- Adrian waits for everyone to sit down. Once they do (or don't), he makes his way into his study. The scholar promptly returns with a leather bound tome tucked under his arm.
- He sits, opening it up as he looks towards his three guests.
- "You've been away a while, Ceres. I'll start by giving you an update. Myself, Sima and Dirk are done with the design for the A1-M1 Shell. Once we gather the required materials we will begin constructing the first prototype." He pauses. The undead shifts his attention towards Rebecca.
- "Rebecca has donated a spire shard to the research and development department to perfect the flawed method of spire shard necromancy."
- A gust of wind appears beneath the tome. It floats over in front of the three, presenting them with detailed notes and design schematics.
- "Penelope has already seen the design. Take a look. I have created a draft for a device that will correct the flaws associated with the process."
- (Adrian Montbell)
- Ceres would find herself seated in the home with a curious expression as she was immediately whisked off into a meeting again. A small chuckle, and a somewhat thankful expression, at the fact that Adrian could keep things moving while she was gone.
- Worry had originally set in that things would stagnate!
- "Yes I had to take a bit of personal time, but I am here now in full swing." The Necromancer smiled across the table before listening to his words.
- A Spires Shard? A surprised blink and then a skeptical glare at Adrian. If this was another bomb, or a staff, she might lay an egg.
- Fortunately it didn't seem to be, and the man would have good news for Necromancy. A hand gtakes the notes and shematics to look them over with a very stern stare. A gaze that looked for any potential failure, or flaw.
- "Hm...I see what the goal of this is and I like the direction you are taking it. I am going to retrieve Gorou and Tranen soon to further look into their condition...For now this is looking nice, Adrian."
- A nod and a bright smile as the notes are placed down, and then eyebrows raised as she looked over at Rebecca.
- "...I'm surprised you parted with a shard considering our past uses of them. Thank you."
- (Ceres Deadwood)
- She grabs and pulls a seat away to sit next to Ceres and Drew. She folds her arms in her lap, sitting up straight while Adrian explains the situation to them.
- "Yes, I believe you all are aware of the Sacrifice Tranen was given. I have a nagging feeling that she may need another later in life. And we can only fight so many wars and capture so many soldiers before we run out."
- She holds her head at Ceres's words. "they had to really convince me to part with it. This is to fix Adrian as well, afterall. I originally thought he wanted the shard just to fix his skin temporarily."
- She looked over the diagrams and the design presented. "Going to need quite a bit of materials for this. But, I imagine the Gao fort is absolutely SWIMMING with ore."
- (Rebecca Ravenseer)
- The redheaded necromancer would shake his head at Rebecca's comment. "From one of my conversations with Wen Gao, they would take all the Ore back to Ardent, so we wouldn't get it in the event we took it from them." He'd say with a sigh.
- "Also, I would advise keeping Tranen's 'feedings' to their absolute minimum." He would say, frowning slightly as he leaned on the table.
- (Drew Idd)
- Adrian crosses his arms over his chest, a finger raised to his chin. He seemed to be pondering something for a minute, but soon after allowed his attention to divert back to the topic at hand.
- "There is still another component of the device that needs to be worked out. Take a look at the body-shaped indentation to the orchilacum base as it is shown in the diagram."
- He didn't need to look at it. The scholar had long since memorized his own schematics. Not being able to sleep at night had its advantages.
- "As you can see, the shape of the runic arrays are carved directly into the orchilacum. The metal itself is being fitted to accentuate the shape of the runes for maximum efficiency."
- He taps his fingers on his chin, smiling as he holds his other finger up.
- "You three failed to ask me a set of very important question what happens when the body is placed into the center? How will the spire shard be utilized within the confines of this device?"
- "Allow me to address those concerns as to clarify any confusion that might arise in the future. So please, ask any questions you may have regarding the device I've proposed."
- (Adrian Montbell)
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "Hello Hello."
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "By the by- Nyphadora is in need of a Necromancy teacher."
- Rebecca Ravenseer says, "Hello Istvan."
- Drew Idd says, "Afternoo-"
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "I'm conscripting one of you to teach her."
- Adrian Montbell exclaims, "Ah, Istvan. Sit, sit!"
