- Prompt from last thread
- > Satananon slowly opens his eyes, head pounding.
- > He grumbles and reaches off to the side to turn off his beeping phone.
- > After sitting up and rubbing his eyes he freezes.
- > “This… isn’t home.”
- > He looks around the room.
- > It is… rather run down.
- > Torn and peeling wallpaper and drapes, alongside a dirty somewhat damp wooden flooring, and many cobwebs.
- > At least the… mattress he was sleeping on seemed to be new and clean.
- > Satananon notices a large bottle of booze lying on the floor.
- > He picks it up and sees the receipt still tagged to it.
- > Slowly some memories flittered back.
- > The pale white face of Charlie thrusting the booze into his hands.
- > Afterwards Charlie dragged him out of his cozy home and into the other rings...
- > Satananon grimaced, and set the bottle aside.
- > He started to puzzle his way throughout the building. Having to traverse multiple sets of stairs, not seeing a soul along the way.
- > His groggy brain caught the scent of something…
- > Pancakes?
- > Satananon continued to grumble as he picked his way towards the smell, eventually entering into an extremely run down lunchroom wherein some fresh looking tables were hastily put together.
- > On which there was a large feast of various breakfast foods.
- > Bacon, Pancakes, Eggs, sausage, roasted sinner heart…
- > And Charlie, waving him over.
- > Satanon decided figuring out what happened yesterday, and the potential for some food, was worth the hassle of dealing with the disturbingly excitable demon royal.
- > “HEY! SATANAON! ARE YA READY TO GET STARTED!?!!”
- >...She seemed particularly excited… This couldn’t be good.
- > “On what?”
- > “YOU VOLUNTEERED TO BE THE FIRST GUEST OF THE HAPPY HOTEL REMEMBER?!?!!!”
- > “............What?”
- -
- > Satananon had apparently, while boozed up by Charlie, shrugged and said ‘sure’ to helping her out with the happy hotel… and showed him a signed binding contract saying as much.
- >...Wonderful.
- > At least the food was… passable.
- > But after finishing his plate, Satananon was assaulted by a deluge of energy and bubbly ideas.
- > As Charlie rambled, Satananon looked at the contract to see if he could worm his way out of this.
- > ‘Upon the signing of this contract, the signer agrees to help the happy hotel to the best of their ability during its test run.’
- > Fk.
- > He tuned back into Charlie’s rushed rambles.
- > “We’re going to have so much fun it’ll be wonderful! We’ll be the best of pals and we’ll get you on the path to not causing the end of the world in no time! I have everything prepared! First we have song practice planned in half an hour and then after that!-
- >This isn’t good. At this rate Satananon realized unless he managed to find a creative interpretation of his contract, he would have to deal with Charlie for… however long she wanted...
- > He looked back at the contract, the gears in his mind whirring...
- >It says to the best of my ability… so that doesn’t mean I have to just go along with what Charlie says to do… but I can’t just do nothing...
- > Hmm… for now I should try to deflect the hellish schedule the demon has cooked up… fk it. Talking is probably better.
- > “Charlie.”
- > “Yes!?”
- > “Do you know how to… have someone repent?”
- > “Err…. yes?”
- > “How?”
- > “Well… you make em feel happy about themselves and make em love the world! You inject em full of joy and love by making em do fun things!”
- > Satananon cringed as he felt the contract start to exert a background pressure, pushing him to do something.
- > “Don’t… er. Don’t you need to… tailor it to the specific person?”
- -
- > He eased as he felt the pressure dissipate.
- > His reprieve only lasted a moment though.
- > “THAT'S A WONDERFUL IDEA!!!! HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THAT?!!?! LET’S GET STARTED RIGHT AWAY!”
- > Charlie pulled a pair of reading glasses from her pocket and put them on, before asking Satananon in a ‘professional’ voice.
- > “So. Satananon. When did you first feel sad?”
- > “That’s… not a good question.”
- > “Okay then… what about… er… family? Yes that’s a good place to start, good job Charlie.”
- > Satananon sighed.
- > “Don’t have one. Father’s inaccessible.”
- > “Err…What about the various families you stayed with?”
- > Satananon raised an eyebrow.
- > “Not really family per se. Too… stuffy.”
- > Charlie looked shocked, and asked with a heavy twinge of worry in her voice.
- > “Do… you not know what it’s like to have a family?”
- > Satananon shrugged.
- > “Kinda? I mean I know what it’s supposed to be like.”
- > “How do you know that?”
- > Satananon puzzled over it for a moment, before shrugging.
- > “I simply saw it, some of the families were raising kids alongside me.”
- > Charlie perked up at this, obviously keen on steering the subject into something more cheerful.
- > “Oh! Did you become friends with any of them?”
- > “...No?”
- > “Ah…did you like any of them generally?”
- > “I suppose? Looking back on it…Octavia was rather nice. Just didn’t expect to be with the Goeita’s long so I didn’t bother.
- > Satananon mused over the Owl, honestly the most pleasant of the other kids he had been raised with. As at least she was rather mellow and quiet.
- > As he was reminiscing, Charlie’s eyes widened and her usual bubbly smile took over as a plan was quickly thrown together in her mind.
