  1. WELCOME TO THE SRC COLLAB INFINITE
  2.
  3. Q: What the Devil Gundam is this?
  4.
  5. A Collaborative project to create an SRW fangame in the SRC engine. Yes, you too can learn the ropes of the SRC (Simulation RPG Construction) engine to make a stage or two (favourite series included). You can drop in at any time and submit as much content as you want and I will provide assistance with any technical support or questions.
  6. ---
  7. "You lost me"
  8.
  9. Step 0: Do you know what SRC is?
  10.
  11. Yes - proceed to Next Step
  12. No - Read the SRC Pastebin ( https://pastebin.com/NRPtThEZ )
  13.
  14. What will be expected of you taking part?
  15. You are expected to produce at 1 stage (or more) for the collab - thus in the process, you will produce the following
  16.
  17. 1) Unit and Pilot Data for the series you are entering in SRC compatible format (Templates will be provided)
  18.
  19. 2) A "map" file created through the engine's Map Editor tool (or just use a pre-made map)
  20.
  21. 3) An "event" script which will be read in the program to form the actual stage (Templates will be provided)
  22.
  23. You do NOT need any special knowledge outside of the ability to operate a Text Editor - the Event Script format is mostly in plain English and will be taught to you and the Japanese have free Graphical Resources you can use for this.
  24.
  25. As this is intended to be a training process for aspiring fangame creators, I will provide technical assistance and no one will be judged on the quality of their work (so long as it doesn't crash the program out right).
  26. ---
  27. Q: How do I take part?
  28. Visit the /srwg/ Discord and drop in the #SRC / Fangames subchannel to say hello. Introduce yourself maybe
  29. Download the Sample files and get started. Begin by playing the sample stage, then read the Readme file inside the Tools folder

  33. Since each contributor will generally work individually with no real input on others, there's no need to create a sequential plot that makes any amount of sense, it's up to you to decide what you want to write. The stage can have no text except for enemies to bash or you can have Tenzen yelling about how the old Winkysoft games are better than modern SRW, whatever.
  34.
  35. You might want to state which series you wish to use - there aren't any "dibs" system so multiple people can use the same series, but if you are, you might want to coordinate just a slight bit so you can reuse data.
  36.
  37. Rules:
  38. 1) You can introduce units from any mix of series you wish
  39. But try to keep workload in mind - 3 player units is generally a good number,
  40. but 1 works just fine if you're pressed for time.
  41.
  42. 2) Due to the format of this collab, the concept of levels will not exist - every unit is capped to level 1 (though they can still be upgraded with money). In addition, Spirit Commands will be limited to 3 per pilot and skills that usually increase by leveling up such as Newtype should be set to a single level instead. This is to help keep things more simple.
  43.
  44. 3) There's no limitation to what series you can use as long as there's sprites for it - by all means, have Cutie Honey and Devilman being friends for no reason while fighting Dragon Quest slimes.
  45.
  46. 4) I suggest keeping your levels plot light to save yourself work, unless you want the unintentional comedy of being overly serious when no one else is.
