good smile, Lachlan is one of those people that draws you in and tends to keep you there. He is trusting, which can be both a positive as a negative, as it is a trait very easy to exploit and can often teeter on the edges of naivete. Lachlan is naturally empathetic and finds it easy to relate to other people, their thoughts and experiences — this also gives him an edge of open-mindedness that keeps him receptive to others' differing opinions and values. This is not to suggest, however, that Lachlan does not have a strong moral code: he would describe himself staunchly as morally good, and as a person that will follow the law as long as the law is right and just.

Though intelligent, Lachlan speaks in simple, straightforward language, and likes to make himself as approachable as possible; he finds that flowery language can sometimes hinder that impression. He has a South Eastern accent and often speaks with a sociolect of English found in parts of working class London, though this is blended with the different accents he was exposed to in school. Lachlan cannot fluently speak any other languages than English, though he has a 365+ day streak on Duolingo Spanish.

It would not be necessarily accurate to describe Lachlan as "ambitious", though he does know exactly where he wants to be in life and is confident with the choices that he has made. At present, Lachlan is a Student Healer at St. Mungo's Hospital, and plans to get into regenerative practices of medical magic once he has completed his training. He has an excellent bedside manner due to his otherwise charming nature, and hopes this will assist him with (eventually) rising through the ranks of the Hospital.

He struggled greatly with mustering up the magical ability to produce a corporeal form, and was still practising by the time he'd reached his seventh year of schooling. Despite this, Lachlan persevered with his studies, and was eventually able to produce the form of an Albatross, a large seabird that surfs the ocean breeze for hours at a time. It is said that this Patronus reflects a happy-go-lucky and carefree personality.

He is yet to encounter one in the wild, which is probably a good thing as he froze immediately upon seeing the swirling manifestation of a thunderstorm barrelling towards him as if it meant to swallow him whole.

For Lachlan that day, the potions classroom filled to the brim with a heady mix of garlic, onion, thyme, cayenne pepper and bay leaves, almost as though the cauldron ahead of him had turned into a cooking pot for one of his father's delicious dishes.
