  18. The realms had been sundered. The gods, dethroned. Magic was acting very much unlike how it ever had - clerics found their powers worked by praying to the very world, while both wizards and sorcerers found that the old Vancian magic systems were obsolete and instead there were wholly new paradigms to immerse themselves in. Paladins, well. They were only ever fancier fighters with their own sort of magic; they fit in well with the changes.
  19.
  20. What reward can one expect for such actions? For freeing the races of Toril from the predations of would-be deities and letting them choose their own destinies rather than being forced to follow the whims of those with more power than they?
  21.
  22. Why, a forced shifting into a human, followed by an Overgod-sponsored trip to the Abyss, in the hopes that the massive population of fiends down there will stop the god-president from escaping and manage to stop him!
  23.
  24. One R I P A N D T E A R later, however, and Ao was introduced to why this was in fact a terrible idea; that one man donned power armor, then proceeded to multiply himself at a geometric rate. One became two became four became eight became sixteen and so on. In a matter of hours, one very angry man multiplied by a metric fucktillion busied himselves with slaughtering the hostile natives of the Abyss, until Ao grabbed them all and threw them further out, into the space between worlds.
  25.
  26. Did you know that Phlogiston is horrendously flammable? The fucktillion did not, until that moment. But shifting back to the form of a force dragon permitted them to travel through the space between the crystal spheres, searching out a way back to the realmspace where Toril existed, still in a state of flux. The transition between the phlogiston and proper space was... turbulent, but navigable.
  27.
  28. On his return, he found his prior actions had led to a large number of ancient dangers awakening, some of whom were able to use magic in the old forms that they had, while others were rapidly adjusting to new magics and using them instead. Unfortunately, the god-president was not only still a dragon, but still multiplied by a fucktillion, and they proceeded to do what they must: rip and tear, until it is done.
  29.
  30. They tore their way back into the Abyss afterward. After all, they weren't done yet.
  31.
  32. tl;dr -
  33. Ao: STOP STEALING MY STUFF AND CHANGING THE RULES. GO AWAY.
  34. Crux: No. You're being a jerk, so I'm taking the Abyss.
  35. Ao: What.
  36. Crux: I licked it and now it's mine.
  37. Ao: ... gross.
  38. Crux: Yeah I kind of wish I hadn't.
