Puri Puri Twitch Retirement

Puri_Puri Subscribers, Viewers, and Fans of the channel:


Thank you so much for the support over the last year of my Twitch partnership, and the two years of dedicated streaming prior to that.


Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and I will be indefinitely suspending my regular full-time streams and will only be doing sporadic streams in the future. This was a hard decision to make, but a year ago when I got partner I set private goals and milestones for myself in regards to the stream, and told myself that if I did not meet them, then I should move on.


I hate to say it, but I’m not even close to making the full-time streaming gig financially viable, considering I spent roughly 12 hours per day, 7 days a week either working on the stream or actually doing the live stream. It’s just not workable as a retro stream, even if I “sell out” further. I feel that I have achieved a decent amount of success by running my channel by my standards and on my own terms, but the reality of the situation is that I cannot continue the show as-is.


The plan moving forward is to spend more of my time on my family business programming/research gigs, as well as something else I’ve been working on in the background, with the occasional stream (think like ~3 per month, I’ll give advance notice beforehand) when I can.


I will still be around on Twitch in various chats throughout the nights. I’ll also be available to contact regarding speedrun stuff via various methods I’ll list later.


What this means for RPG Limit Break
I will still be attending RPG Limit Break in May, and I will still keep in practice for commentary/backup for the Alundra run. I committed to this run, and I intend to give it my best.


What this means for SGDQ
I will not be submitting games to SGDQ. I *may* attend for a day or two to meet up with speedfriends, but we’ll see how that pans out cost-wise. I won’t rule out future GDQ trips as a general attendee.


What this means for PSXplosion
Making progress in PSXplosion will likely be the focus of my sporadic streams in the future, as I would still like to continue this project. I will probably have to change the format that games are chosen with (perhaps just a straight-up random selection) to accommodate the large amount of time between sessions.


What this means for speedruns
My streaming focus is going to shift almost entirely to PSXplosion for streams in the future, so with the exception of Shenmue 3 stuff (see below) I have effectively retired from speedrunning. I intend to keep my notes for runs public and available, and I still want to make tutorials for runs I’ve done that don’t already have resources.


What this means for Shenmue 3 and (the rumored) Shenmue 1&2 remasters:
I’ll definitely set aside time to stream these.


Subscribers
Make sure to set your channel sub to “Not Renew”, or else you will continue to be charged for future months. You can find the subscription page by clicking on the card icon on the left side of the page in a browser. You can also change your sub setting in the Twitch mobile app. If you have the “Cancel” option listed for my channel, use that instead -- it will reverse the charge rather than just not auto-renew.

Sorry about the abruptness of this, but I feel the change needed to happen. Streaming full-time the last three years has been a lot of fun, and I feel I made some great friends on Twitch that I hope to keep in touch with in their own streams and at events like RPGLB and GDQs. I will definitely still be around, and I look forward to being able to enjoy my favorite streams along with you all.
