Baldr Sky impression

A wild ride from the beginning to the end, the story of Baldr Sky never once bore me. The plot is truly well-written; probably the best I've ever read for this medium. It employ a great premise to begin and carefully develop it into amazing story while stay constant and supported with good pacing. It has many plothole in the early routes, however it will be unlocked as you advance the story. The plot incorporate its concept and worldbuilding excellently to create an amazing Sci-fi story. All of those things will always make you hyped until the end. As you advanced into the story, the hype is getting intense and intense until you reach the final route where everything will melt into one final euphoria and unforgettable memories.
The Writing in Baldr isn't really special, but it does have a charm that make it so good. It does have a lot of sci-fi terms and concept that need a lot of explanation, however Hiei successfully make all of those stuff simple with a robust explanation. It greatly enhance the experiences of the already superior worldbuilding of Baldr Sky without throwing that potential away. The emotion of the characters and the atmosphere were also conveyed very well.

Unlike most VNs, Baldr incorporate gameplay element that blend very well with the story. The transition between the story and gameplay is really good that it's justified in the story when you switch to gameplay section. The gameplay doesn't feel like a secondary or merely additional element, it's part of the story. To not make it feel like it were a mere addition, It have a progression system so you can survive the enemy and there's a boss fight in this VN, so you have no choice but to strengthen yourself in order to advance the story. The progression system include things such as combo, equipment (weapon), and plug-in (equipment and various bonus); you can even practice to build your own combo. There's also a survival mode to challenge yourself and get a reward from it. That being said, for a VN, the replay value of Baldr is really high.

All characters in Baldr Sky are fascinating. They always have a role in the story, and no characters are forgotten, even the villain that you feel like a casual villain will play a huge role. All characters recieved excellent character development, that you can love a character you once hate and miss a character if they didn't present in the part of the story. Each character is unique to their own and come from diferent background and the change and development they make along the story is what make them truly memorable.

The Art is good. The visual is amazing, however I didn't really into Seiji Kikuchi's character design, but it's still good enough for me. Music was superb. It has some KnS vibes on it because apparently the music studio is the same one as the studio that make music for Innogrey, it's particulary shown in the Dive2 main menu theme.

Overall, I definitely regret myself for stalling such an amazing VN back then, but it's repaid now. I had such a great enjoyment with this VN. This is one of the few VN that makes me so satisfied, it's totally worth my time. Truly a great and unforgettable experiences, truly a masterpiece. Officially one of my top best VN. I totally recommended this for everyone.
