  1. The Gormans’ Plot
  2.
  3. The young Gorman brother lay on the giant boulder that now blocked Romani Ranch from Milk Road. He kept his head low, but could see the ranch owner, Cremia, standing by the pasture with her hands on her head, exasperated. Skipping from around the side of the accompanying house was the little sister, Romani, identical with her burning orange hair but half the size. Her small shape stopped and she appeared to look on in shock. Gorman smiled and slipped off of the rock to run back to the horse track.
  4.
  5. The older Gorman was pitchforking hay when his brother ran up.
  6.
  7. “Those bombs did the trick, brother! The road is completely blocked!”
  8.
  9. The older Gorman pitched his fork into the ground.
  10.
  11. “That oughta stall them for the next couple of days. Now on to phase two!”
  12.
  13. “What is that again? You still haven’t told me.”
  14.
  15. “Come inside.”
  16.
  17. The older Gorman turned and entered their home, and his younger brother followed. Inside, the house was dark, despite the daylight. The sun peeked in through the closed slats and dust hung in the air. Elder Gorman lit a lamp and hung it over their kitchen table. His brother watched as he reached up in a cabinet and took out a dusty scroll, which he rolled out before them.
  18.
  19. “You might not be smart enough to understand astrology, but I’ve been studying up. And this is how we are going to steal milk from the Romanis from now on.”
  20.
  21. “You just got that from the professor,” Junior Gorman said. “You can’t fool me. I’ve been over to his place lots of times.”
  22.
  23. Elder Gorman chuffed and ignored his brother.
  24.
  25. “But how is our trump card up in the sky?” Junior asked.
  26.
  27. “You’ll see. I’ll have to show you tonight."
  28.
  29. *****
  30.
  31. As the evil moon looked over Termina in twilight, the Gorman brothers stood overlooking their racetrack, where the sky--the unobscured part of it, anyway--twinkled with stars.
  32.
  33. Elder Gorman was busy drawing a configuration into the dirt, while Junior watched.
  34.
  35. “What exactly is it we’re doing again, brother?”
  36.
  37. “We’re going to summon something, old pal.”
  38.
  39. “Say again?”
  40.
  41. “You see that moon up there? Well it’s not the only thing living in the sky. And there’s people smart enough to call on the other beings up there to do their bidding. That’s us, brother. Now hand me that cucco.”
  42.
  43. Junior Gorman did as his brother told him, and from under his arm handed him the sleepy cucco, who clicked and clucked as he was being handled. Then Elder Gorman produced a knife and slit its throat.
  44.
  45. “Good God, what are you doing, brother?”
  46.
  47. “Just watch.”
  48.
  49. Elder Gorman held the dead cucco’s throat over the configuration, filling the rivets in the dirt with blood. When he was done, he tossed the carcass aside and stood.
  50.
  51. “Take my hand, brother.”
  52.
  53. “You got blood on it.”
  54.
  55. “Take it.”
  56.
  57. Junior relented, and held his brother’s hand.
  58.
  59. “Now look at the sky, brother, and think welcoming thoughts.”
  60.
  61. Not many thoughts usually went through Junior’s head, except for a few particular things, but he tried to focus on what “welcoming” might feel like. Eventually he became bored and asked his brother:
  62.
  63. “What are we doing, brother?”
  64.
  65. “Summoning visitors.”
  66.
  67. “Okay.”
  68.
  69. “Look. There they are now.”
  70.
  71. True to his word, a few of the stars began to move. Slowly they traced the sky and began to get bigger.
  72.
  73. “Uh, brother...”
  74.
  75. “I’m projecting my thoughts right now up to those visitors. You’ll see what I’m thinking in a minute.”
  76.
  77. In the sky, the growing dots broke into faster motion and streaked over the horizon. Towards Romani Ranch.
  78.
  79.
  80. *****
  81.
  82. Junior Gorman sat away from the bloody configuration and kicked the dirt while Elder Gorman patiently watched the sky.
  83.
  84. “Here they come," Elder Gorman said.
  85.
  86. Junior stood up and immediately noticed a dull humming, as if coming from below, where the ground vibrated under his boots. But above them there were glowing orbs floating over the hills. As they got closer, he saw something he couldn’t believe: shapes within the orbs, like creatures; the distinct features of a face, albeit an alien face. There were at least four of them. A fifth glowing orb contained not an alien, but a cow. They hovered over the horse track and then slowly touched the ground.
  87.
