  1. LAST TIME ON SHONEN QUEST
  2.
  3. YOU UPGRADED THANTATOS WITH A TRANSFER GATE TO AND FRO FROM THE DARKWORLD AS WELL AS DISCOVERED ONE OF THE SCROLLS YOU PICKED UP HAD A METHOD TO TAME DARKWORLD CREATURES AND TURN THEM BIO-MECHANICAL. FOR WHAT LIES AHEAD YOU AND YOUR COUSIN?
  4.
  5. The past few days have been mostly fine, but your search for a Devilsaur has been fruitless. You had told Gal your discovery and while the idea of a giant robot interested her, the thought of capturing a Darkworlder beast put a damper on that lid.
  6.
  7. “I dunno, Guy, seems like something like that crazy scientist that made that zombie.”
  8.
  9. “Frankenstein. And it’s not like that. I’m just taking its soul and shoving it into a metal body that’s similar to its original one.”
  10.
  11. “…You know, your eye shone like a kid on Christmas when you said that,” Gal said, looking over a ridge. A canyon region is where you were dropped off, a river running down the gorge separating you from your other classmates.
  12.
  13. “Gallll! Guyyy! You two alright?” Anna cried out.
  14.
  15. “Yeah! We’ll meet you back in the classroom! We’ll be careful!” You shouted back, already seeing your classmates start to walk to higher ground.
  16.
  17. “Well, since we’re all alone now…“said Gal before-
  18.
  19. RRRRROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR
  20.
  21. Gal jumped in the air and squeezed you tight, getting frightened by the loud bellow. “W-WHAT WAS THAT?”
  22.
  23. “Proof we’re not alone, and stop squeezing so tight!” jabbing her in the ribs so she will release you. She jumps back, holding her side, giving you a teary eyed look.
  24.
  25. “But what if it was going to eat me? Wouldn’t you be my knight and protect me?”
  26.
  27. “I’m more a wizard. You’re the one that swings the sword, *Kishi-Hime*.” Due to a majority of your class being from outside Japan as well as the native students picking it up, you don’t really speak Japanese. Even Gal herself speaks English about 90% of the time, only breaking when she’s frightened. The nip from your tongue flows out and Gal shudders as it washes over her.
  28.
  29. “Your drawl is cute when you speak Japanese. Really shows that you’re a gaijin.” You snort as you turn in the direction of the roar and walk.
  30.
  31. A few minutes of walking and both of you pick the scent of blood in the air, prickling at your nose and making both gag. Turning around a corner, nearly jump back at the scene before you.
  32.
  33. In the middle of a large open space with more paths leading to it, a massive Devilsaur, larger than anything you’ve ever seen, tearing into another one of its kin, ripping flesh, drinking black blood and swallowing chunks down. Hocks of tossed meat and bone and gore coat the walls. And that’s all before you look at the beast itself. Scars covering its body displaying the muscle, yet frenzied energy crackles from inside, pulsating red and releasing steam as if cooling down the body. Around its head, more energy crackles as if to make a mane showing its dominance over everything.
  34.
  35. A smaller raptor-like darkworlder runs from one of the paths, grabbing what seems to be a rib with some meat left in its jaws. It almost makes it out before the Devilsaur picks it up in its maw and crushes it in its mouth, the mane forming at the head as it bites down, slamming to the ground to hold with its foot before ripping the raptor apart.
  36.
  37. “G-Guy-“
  38. “No need to say, we’re going.”
  39.
  40. You both back way before you hear another roar and feel thundering steps follow you.
  41.
  42. “Go, go!” you yell, grabbing Gal’s hand and short teleporting away, trying to escape. But it must smell fear, for it never gives up its chase. You soon see a crossroad ahead of you.
  43.
  44. “Guy! I see the river over here. We can probably lose it there!” Gal says, pointing to the left.
  45.
  46. To your right, you see what seems to be trail carved into the wall, certainly not wide enough for that thing to walk, leading up. And in front, you see can only see the open path. Gal can’t even see the end. But which path?
  47.
  48. >Left (River, chances of losing the Devilsaur 40%)
  49. >Right (Trail, chances of losing the Devilsaur 55%)
  50. >Center (???, chances of losing the Devilsaur ???)
  51.
  52.
  53. >Right (62)
  54.
  55. “The trail! We’ll be able to lose it there!” You pull Gal as you warp up, quickly gaining the lost ground you lost before you hear a beep. Looking at your COMP, you see that Thanatos’ battery is low, barely enough to teleport about 5 more times. You look back and see the Devilsaur try to climb up, only to find out it can’t put one foot in front of the other. You and Gal nearly giggle before a crackling energy ball is fired from its mouth and lands behind you, blowing you forward.
  56.
  57. Thinking it’s time to keep running, Gal pulls you, along, her speed and strength nearly pulling your arm out of your socket before you hear the roars of the reptile echo behind you. “Hah, hah, hah, close, too close. Need-need a breather.” Gal sits down on a rock, panting as you lean against a wall, clutching your chest.
  58. “That thing was huge. No way we can fight that thing.”
  59.
  60. *Beep Beep* You look down at your COMP and see a message from Thanatos. *Darkworld Energy analyzed. Location saved. Transport Gate has 2/5 locations left stored.*
  61.
  62. “…We’re not coming back here again, are we?”
  63.
  64. “….Maybe?”
  65.
  66. “MAYBE? THAT THING TRIED TO KILL US, GUY!” Gal jumps up, spreading her arms wide. “IT WAS BIGGER THAN AN 18 WHEELER.”
  67.
  68. “But I need a Devilsaur to-“
  69.
