- Turning off SFX in Crash 3 skips some cutscenes when entering/exiting levels. In any% (no major skips) this saves about a minute overall. The downside is having the game without sound effects makes it less entertaining. There is a lot of debate over whether or not to turn off SFX in the TAS. Usually I am against apeed/entertainment tradeoffs but I want to hear the opinions of others for what to do in the TAS.
- Reasons to turn off SFX:
- - Saves about a minute
- - You can hear the music a lot better
- - Less waiting in between levels
- - Closer to non-tool-assisted speedruns
- Reasons to keep SFX on:
- - Slower, but you can actually hear the SFX. Some would consider this more entertaining.
- - Since no major skips already contains arbitrary restrictions for entertainment this is less of a stretch
- - SFX does not affect the route at all so I can calculate the exact time the TAS would be with it off even if I had SFX on.
- Anybody with more reasons for either side please feel free to comment.