- Rebecca Stares at Ceres.
- (Rebecca Ravenseer)
- Istvan sits.
- (Istvan Boldizsar)
- Drew Idd says, "I'll teach her."
- Rebecca Ravenseer exclaims, "Wonderful!"
- Adrian Montbell says, "We're discussing a very important topic."
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "Fantastic."
- Drew Idd says, "Also Adrian wants your Tyrium."
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "HAHA! No."
- Drew Idd says, "To make it so Tranen doesn't have to eat people to live."
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "Oh! Great, our original idea."
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "I thought we had made a core for her shard when we resurrected her, but it seems..."
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "That it didn't... Actually happen."
- Adrian Montbell says, "No. A core alone is insufficient."
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "Schrodinger's Shard Core."
- Drew Idd says, "..."
- Drew Idd says, "Schrodinger...."
- Adrian Montbell says, "I will give you the run down of what I am proposing."
- Drew Idd says, "Schrodinger....."
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "Hush Drew."
- Drew would appear to fall into a contemplative trance, mumbling the word Schrodinger to himself...
- (Drew Idd)
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "Do not name your next child 'Schrodinger'."
- Adrian flicks his fingers. The tome that was open in front of the three necromancers was carried by a gust of wind over towards Istvan. In front of him sat detailed designs and elegantly crafted notes regarding the proposed device.
- "Ask any questions you may have, Istvan. I will address them."
- (Adrian Montbell)
- Istvan reads. Fuck.
- (Istvan Boldizsar)
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Poor Istvan, a busy man even when he doesn't have a title."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Have we fully narrowed down why she even needs to eat?...In theory, the Spire Shard Necromancy should be perfect, yet it isn't. There are a few things that could be causing the issues."
- Adrian Montbell says, "I-"
- Adrian Montbell asks, "Are you /sure/ you read the notes, Ceres?"
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Yes, you believe it would need a suitable containment unit."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "However, it shouldn't...Need life force, regardless.. Er...How to properly say it..."
- Adrian Montbell says, "I do not believe. I know. I established the theory regarding spire shards and mana relativity. I'll tell you why Tranen needs to feed."
- Adrian Montbell says, "One. The method was flawed."
- Adrian Montbell says, "Two. There was not a proper catalyst."
- Drew Idd says, "The answer is that Sachiko is an idiot."
- She clears her throat, trying to direct attention back to Adrian about the design he was proposing. This was important to her. Spires Necromancy without the debilitating flaw of sacrifice would be an astounding boon to Valmasia's Necromantic efforts.
- She looked down at the tome before them. "So we will need to create an orichalcum base and inscribed it with runes...Hrmm, that's something I could easily do with a bit of assistance." She nods.
- She raises a brow at Adrian. "Well, go on then. HOW will the spire shard be used?"
- (Rebecca Ravenseer)
- Adrian Montbell says, "Three. Th-"
- Drew would grumble , leaning back in his chair.
- (Drew Idd)
- Ceres Deadwood asks, "Adrian...Did anyone give you the...proper notes from Hatsune?"
- Adrian Montbell says, "No. She is wrong."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Well, yes. She says that."
- Adrian Montbell says, "I will not refer to inaccurate notes."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "She admits that she is wrong and details where she went wrong."
- Rebecca Ravenseer says, "The notes from Hatsune used capture cubes as a basis."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Mhm."
- Adrian Montbell says, "Yes. She is an utter idiot."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Necromancy is not Daemon Capturing."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "But it's a basis....Where we went wrong isn't the utilization of the Shard, maybe just the runes required to do the binding. A woman, with no knowledge on Necromancy or it's divine workings, made binding runes for the body based on ones used to capture monsters.."
- Adrian Montbell says, "A flawed basis. We are an organized team. They were not. They were not researchers. They had no experience academic-based critical thinking. I refuse to look at anything they procured."
- Ceres Deadwood says, ".....Adrian."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "What I am saying...Is that they fucked up, and that we can look at exactly WHERE they fucked up, and fix that to fix the entire Necromancy."
- Adrian Montbell says, "We /know/ where they fucked up. They did not have a catalyst. Their runes were not sufficient either."
