PERSONALITY|
-Lee Kangyu is the "mom-friend" in every sense of the word and though it wasn't his intention to become it, he absolutely adores the title. Kangyu has always been the worrying type. He worries constantly about almost anything but the main thing he tends to worry about is the well-being of others. With this being said, a way that Kangyu eases that main worry is of course by making sure others are all good at all times and when they're not, he'll do whatever he can to fix that. He's always been the first to ask someone "what's wrong?" when they display even the slightest hint of upset and he's constantly taking extra-long during things like what should have been a quick run to the mail box because he's found someone with one too many bags and he just had to help them carry it the six steps from their car to their doorstep. He cares about others to the point where it's become a problem for his own health. Kangyu gets extremely stressed out when he just can't figure out how to help someone with a problem of theirs and he feels absolutely horrible about it because he really truly does just want to help.

-A big problem with Kangyu is his inability to handle bad smells. It's almost a fear of his, in all honesty. If he's helping a stranger on the street but they've got some type of bad body odor, his need to help others will stop him from moving away from the person but he'll be damned if he doesn't hold his breath for as long as he possibly can. If, however, he's simply talking to someone and they've got a mighty case of bad breath then he'll excuse himself as quickly as possible (unless it's someone important then he'll just use his mighty breath holding skills). The same applies for any other types of odors he finds unpleasant. He either leaves quickly or holds his breath til he's three seconds from passing out. Kangyu has got a real thing for hygiene in general though. He takes at least two showers a day, brushes his teeth after eating anything, and washes his hands too many times to even count. He always has hand sanitizer on his person just in case he touches something thats disgusting (by his standards so it could simply be a tiny dust bunny) and he literally uses it all the time so the bottle is replaced almost daily. He sometimes gets called a clean freak and he was even tested for OCD once but the results came back negative. He just really loves being clean and really hates uncleanliness. Simple.

-Kangyu is really good at balancing between being serious and being fun. He's never been the silly type so you won't see him doing things just for laughs but he definitely appreciates well thought out jokes and watching others silly antics. Being serious though is probably one of his fortes. He's really great at thinking through important issues especially when it comes to his career and he's generally really great at paying attention. He catches small details easily and when working on something he's got great focus and almost always ends up with an outstanding final product. Kangyu is and always has been determined to succeed. He works hard and that shows in everything he does.

-Criticism is something that Kangyu is not very good at taking. He appreciates it of course; he loves knowing what he did wrong so he can fix it. But criticism just tends to make Kangyu cry. He wont make a show out of it but the silent tears streaming down his face is more than noticeable. The criticism itself isnt even what really upsets him its more so the disappointment that he didnt execute the task or performance perfectly. Kangyu is a perfectionist to the top degree and he's yet to understand that being 100% perfect is virtually impossible.

BACKGROUND|
 -Lee Kangyu was born in Busan, South Korea to a set of parents who were just really not fit to take care of him. Having already had the two kids they wanted a great many years prior, they weren't at all happy about the new addition. With the two kids they wanted already grown up, they were free to do what they wanted but now they were restricted by a child (that they didn't really want to begin with) and they absolutely hated it. The pair sadly started taking out their frustrations on the small child. They didn't hit him (often) but they were just generally really nasty towards him, spent the minimum amount possible on him and ignored him whenever they didn't feel like being bothered. Binhyuk and Chaenee usually hid their malicious actions when their two elder children came home during their breaks from university but when Sooyoung came home on a surprise visit and found that a four year old Kangyu had been left home alone and was sobbing his little heart out she was absolutely livid. All it took was a mere few months of court visits (which were well in Sooyoung's favour as she'd been studying law for the past three years and knew exactly how to obtain shared custody of Kangyu between her and her twin brother) and Kangyu was moving into his twin siblings off-campus apartment.

 From then on, life for Kangyu was pretty sweet. Sooyoung and Jinyoung treated him amazingly well and took care of him with no problem as they both had paid internships in their respective fields of study (law and bioengineering) along with the child support their parents provided. Once the twins finished up their studies and had separated into different households, a now 8 year old Kangyu found himself living with just his sister (though he still saw his brother daily since he was Kangyu's school transportation system). Despite now having a solid job as a lawyer at a well-established firm, Sooyoung still did her very best to care for Kangyu and he definitely appreciated it. During his elementary school years, he developed a love for the performing arts through the schools extensive music and theatre program. He participated in every single showcase the school hosted and he even got his sister to enroll him in vocal music and dance classes as extracurricular activities. With his love of music and his talents that he was working hard to improve just about every day, his obvious career choice was being and idol and he was determined to succeed.

 At the age of eleven, after rapid improvement in the vocal and dancing field due to a lot of hard work, Kangyu was scouted by Jellyfish entertainment at a large talent show that his after-school performing arts center hosted. He and Sooyoung were approached by a representative after Kangyu won third place and after a quick discussion that involved a lot of "please, please, pretty please? I'll still do well even in school!", Sooyoung relented and a few days later, Kangyu was off and auditioning for the company. He received his acceptance letter a few weeks later and Kangyu, his twin siblings, and even his parents (whom they decided should be inofrmed on this situation) were completely ecstatic.

 The next ten years of his life were completely busy. Kangyu rarely had any downtime between his training, schooling and practice sessions he held by himself. He was really just extremely determined to succeed as becoming an idol was what he wanted every since the first grade. He knew that the key to being a successful idol was being well-rounded so along with his vocal and dance training, around the age of 16 he picked up rap as well. He's not all that into rapping so he didn't do too much rap work but he made sure he had a decent set of skills when it came down to it. Kangyu participated in the survival show MyDOL when he was seventeen and despite his best efforts, he was the third one eliminated and was not able to debut with Vixx. This put quite the damper on his spirits and he slacked off a bit but after a month of that he put an end to that and being working harder than ever. In 2017, he auditioned for the survival show Hustle, made it in and vowed to himself that he'd work his very hardest to either win, or at least build a great name for himself.

- Having trained for nearly half his life, Kangyu is really really confident in his abilities and it shows. He doesn't focus too hard since he just knows that he can do well and he of course, does do well. He's not cocky about it but you may or may not catch him wearing a small smirk every now and then.

HOW DO THEY VIEW THEIR COMPETITION? |
-Kangyu has really mixed feelings about his opponents. Being the type of person he is, he adores seeing others do well. There's a great many of the others who he thinks deserves the top spot due to their hard work, or talents and such but since he's a part of the competition as well he still wants to make sure he does better than them. Generally, he tends the cheer the others on and helps them prepare whenever he can but he still hopes for them to rank lower than he does.
