  1. Name: Orochi Hosokawa
  2. Demonic Title: Ame-no-Ohabari

  4. Gender: Trans* (Footnote 1), She/her
  5. Classification: (The) Devil
  6. Magical Style: 'Desires' and 'Severance'
  7.
  8. "This blade's destiny is to plunge into the heart of God, the one who created the order you suckle to like a child to its mother's teat."
  9.
  10. A unique demon who has existed for millennia, who repeatedly lives out regular lifespans, dies, and is reincarnated. She is the only demon with no registry in the Book of Elders. Due to her reincarnation into many lifetimes, she has lived among both humans and demons, though she is often better-accepted by humans. She has, at times, lived without memory of her greater self, but that hasn't happened again for about the last five lifetimes.
  11.
  12. In essence, she's a demon whose job is to grant the desires of those with tragic fates, who've been denied justice somehow. She's keenly aware of the suffering of those around her, and will grant the desires of those whose hearts call for her, whether human, demon, or otherwise. She can move heaven and earth, within her power, to do what's necessary, and her long life and unique perspective can open up possibilities nobody else could see.
  13.
  14. The core of her magical ability is the contract-severing blade, 'Ame-no-Ohabari'. As Orochi was created in a different manner from other demons, this blade could be said to be Entropy incarnate—sourceless, wild magic coalesced into a sword that can even kill immortal beings like the Grand Witches by striking at their 'conceptual' hearts. This is technically also her demon title, named for the blade with which Izanagi, the father god of the Shinto faith, slew his own child, Hi-no-Kagutsuchi, for causing the death in childbirth of his wife Izanami. However, she also wields a second blade, 'Tomoegozen', a regular physical kiku-ichimonji katana. *(Footnote 2)
  15.
  16. Aside from possessing a blade which can shatter magical covenants and concepts, Orochi possesses superhuman strength, speed, skill, endurance, and a physical regeneration factor far surpassing humans or other physically sturdy demons. She's also skilled in the use of sealing and exorcism talismans, and her right arm, her most demonic trait, has the texture and sturdiness of stone—as far as physical force goes, a swing from it is actually stronger than either blade, so she can use it to break objects she can't cut through. In essence, in a world of Witches who battle and live using 'concepts', Orochi is a being born to destroy that which exists at the top of the food chain.
  17.
  18. Orochi possesses a strong sense of justice, and figuratively weeps for those whose lives were destroyed by fate. She lacks much facial expression, and can appear to those who don't know her as a ruthless force of nature. However, her assault on the 'order' of false gods such as the Emperor is borne from a deep and burning love for the people around her. Essentially, she's ruthless, but that ruthlessness comes from her inherently kind and gentle character.
  19.
  20. Her interests these days include a long-lived interest in sketching, a recent taste for video games, and a great appreciation bordering on fangirling over the Vocaloid Hatsune Miku... not that she shows this often. Perhaps once she's finally reached a time she can be satisfied with, she might give becoming a mangaka a shot...? That time will almost certainly come—not just yet, but soon, surely...
  21.
  22. Footnote 1: Orochi is, physically, cisgender—that is to say, she has historically been assigned female at birth. However, at some point during her lifetimes, she came to understand that the inherent character of her gender was much closer to that of a trans woman than a cis woman. This, along with her appearance and surname being so defined, has led her to wonder where the facets of her character originated from, but she has no answer as of yet.
  23.
  24. Footnote 2: Tomoegozen is a real, physical blade, but it's also completely identical to the hereditary blade of the Inomikos, a storied Japanese family which only just recently came to a crashing halt due to an event surrounding the heir apparent, a girl named Chisa Inomiko. This blade still exists within the family, but why does this copy of that blade, which has existed within that family for centuries, exist? Even Orochi isn't entirely sure...