  88. “I’ll be damned,” Junior exclaimed as his brother grinned and folded his arms. The strange “visitors” stared at them coldly, while the cow looked around and mooed in confusion.
  89.
  90. “That, my brother, is how you steal a cow,” Elder Gorman said.
  91.
  92. *****
  93.
  94. Their scheme worked for days. On the subsequent nights, the visitors delivered their prize. According to Elder Gorman’s plan, they would have every single Romani cow in two more days. They kept them hidden in the stables, and kept visitors from staying for too long, should they hear a betraying moo.
  95.
  96. But he became dissatisfied with merely stealing cows. While Junior seemed elated, Elder Gorman mused about what else he could have the visitors accomplish. And when he expressed an idea to Junior, his eyes lit up.
  97.
  98. “Anything?” Junior asked.
  99.
  100. “Yes, anything, brother. We practically have gods granting us our wishes. Why not take advantage of it? Plus, I want to really give it to that blasted ranch girl.”
  101.
  102. “The girl! The girl! Brother!”
  103.
  104. “All we have to do is wish it.”
  105.
  106. “Then it is wished!”
  107.
  108. “Direct it to the skies, brother.”
  109.
  110. “Right!”
  111.
  112. And with that, Junior looked towards the darkening evening sky, hoping to see the tell-tale movements of the visitors. Elder Gorman stood beside him as well, and soon they saw the streaking orbs of their benefactors racing towards Romani Ranch.
  113.
  114. *****
  115.
  116. It was not long before the sets of orbs came over the hillside, and Junior shot to his feet. Elder Gorman slowly came to meet him at the horse track’s edge, where the visitors lowered down their orb transporting their captive. The glowing energy faded, and there revealed was young Romani, shaken and dazed.
  117.
  118. “What is this?” Elder Gorman spat, but Junior was hopping on his feet with joy.
  119.
  120. The visitors rose into the air, leaving Romani for them. Junior rushed up to her and took her hand, leading her off the track. She looked about, and seemed half-asleep. Her red hair fell over her face, and she did not bother to move it. When Junior brought her under the eaves of the ranch house, he knelt and brushed her hair aside, marveling at her.
  121.
  122. “Brother,” Elder Gorman said. “I was talking about the older sister, the ranch owner! How did this happen?”
  123.
  124. “I’d say we’re lucky,” Junior said. “She seems pretty out of it. We can do with her what we like. Isn’t that so?”
  125.
  126. Elder Gorman folded his arms in displeasure as he watched his brother fawn over the little girl.
  127.
  128. “You really are a genius, brother,” Junior said. “I have to give it to you. You called on the gods and granted us heaven!”
  129.
  130. As he said this, he took Romani’s hands and swung them back and forth playfully. But her empty face did not register. Letting her arms go slack, Junior partook in touching the fabric of her blouse, and then he slowly lifted it. Her arms raised to allow him to strip the garment off, and it went past her hair, which splayed out everywhere and then fell on her naked shoulders and chest. Junior fought a squeal of delight, and took the girl in his arms. All the while, his brother watched him with furrowed brow. He watched as Junior pressed his face into the girl’s bare skin, and then pulling back, took down her skirt. He had to goad her to step out of her garment, and looked up in marvel at her completely nude, tawny figure, bronze in the twilight, and the smooth delta between her legs, which he glided his hand over. With his other hand, he felt the bumps of her butt, and then turned her around to admire it and how it could fit in only one of his sprawling rancher's hands.. His body shook the whole time with pent-up yearning.
  131.
  132. *****
  133.
  134. Junior kept Romani in his bed that night, cuddling up to her bare body, fondling it, all the while pleasuring himself. When he couldn’t take that any longer, he pressed his member against her soft skin, the feel of velvet on his dick. Her stomach, her soft thighs, and finally he threw off the covers and straddled the girl, who looked vacantly past him at the ceiling.
  135.
  136. He savored the cushy press of her lips on his dick, and the give of her cheeks as he poked them. He brushed his head over her lips, in all intents and purposes accosting her face with his cock, and then he couldn’t take it any longer, and began masturbating over the girl. In short time, he came a spurt of semen diagonally across her face, and at the same time shouting, “WAHHHH!”
  137.
  138. “Alright brother, get some sleep,” came Elder Gorman’s voice from the next bed.
  139.
  140. *****
  141.
  142. It was never clear whether the Gormans intended to keep Romani with them or let her go. The second option seemed unlikely, though she did appear oblivious to what was going on. The next morning she sat on their kitchen table, still naked, as they ate breakfast, and Junior Gorman would take small moments to fawn over her in between mouthfuls of eggs. All the while, his older brother stewed.