  70. “NO. WE ARE GOING TO FIND THE OTHERS AND-“
  71.
  72. A howl is heard along with a bolt of lightning nearly singeing Gal’s hair. The both of you turn and see a yellow-green dog creature, lighting crackling off it. Quickly, you go through the library in your mind before find the name. “It’s a Sparkwolf! We’re at a disadvantage.” The Sparkwolf howls once more, more lightning striking around it as it quickly advances.

  84.
  85.
  86. >Ghost Sword: 91
  87. >Attack: 86+16
  88.
  89. Gal quickly rushes ahead and slashes, her swords glowing red as they cut through the Sparkwolf’s flesh, black blood flying and splattering on the wall. Chanting, you summon up a sword and infuse it with wind before shooting it off, a ghost of the sword following behind it as the real sword pierces the side but the ghost mostly deflected by the lighting flowing through its body, only leading to a gash on the side of the body.
  90.
  91. A howl erupts from its mouth, Gal leaping back, and avoiding the sparks that fly off, knocking the sword from its new fleshy sheath. It stares at the both of you, a sense of murder in its eyes before it leaps up in the air, two balls of lighting encircling it before they fire off, one at each of you! Gal immediately makes a move to jump back, but what about you?
  92.
  93. >Thunder wall
  94. >Short Teleport (5 uses left)
  95. >Chain Get Away
  96.
  97.
  98. >Chain Get Away: 98
  99. >Jump Away: 50-20
  100.
  101. Sending a chain back, you shoot backwards, not just avoiding the lighting, but also tossing a sword at the wolf and having it cut its nose, sending its head in an awkward angle. You smirk before you hear a scream of pain to your side. Turning your head, you see Gal finishing getting shocked by the lightning and collapsing.
  102.
  103. “Gal!” You chain your way to her, standing in front as the demon falls on its side. It tries to get back up, but the hit you did must have disoriented it. You have a few moments to think of your next course of action.
  104.
  105. >Swords (Regular, Napalm, Freeze, Lighting Rod, Pierce, Ghost)
  106. >Chains (Regular, Stun, Freeze)
  107. >Magic (Magic Missile, Fireball, Large Fireball, Water Ball, Water Blade, Earth Bullet, Earth Spear, Wind Cutter, Spark (Close range), Bolt, Thunder Wall, Nuke, Pierce Up)
  108. >Charge Sword
  109. >Bail, you need to get Gal out of here.
  110.
  111.
  112. >Freeze Chains: 81+5
  113.
  114. “Chains,” you say, causing the metal to appear and wrap around the wolf, pinning it to the ground. It struggles to rise up, breaking the ones holding its tail down, mouth getting ready to roar before you summon more to wrap around its mouth, shutting it up and forcing it further down to the ground.
  115.
  116. “Now, Freeze!” the chains turn to ice, frost covering the affected areas, its legs frozen to the ground and its mouth shut. It tries to pull out, but the ice on its back holds it down, not allowing it get up.
  117.
  118. You pick up Gal and if she was awake, would probably squeal over being princess carried, but not the time for those thoughts. You make a look at the path ahead, finding it to be clear. Ready to send a chain forward, a *beep* is heard from your COMP.
  119.
  120. *Disabled Demon located. Capture is ready to be activated. Process will take 1-5 minutes.
  121. Y/N for activation?*
  122.
  123. You think before you hear a roar you never wanted to hear again, behind you. How the hell did that Devilsaur get up here?! The path was too small for it!
  124.
  125. Thinking about your choices, you could capture the Sparkwolf and make a quick dash for it, hopefully the process will not take long. Or, you could just leave it and hope it will eat that instead of you.
  126.
  127. >Capture the SparkWolf
  128. >Leave it. There will be more to come.
  129.
  130.
  131. >Capture the SparkWolf: 80+6
  132.
  133. God, you can’t believe you’re doing this. Gal is knocked out, you have the hugest demon you’ve seen on your tail and you’re about to capture another one. “Activate the capture.” Another beep is heard and a piercing pain is felt in your head, the magic connecting your mind to it.
  134.
  135. ‘Hairless creatures. Hurt. Kill. Eat. Drink blood.’ The thoughts of the creature flow in your head, bouncing all over. You nearly reel back and end it, but you continue onwards, forcing your will over its.
  136.
  137. ‘Hey, dumbass, shut your mouth. I won. Now you serve under me,’ you reach out your thoughts to it, feeling its surprise when it hears your internal voice.
  138.
  139. ‘Creature, kill. Quiet. Fight. No tricks.’
  140.
  141. ‘No. You lost. Aren’t you demons all about “The Strong over the Weak?” You were weak, I was strong. Now *kneel*,’ forcing your mind over its, feeling the resistance as it fights of your mental swords, but it must be fatigued over your fight as it quickly loses steam.
  142.
  143. ‘No, no, no. Kill, eat, eat, eat…..eat?......Serve.’
  144.
  145. You look at its eyes and see the last of the rebellious spark fade before you feel a click in your mind and the connection breaks.
  146.
  147. *Capture complete. Sending to Storage. 2/5 Slots remaining.*
  148.
  149. As soon as that message comes up, the SparkWolf disappears with a lightning bolt up and one of Thanatos’ arms is raised, a pseudo lightning rod, causing the bolt to hit it and fade away. Looking at your comp, you see it only took nearly two minutes to capture. Who knows how long capturing that Deviljho might take? Must all depend on how tired out it must be when the capture is activated and your mental strength.
  150.
  151. “Alright. Let’s get out of here.” You throw a chain forward and pull yourself, the roars of the Devilsaur behind you. Hopefully this leads to somewhere safe.
  152.