- > “That’s all for now! Thank you Satananon… I gotta go do something! See ya!”
- > Satananon raised an eyebrow at Charlie, who was sprinting out of the room, before shrugging and starting a search for a coffee machine.
- -
- > Satananon was idly sipping espresso when Charlie burst back into the room.
- > “COME ON! IT’S TIME FOR A TRIP!”
- > Before Satananon had time to respond, Charlie had already grabbed him by the sleeve of his shirt and was pulling him along.
- > “Where are we going?”
- > “We’re going to pay someone a visit!”
- > “...Who?”
- > “It’s a surprise!”
- > Satananon felt a pit of worry form in his gut, but ignored it for now. Wasn’t like he could do anything about it.
- > As the limo was driven towards the mysterious destination, Satananon did his best to stare blankly ahead and not interact with the eternally excited and bubbly Charlie.
- > When he felt Charlie shaking him he assumed they had arrived, and turned to look at where they were.
- >...
- >...
- > “Charlie.”
- > “Yeeeeeees?”
- > “Why are we at the Goeita family castle?”
- > “Because! I… maaaaay haaaave set up a lunch between you and them?”
- > Charlie looked innocently at the half angel recluse, expression showing that she felt no remorse whatsoever, and didn’t even have any clue of what to feel remorse for.
- > Satananon’s expression though, was a mixture of resigned apathy and horror.
- > He wished he could tear up that contract and just go back home, where he didn’t have to deal with cheery royalty.
- > He sighed.
- > “Let’s… go then.”
- > “About that.. I have something very important to attend to! So you will have to go in yourself!”
- > Satananon stared blankly as Charlie backpedaled into the limo and it started to drive off.
- > He didn’t even feel very amused as he heard it stop just out of sight, and spotted Charlie peeking around the corner with a pair of binoculars.
- > He considered just having a staring competition with them, but the contractual pressure started to work its way back into his head. So he took a deep sigh and walked towards the castle.
- -
- > He was let in by a servant, and led to a grand garden, wherein sat Stolas at a simple table.
- > For some reason Satananon felt… tense. Especially at the way Stolas seemed to… glare at him.
- > Satananon sat opposite of Stolas, taking a sip of the tea already poured.
- > “So… Satananon. What’s this I hear about you… ‘liking’ my daughter?”
- > Satananon felt a strong desire to strangle Charlie as the Owl demon stared down at him.
- > “No, Stolas. That would be Charlie creatively interpreting my words.”
- > Stolas kept up his gaze for a moment, before leaning back into his chair and taking a sip from his cup.
- > “Is that so? I assume there’s something you said that sparked that?”
- > “...Charlie asked me about my time here, and I said that I had enjoyed Octavia’s company.”
- > Stolas took another sip.
- > “Is that so… In that case I’m glad to see you again Satananon. Especially since you’re here due to… The princess’s whim rather than… you taking a liking to my daughter despite not having talked to her or me for… what is it… ten years?”
- > “Mhm.”
- > “So, Satananon. How have you been?”
- > “Fine.”
- > The usual mood following Satananon started to settle in...
- > A door leading into the castle creaked open.
- > “Hey dad I was wondering where did you put the… Oh.”
- > “Ah Octavia! You remember Satananon right?”
- > “Uhh… Sure.”
- > Satananon idly waved to Octavia, mildly surprised at how tall she became.
- > The three stood there in silence.
- > A moment passed.
- > Octavia opened her mouth to speak but was cut off by a screech.
- > “STOLAS! DID YOU FK THAT FUCKING IMP AGAIN!?!”
- > Stolas tugged his collar.
- > “Err. I think I have to go. I know, how about you two get to know each other again and catch up? Anyways, bye.”
- > Stolas pointedly run in the opposite direction of the yelling, but his furious wife seemed to catch him nevertheless. Leaving the two alone.
- -
- > The silence settled again.
- > They both simultaneously pulled out their phones and plugged headphones into them.
- > As they both listened to their music and tapped away at their respective favored distractors, Satananon felt… off.
- > It wasn’t unpleasant, not at all. Just... unusual.
- > Satananon decided to speak.
- > “So… what are you listening to?”
- > “Fk you dad, it’s a band.”
- > “Oh hey, you listen to them too?”
- > “Yeah. It’s… good. I relate to it.”
- > Her point is accented by a particularly loud bout of distant yelling.
- > “Yeah… They really make you feel the lyrics. Have you heard of post-rock? It’s a genre where the music itself speaks to you.”
- > The two begin to converse easily about their music tastes and poor family life.
- > The feeling Satananon had starts to become less strange and more comfortable.
- > They exchange contact information and resolve to get into touch later.
- > Charlie watches on in glee through her binoculars.
- > With how things are going with Satananon, there would be absolutely no issue whatsoever with the happy hotel! She was sure of it!
- > Satananon didn’t warm up to anyone else though. Especially not Charlie who had de facto forced him into a week of slavery.
- > But he had to admit, it was nice to have someone he can talk to and relate in Octavia.

- And then they fked. The end.

- nice
