Reasoning: As time wore on, things quickly accelerate to the next natural disaster that afflicts Mori's livelihood. This next traumatic portion of his life takes place after he's grown in years, and the city is under siege by Arcanic Beasts. They arrive in order to end the lives of his teachers, though he is late in his arrival as that conflict is resolved.

 With the Arcane Beasts defeated by his comrades, Mori stumbles upon the likeness of a young girl attempting to kidnap Galial. He was the first to pick up on the uneasy vibes from the lass, and it becomes apparent that things are dire when she mortally wounds Edgar before the group, firing a series of lasers into his very being. With his friend left bleeding out, and his life on the line, Mori teams up with Anise to take on the demonic entity. The battle is harrowing, and the duo make a show of their amazing teamwork as they manage to push the Demon back to a degree....But the gap in their power, and the regenerative abilities the demonic girl possess prove to be too much.  Anise is possessed by his fighter spirit, leaving him to be defeated in the midst of battle as Mori collapses in a bloodied heap in the hospital. Failing to save Edgar, and even avenge him, he's left in critical condition as he's immediately strapped up to a medical tank to sustain his life. The burden of failing his beloved friends, accompanied with his life only a few breaths away from being snuffed out leave him in a fragile state - both physically and mentally. Entering a coma-like state, he remains unresponsive for the time being.
