  1. <aberrantArtificer> You continue around the corner, and you see the hallway continue to slope downwards. At the end of the hallway, in the distance, you see a bright light and the electronic humming is louder now that you are around the corner.
  2. <aberrantArtificer> As you continue around the corner, the typing noises abruptly stop and you hear a couple loud metallic CLANGS followed by rapid light footsteps
  3. <Amelia_Marshall> You pull out your dagger, and make the walk down the hallway.
  4. <aberrantArtificer> The hallway slopes down, and the ceiling gradually rises, opening up into a room at the end of the hallway.
  5. <aberrantArtificer> The footsteps fade into the distance and all is relatively silent, save for the electronic humming.
  6. <Amelia_Marshall> You walk into the room.
  7. <Amelia_Marshall> "Claudia? Are you in here?"
  8. <aberrantArtificer> Your words echo around the chamber with no immediate response.
  9. <aberrantArtificer> The room seems to be about 10 feet tall, unusually tall for a normal room in your apartment, and about 15 feet square. It is chock full of a great deal of electronic equipment and a large number of monitors mounted up high.
  10. <Amelia_Marshall> You look around at the monitors and investigate what they do.
  11. <aberrantArtificer> There are several machines at ground level that are each surrounded by a set of heavy metal bars accompanied by a red light, preventing you from accessing them.
  12. <aberrantArtificer> Looking around at the monitors, approximately half of the monitors seem to be off. Or at least black.
  13. <aberrantArtificer> The other half of the monitors show various landscapes and scenes. One of them shows the exterior of your apartment, another shows the dining room of your apartment, another several show a great expanse of desert, another couple some obelisks, and another an oasis.
  14. <Amelia_Marshall> "What the..."
  15. <Amelia_Marshall> You attempt to turn on the other monitors.
  16. <aberrantArtificer> What do you do to try and turn them on?
  17. <Amelia_Marshall> Press the power button
  18. <Amelia_Marshall> wherever that is
  19. <aberrantArtificer> You do not see one immediately obvious
  20. <aberrantArtificer> Make a perception check
  21. <Amelia_Marshall> !roll 1d20+2
  22. <NOTTyche[Dice]> (1d20+2) [9+2] : {11}
  23. <aberrantArtificer> You don't see power buttons on any of the monitors
  24. <Amelia_Marshall> You investigate the wiring to see if any of them are unplugged.
  25. <aberrantArtificer> Make an investigation check!
  26. <Amelia_Marshall> !roll 1d20+3
  27. <NOTTyche[Dice]> (1d20+3) [20+3] : {23}
  28. <aberrantArtificer> Everything seems to be surprisingly organized despite how crammed everything is in this room. All the cords are neatly run through cord holders and channels and everything seems pretty well in order.
  29. <Amelia_Marshall> "Hmmm..."
  30. <Amelia_Marshall> You look around for any more doors.
  31. <aberrantArtificer> There is one opening on the opposite side of the room
  32. <Amelia_Marshall> You walk towards it.
  33. <aberrantArtificer> You need to wind your way around the room to get there because there doesn't seem to be a straight path there. It is really quite cramped in here. You make your way past what looks like a joystick next to some buttons, a strange circular platform on the center of an enormous piece of machinery with a bunch of high tech looking things pointed at it ((OOG it looks like an appearifier))
  34. <aberrantArtificer> with the control panel covered by one of the sets of bars, another very similar looking piece of equipment with another circular pattern with complex geometric shapes carved into it with similar pointy techy things pointed at it and control panel covered by bars, a large screen covered in colored dots all laveled by numbers, what looks like a large cage,
  35. <aberrantArtificer> A large circular platform directly on the ground covered in all sorts of complicated patterns with a red light next to it, and a large computer with keyboard and monitor sitting at a desk. The monitor currently shows a black screen with one thing on it:
  36. <aberrantArtificer> >_
  37. <aberrantArtificer> the underscore is blinking and the computer seems to be on.
  38. <Amelia_Marshall> You sit at the desk, and type... Hello?
  39. <aberrantArtificer> The computer prints a new line below yours, and below that another >_ awaiting your input
  40. <aberrantArtificer> 'Hello?' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file. Type 'help

  127. <aberrantArtificer> To: AMCMJMTM
  128. <aberrantArtificer> From: Overseer
  129. <aberrantArtificer> Message body:
  130. <aberrantArtificer> Greetings, Amelia. I am pleased to hear that you have found this network at last. It is truly an exhibit of your insatiable curiousity and drive to learn that you have made it here so early after your arrival.
  131. <aberrantArtificer> Many of my contingencies were expecting you to arrive at your first terminal much later than you have, but again you have defied expectations.
  132. <aberrantArtificer> These tools belong to me, and though I will not prevent you from attempting to operate them, I cannot condone your usage of them. They are private coprorate property and theft and vandalism would be most frowned upon.
  133. <aberrantArtificer> However, who knows what you might learn or uncover by using them? Perhaps it is not in your best interest to heed my words?
  134. <aberrantArtificer> Perhaps you will fall prey to my deceptive words and you will walk away from these machines. Perhaps you will ignore the words of your guide and instead put the machines in motion.
  135. <aberrantArtificer> That is up to you to decide, but what has been set in stone is that you are here. While I wished you would not have encountered this station so early and disrupted a series of critical events, it was inevitable that you would do so.
  136. <Amelia_Marshall> "What the fuck..."
  137. <aberrantArtificer> I am sure you have many questions, and it is up to you to seek answers to them.
  138. <aberrantArtificer> At last, you have arrived. Welcome to the Underdark, Amelia.
  139. <aberrantArtificer> Sincerely, The Overseer.
  140. <aberrantArtificer> P.S. As a sidenote, quaint choice of username, Amelia choosing to use your family members. I believe you will soon find you wish you did not have further reminders of your family. Best of Luck.
  141. <aberrantArtificer> --END OF MESSAGE--
  142. <Amelia_Marshall> "What..."
  143. <Amelia_Marshall> 'Logout'
  144. <aberrantArtificer> "Logout successful."
  145. <Amelia_Marshall> You get up, and walk towards the door you were going to enter.
  146. <aberrantArtificer> You abandon the machinery, making your way towards the hallway on the opposite side of the room.
  147. <aberrantArtificer> It continues for approximately 10 feet before turning left.
