Reentered the dungeon today, and to our surprise it was almost as if we never left. The statues were reformed, and the guardian didn’t seem to realize we were the same people as before. This time however, we were able to speak to it and stop it from just summoning support and zipping off to who knows where. We learned that this place is a Font of Power, and that it was home to the Chosen of Acanthus.
We were able to convince the Guardian to lead us to the chosen as well, though we had to fight through some other planar creatures that sucked the magic out of everything to do so. It seems that this Font has pools of energy that somehow form magical items from their depths. It must be where the town was raiding items from, and from the creatures we fought, I can understand why they would have had trouble looting from here.
While I was quite tempted to take every item I could, the guardian advised against it, as it would anger the creatures even further that we attracted to the energy pools. For now, we would hold off. I really –really- wanted that staff too. I hope it’s still there when we get back.
