Grettir - Holds ship

A little later, the three set out in a ten-oared boat. The weather was cold and the wind was blowing from the north.

They reached the islands and got hold of the ox.

Grettir asked them which they would prefer: to put the ox on-board or to hold the ship, since there was a strong surf against the island. They asked him to hold the ship. He placed himself alongside the ship, on the side which faced the sea. The water reached up to his shoulders, but he held the boat perfectly steady. Thorgeir lifted the rear of the ox and Thormod its head, and in this way they got it onto the ship.
