In a distant fraction of the universe, worlds are vast flat expanses that float awfully close to one another. Stars of lightning provide light and warmth, and monstrous Phantoms once ruled the world. Until one day, a young ruler, from a distant Land (as these worlds are called) united his followers in a desperate stand against the Phantom menace (and oppression).

One day, in the last legs of his fight (and that of humanity as a whole), a strange creature (mostly agreed upon to be one of the mysterious 'Stone Men') visited Mim, and left behind five relics. Mim made good use of the relics, and with them, he drove back the Phantoms. After a long and arduous fight, the humans with Mim in charge had won, and begun to establish their civilization.

The Fourth Order (as it was called, for coming after the Third Order of Phantoms) was established, and everything seemed alright for a while. Under these circumstances, a new caste of powerful and significant individuals arose. They were called Travelers. Named thus, due to their ability to bridge the void, in some way or another (Although the Lightning seemed to be the most popular).

Mages, Lightning Chosen, geniuses, wealthy folks, airship captains, leaders all claimed the status of Traveler upon first bridging the Void between Lands.
