Thom - End of Brotherhood

[21:27:02] Yorrick had walked around for a while asking where Thom was, eventually a kindly npc told him that he saw Thom enter a house with someone, and was kind enough to point out the direction out.

The kindly old man however wouldn't be looking so happy once he saw one of the great Champion ranking members of the eternal flame walk over and damn near boot the door open... only to wince in pain as he wasn't the strongest, so he'd just open it, or pick the lock and swing it open in dramatic fashion

He'd storm in and look around until he saw Thom standing on the stairs, yet he didn't seem very happy to see his friend, in fact he looked kinda... pissed off? Not hostile, just very annoyed, angry, and hurt. He'd start to chuckle.

"Oh man." He'd say, "Have I got a story for you." He'd continue to chuckle as he walked to the table and pulled out a chair for Thom and then sat down in another one next to it. "So like, I was talking to Marina right? And well, I was like, "Hey, maybe I should try asking this person out again, cause y'know, we're really good friends and whatnot." Heh, yeah, bad idea."

He'd would take a deep breath, his nostrils flaring as he did so before he would look with a forced smile to his best friend since childhood. "Would you like to take a guess what happened next? A shot in the dark? Hmmm?" He'd then sigh, "Also not to ruin the moment, relax I'm pissed but this isn't about to turn into some fight as far as I'm concerned. A physical one anyway." And then he'd return to his same dramatic and pissed off yet forcefully amused tone.

"Anyway yeah, wanna take a guess dude? Buddy of mine, best friend since we were... Pfft what year was the Adventurers formed? I wanna say we were about six and seven? But yeah, any guesses dude?"

[21:33:00] Stomp!

The sound of something hitting and knocking down the front door would very quickly suprise the red haired man. As he walked down the stairs, looking pretty tired he blinked, watching as Yorrick began to come in. A hand would rise in the air, begining to wave but stopping at the expression that was at the drakanite's face. The hurt, angry, annoyed.. It made Thom frown, looking worried.

"A story?" He inquired, watching Yorrick pull out a chair, and heading over to him. A second later the champion would take a seat and listen to Yorrick. Brining up talking to Maria which would cause him to blink a few times. He spoke about asking her out and for a few seconds, Thom had a neutral look on his face, seeming just to think.

"This is probally going to sound stupid and I don't want to aggrovate you or anything but.. I'm guessing she said no?" Thom would comment, perhaps a little sweatdrop seen from his head. "And lets see.. I want to say when I was six actually. You might be right though..

No, what did she say?"

[21:38:08] He'd chuckle and shake his head. "Un-fucking-believable. Well, yes, your right." He'd laugh again, seemingly in a rather unstable state emotionally at the moment. "See, she didn't just say no though. Nah, see she said she was with someone. Not only that she was with someone, but that they were indeed the father of the child she just had."

"Now hmmm. Who could that be Thom? Hm? Any guesses? Any at all?" He'd chuckle once more, pounding his fist on the table as he did so. "Well you see Thom, I always had my theories myself, cause Aciel hasn't been seen around town in a long time, so I didn't really think he came back just to knock her up again."

"And y'know, that kid. Didn't really look like him either, but could never really place the face. Only I don't need to, because today she gave me the name of the guy."

"And y'know, I was fine with it, her being with someone else I mean. But the person she's with, kinda took me by surprise y'know? So. Do you have any guesses now Thom?" He would smile and fold his hands on his lap, awaiting an answer.

[21:44:06] "You ok man? Your laughing is starting to worry me." The red haired man would say in a completely calm manner, a little bit of a frown on his face. Though very quickly Yorrick started talking about more and prompting Thom if he had any guesses. A rapid blinking of the glowing eyes.

Thom would simply listen to their friend's words, remaining silent as he was asked for guesses, and listening to Yorrick's theory. Indeed, the fact that Aciel wouldn't have just dropped by to knock her up again made sense but at the same time. "Didn't Marina go to dragon's peak around nine months ago?" Thom asked, and it didn't seem like something he made up.

"But yeah, I guess the kid doesn't really look like Aciel.. " A shrug of his shoulders, seeming to kind of want to have Yorrick say what he was going to. "I have no guesses. Say what you want to please.."

[21:47:31] The look on his face went from pained anger and forced glee, to simply being shocked.

"I honestly can't tell if your fucking with me or if your just oblivious." He'd shake his head, probably the rudest thing he had ever said to his friend. Likely wouldn't be the last thing said tonight though.

"Well fine, if I need to spell it out for you. See, when you stick your dick in someone, pregnancy is often a result. Unless its.... You get what I fucking mean." He'd shake his head. "Its you. It should be obvious by my behaviour that the person I'm pissed at is you, it is your child, she says she is with you."

"The one time I actually like someone and they're fucking my best friend and had a kid with him, seemingly not to his knowledge apperantly which I don't even fucking understand."

"So." He would say, a tone of authority rising. "Here is what your going to do. Are you listening?" He would ask, anger rising once more in his voice.

[21:52:38] Thom.. Almost looked like he didn't react. The red haired young man would simply continue staring towards Yorrick breathing at a rather calm rate. Not even sparks of eletricty that shrouded him when he was younger seemed to pop up and around him as he remained quiet.

