Gentlemen,

I want to make you aware of a situation, that I know a number of you have already heard of.  It was brought to our attention that one of our students may have made a threatening comment directed to two classmates yesterday at school.  Several parents and students learned about this matter through social media and inaccurate rumors have spread through our community. This morning we have received a number of concerns regarding student safety.

We take any allegation of a threat very serious and it is for this reason that we investigated this matter immediately.  The police were contacted and turned it back over to school officials since they did not find any credible threat.  Based on our immediate investigation we do not believe that the allegations and rumors are credible nor have students’ safety been compromised.   We have found that inappropriate comments were made by students and we are responding accordingly.  One of the comments was taken out of context and was interpreted by by-standers as a veiled threat.
