background ; chae haena was born in gwangju, south korea on september 15th, 1996 to her single mother. months before haena was born, her father left, so her mother: chae haesa had to step up and raise her. things were okay for haena and her mother. she grew a close relationship with her and always checked up on her, because haena knew how hard it was for her mother to be a single mom. growing up, haena had a passion to become an idol because she loved watching Korean groups on tv on her free time, so during middle and high school, she took dance classes and ended up getting a scholarship her junior year of high school. her mother was in tears, when haena got the scholarship to a dance school in seoul. then, haena decided to audition for starship, so she can practice more towards her future of becoming an idol