  143.
  144. They went about the day's work afterwards, pitchforking hay and feeding the horses, until midday, when Junior announced that he was ready for a break, and rushed inside so that he could be with his prize again. Elder Gorman sighed and remained indignantly outside.
  145.
  146. Minutes later Junior exited, and so did Romani, stark naked and with a little more life in her face.
  147.
  148. "Brother, put her back inside, someone is going to catch us!"
  149.
  150. But Junior had trouble heeding his brother's words, and couldn't help himself but watch the little girl wander, wonder filling her eyes, as if she were seeing the world for the first time. She skipped over to the horse track, and the sun made her skin glow, until Elder Gorman rushed over and scooped the naked girl up in her arms.
  151.
  152. "What's wrong with this girl? It's like she's in her own dream world," he said as he carried her back inside. She sang to herself the whole way.
  153.
  154. When he came out, Junior picked up his pitchfork and resumed work, and no sooner than Elder Gorman shut the door did a little boy enter the ranch. Dressed in green, and scanning his eyes everywhere, he instantly set the older Gorman off.
  155.
  156. "What are ya doing here? What do you want?" the elder said, but the boy apparently didn't speak. He merely stared at the two ranchers, until Elder Gorman brandished his pitchfork and chased him away.
  157.
  158. "See what I mean?" he said to Junior as he returned. "We nearly would have been found out."
  159.
  160. "Maybe he was Romani's little boyfriend," Junior mused.
  161.
  162. "All the more reason we should get rid of her."
  163.
  164. "You don't mean--kill her?"
  165.
  166. "No, idiot, not kill her," Elder Gorman said, thrusting his pitchfork into the haystack. "We're sending her back.
  167.
  168. "No. No, I can't let you do that, brother."
  169.
  170. Elder Gorman dropped his pitchfork and squared up with Junior.
  171.
  172. "You gonna tell your big bro what he can and can't do?"
  173.
  174. "She's the light of my life."
  175.
  176. "She's a zombie! How long do you plan on keeping her holed up in our house? You know she won't eat."
  177.
  178. "I don't care, I want her. For just a little longer."
  179.
  180. Elder Gorman began rolling up his sleeves.
  181.
  182. "Brother, you're going to make me regret this."
  183.
  184. "Come on, take it easy. Let me keep her one more day, and we can have the gods bring you Cremia. That's what you wanted, right? Why--ow!"
  185.
  186. Elder Gorman socked his brother square in the jaw, and he went down in the dirt, but scrambled up quick and tackled him. The Gormans rolled on the ground, trading clumsy blows, until Elder Gorman found himself on top, and hammered Junior's face with a set of hooks that finally took the fight out of him.
  187.
  188. Without saying anything, he stood, dusted off his overalls, and marched over to the house, while his brother crawled in the dirt and regained his senses. The door slammed, and Junior pulled himself into a sitting position. His head swayed, and though he tried all he could to get to his feet, he could only sit there.
  189.
  190. "Oh Romani..."
  191.
  192. There came a sharp scream from the house, which was motivation enough for Junior to launch himself to his feet, but he stumbled, still weary from his brother's punches, and fell face-first into the dirt.
  193.
  194. He shook himself awake at the sound of the front door slamming. Elder Gorman walked away from the house, bucking his belt. Junior pulled himself off the ground.
  195.
  196. "What did you do?" Junior asked. His brother said nothing, and went back to the haystack, taking up his pitchfork and thrusting into the pile angrily.
  197.
  198. Junior rushed to the house. Inside, he found Romani sprawled on the floor, staring at the ceiling, her legs parted, laying crookedly, and her cunt bleeding. He fell beside her, tears welling in his eyes, and took her up into his arms. His mustache wetted as it pressed against her neck, and he did not see her face suddenly go lucid, take in where she was, and then zone out again.
  199.
  200. *****
  201.
  202. That night they watched as the visitors prepared to return Romani back home. Her clothes were haphazardly put back on, and her tangled hair hung in front of her face. She looked like death.
  203.
  204. Then, the shimmering orb enclosed her and she lifted up into the air with her alien escorts. The Gormans watched as the five orbs became distant and then disappeared over the hillside, where Cremia was no doubt waiting, stricken. Then all was quiet.
  205.
  206. Junior spoke first.
  207.
  208. “Do you think we're going to hell, brother?”
  209.
  210. Elder Gorman’s mustache twitched.