- Drew Idd says, "I'm personally going to agree with Adrian."
- Drew Idd says, "Yes the accomplished results, but they had Dominique there."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "That it's the shards untapped power that makes her eat souls, and not the Runes meant to tame monsters?..."
- Drew Idd says, "Which is likely the only reason it worked at all."
- Drew Idd says, "..."
- Drew Idd asks, "When did he say that?"
- Adrian Montbell says, "Ceres. I created the first capture cube. I discovered the law of mana relativity and spire shards. Trust me when I tell you, they were working with things they had virtually no knowledge of. I do."
- Adrian Montbell says, "We can do this entirely without any of their help. Anything they give us would take us two steps back."
- Drew Idd says, "He just said that consulting the notes of someone who clearly had no idea what they were doing isn't quite as helpful as starting from scratch."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Well that's what I'm saying. His notes here say: "Dominique and her peers' first mistake was assuming they could properly harness the full potential of a spire shard without a suitable device to serve as a catalyst.""
- Ceres Deadwood says, "What I am saying is that it's Hatsunes foolish misuse of Runes that may be causing the issues."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "An incompatible set of runes used for monsters to instead bind a soul."
- Adrian Montbell says, "Yes. That is certainly part of it, without a doubt."
- Adrian Montbell says, "But it is not the only flaw."
- Adrian Montbell says, "I simply listed their /first/ mistake. I didn't bother listing their second, third, or fourth."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Hm, alright. I just assume the Shard can work at maximum capacity with the Soul bound to it, and the persons magical circuits running directly into it."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "So a catalyst then."
- [01:11:35] Drew cowers in fear of Istvan's impending wall.
- (Drew Idd)
- Adrian Montbell says, "Yes. A catalyst."
- Adrian Montbell says, "That, and a restructured runic theory specific to what we are doing"
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Mhm. I definitely am of the belief that it's the runes in question that are causing the issue."
- "Do you know what my armor is made out of?"
- Istvan removes the helmet of Tyrium from his bag and places it on the table with a loud thud. The hunger for mana emanates from it, Istvan's gaze flicking up to meet each researcher in kind.
- "In Valmasia," He'd begin with a drawl, "The Neries blacksmiths that made this armor anointed and treated the leathers within it in order to draw and channel the mana from the Tyrium's siphoning into the magi that wears it. Is that not the sort of thing you are attempting to replicate?"
- It was time to show that Istvan was paying attention.
- "No adamantite pillars, no orichalcum rings... Merely treated, enchanted leather that is anointed and covered with fine oils. Nothing so flamboyant as what you have in mind." He'd explain. "If you're going to use a mana-siphoning technique, Researchers, you would do well to ask the experts on Tyrium."
- He cracks his neck, leveling a gaze to Adrian as he tosses the notes onto the table once more.
- "You are making a mountain out of a mole-hill. I am not confessing to be the sole voice of reason, but make sure you are employing Tyrium correctly." He kicks his armored boots up onto the desk, leaning back.
- "Because this is the Tyrium for my personal project you're asking me to part with, and I will not waste more than is necessary."
- (Istvan Boldizsar)
- Drew Idd asks, "What is your project?"
- Drew Idd asks, "Is it secret?"
- Rebecca Ravenseer says, "Well he has armor already..."
- Istvan flexes his hand with a grin.
- (Istvan Boldizsar)
- Ceres Deadwood says, "..Hm, a cute Tyrium daughter...."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "...I like it Istvan."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Good idea."
- Drew Idd says, "...."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Let's get to work."
- Istvan Boldizsar says, "Nothing so crude."
- Ceres Deadwood says, "Wha-"
- Drew Idd says, "Also."
- Melli says, "Ah-hem, sorry."
- Rebecca Ravenseer says, "Ahh, good morning Penelope."
- Adrian looks towards Istvan, then towards Rebecca. He grabs the notes and fixes his gaze to the female necromancer, a smile tugging at his face.
- "Based on the theory of spire shards and mana relativity, we know the following about spire shards: they can mimic, combine, and amplify mana to an unprecedented degree."
- The scholar leans forwards, resting his elbows on the table as he folds his hands under his chin.
- "That is precisely what makes them so suitable for a perfected variation of standardized necromancy. That, and their divine essence."
- He looks towards Istvan.
- "The concept of a core being utilized to properly contain the power of the spire was not a bad idea. In fact, it might have proved useful under the right circumstances. As previously mentioned, there was no catalyst to properly contain the spire of influence erected by the spire shard. As Ceres mentioned, the runes being utilized in tandem with the ritual were insufficient."
- "All of the pieces need to work together, in tandem. Like the gears that turn an antique clock. If a single screw or spring is missing the hands do not tick and you cannot accurately tell the time."
- Adrian leans back in his chair, looking over his notes once again.
- "Before we can develop an arc reactor that is properly integrated into the catalyst, we need to develop the runic theory. That, in addition to the abundance of materials being utilized to properly channel and redirect the energy, is what is going to make this work."
- A neutral gaze is casted towards the Neries, the scholar resting a hand on his own chin once again.
- "Tell me, Istvan. Are we working with armor? Are we making a gauntlet, sword or shield?" He pauses. "I'll answer that for you. We are not. What we are doing here could quite literally, change the world as we know it. This research stems beyond personalized weapons and customized protection for a single person."
- He almost seemed upset, but his face didn't show it. All the same, a certain venom laced his strained and scarred voice.
- "The research and development department will acquire what is needed, and nothing less."
- (Adrian Montbell)
- Ceres had sighed as she looked over the notes, pulling out the notes of Hatsunes that were almost immediately shut down by Adrian for little reasons other than "No". Instead of building off of the base they had created? He seemed to want to take it into an entirely different direction.
- A small frown and a sigh, before a swift nod and a smile.
- "We'll begin construction. There is no reason not to make this reactor....Tarquin, I want you to head the construction of it alongside me and Adrian. Adrian's runes will be effective, while my knowledge of circuits and Necromancy can help the efficiency of such a catalyst."
- Taking over now, the woman begin making the plans for this while speaking calmly.
- "I'll draw up a few schematics...Rebecca, I want you to begin looking into alternative Rune Writing methods. Use what Hatsune started, and build away from the Daemon capture elements to make it more suited to our Necromancy."
- A tap on the notes, an extra copy pushed over to her just in case she had lost Hastunes initial ones. A copy also left on the table for Adrian, should he be interested in reading in the future.
- "Once we work through the issues and failures caused by Hatsune's runic mistakes, and Sachiko's lack of knowledge, we should have a working basis for Perfect Necromancy."
- Her own papers were stacked neatly and put into a bag before she looked around at everyone.
- "Any questions, comments, concerns or objections?"
- (Ceres Deadwood)
- Istvan tuts and rolls his eyes, removing his feet from the table and grabbing the helmet. The hilarity of being called Tarquin soon subsides.
- "We are not making armors, weapons or shields, you're right. But you are working with a metal that my people have been using for very nearly a millennia. The application - the practice is the same. And if you're looking for a magic that siphons mana, once more I must point your attention to my people. But speaking of my people..."
- He rises to a stand and offers a two-fingered salute.
- "I must be away. Let me know when you've cracked the code on the runes, and I will arrive - Not Tarquin - to help with the construction of your reactor."
- He turns in front of the door, giving a brief wink.
- "Perhaps you might even find out a way to apply the reactor without breaking the bindings on Tranen and instantly killing her, hm?" He'd say beforedipping out the door.
- (Istvan Boldizsar)
- Drew Idd says, "Seeya around Istvan."
- Istvan Boldizsar exclaims, "Deuces!"
- Rebecca Ravenseer says, "...Well then."
- Ceres would squint at the boy quietly now before glaring at Drew. He kept it in a back pack!? Slowly Ceres' arms wrapped around the boy protectively now as she sat there with a pout. "Stupid Drew..."
- (Ceres Deadwood)
- Adrian waves to Istvan as he leaves.
- He directs his attention back towards Ceres, the expression on his face hard to read. He seemed to be thinking. Analyzing-- putting the pieces of an unknown puzzle together.
- Then he smiled. As if he had it all figured out.
- "No objections."