"... I'm sorry you had to find out like this." Still in the same quiet voice, his mind almost unreadable through those golden hues of his. "And.. I was unaware that you liked Marina." He seemed altogether just to be thinking about the situation, or neutral about it all.

"But I am listening. Go on."

[21:57:45] He'd shake his head and light his pipe, "Yeah fuck you too." He'd sit in silence for a moment before going to speak, collecting himself. "You have two options." He would say, his tone relatively calm. "So here they are." He seemed to be holding back a lot of anger.

"Option one: I don't know what your relationship with that Ookami that follows you around all the time, Ancillia, is, but if its romantic in any way. Your going to end it, and your going to go be with Marina because you couldn't keep it in your pants, your not going to cheat, your not gonna fuck around, and your going to take care of your kid. Because he shouldn't have to pay just because his father fucked up." He'd take another breath.

"Or. Tell Marina that you do not intend to be with her. Don't say it like that, make it sound, well, nice. Human. Not cruel. And do whatever your gonna do, fuck around with whoever you want, I don't care. But, your still going to be there for the kid. Because that is your responsibility now."

"She is my friend. I want her to be happy. I want her to not be led around and screwed with by a guy who doesn't seem to give a fuck about the situation." He'd shake his head and lean back. "Man. I'm not even that mad its your kid. But even as I sat here confronting you on it, until I outright declared it was you, you felt the need to lie."

"Your not sorry I had to find out like this, your sorry I found out in the first place." He'd shake his head.

[22:04:35] "..." The glowing eyes of Thom glanced at Yorrick as he spoke, though there would not be a frown, or any sort of smile on his face. All he seemed to be doing was thinking until eventually he would speak up. "Yorrick? Let me ask you something. Shoud I have ever tried to be a hero in the first place?"

"I can't save anyone. I can't help anyone. Everything I do ends with people getting hurt, or people dying. I couldn't save people during the war at the Citadel and despite what 'power' I have, I doubt I can save anyone now.. I couldn't even save the firekeeper from herself when she headed to Nostvale."

"And I can't comfort anyone without hurting others. Marina asked me to come to her house in Frostvale, and I thought she looked at me as if I was one of her own kids. I couldn't push her away because if I reject anyone I hurt them. Ancillia lost all her childhood friends.. She cried and looked to me for comfort. If I turn either one of them away I hurt them.."

He stopped suddenly. "But.. Maybe Weiss was right. Maybe hurting people is the only thing I'm good for anyways..."

[22:10:33] He would sigh and pinch the bridge of his nose. Calming down slightly and leaning back, giving an honest chuckle as he pulled out a flask and took the drink, the first time he had touched alcohol since the celebration following the war. "Can honestly say I never thought our lives would end up like this...." He'd say, his tone sounded almost bitter.

"Theres nothing stopping you from being a hero. Heroes do the right thing Thom. I understand man, you didn't want to hurt anyone, but now you've got one person already hurt, and your going to have to hurt one more before this is over with."

"Hurting people isn't all your good for, but you need to own up to your mistakes. You have a son, and the mother currently believes she's still in a relationship with you, while your off with some Ookami girl and refusing to hold your own fucking kid while you guys were on the roof, yes, I saw that."

"Break it off with the Ookami, and go be with Marina." The words hurt to say and one could easily find some level of pain in his voice, as it was not something he wished to say, he wanted to be selfish, but he wouldn't let himself be. "Go be with the mother of your child, and go be with your child."

"Ancillia is friends with my brother as well. He can pick up the pieces. You fucked up, you need to do the right thing. And if you don't....." He wouldn't finish the sentence. The look on his face was one of depression, this wasn't a conversation he had ever thought he'd be having.

[22:22:30] "... I didn't either. I thought I would be dead by now." No sarcasm, no lies, just a morbid truth. "And no. Thats exactly the thing Yorrick." Thom swivelled on his seat, turning to face his friend. "I am completely incapable of doing the right thing. I can't save people when they're about to be killed by yokai. I can't save people when they decide to go into crazy dangerous situations.. And I can't even manage to keep people's hearts from breaking around me. Aside from my power to destroy I am absolutely worthless."

"And.. destruction.. my power.. isn't even anything remotely heroic. I learned it because my uncle said it would be good but.. I stare at the others, healing people, and I can't do a thing.. It's so frustrating.." A deep breath was taken in as he focused, seeming to think. "And what, am I supposed to turn around to Ancillia and tell her 'sorry, can't help you anymore, I know I was there when you were crying and hurting from Riri's death.. I know I was there when you hear about Weiss death, when you broke down in the middle of hte village, but I can't help you anymore.' Is that what I'm supposed to say?"

Silence for a few seconds before suddnely a grin came onto Thom's face. "Or, I could die right here." A hand moved to his glaive, taking it in his hands and putting the blade to his neck. "I could slice my own neck and be done with all the problem. I could destroy the most destructive thing I know. Me."

[22:29:20] He'd sigh. "Yeah you and me both." He'd say in regards to being dead. "I'm just waiting for it to come. It will. Soon. Nostvale knows I helped attack them. They'll send someone for me eventually. My days are quite possibly numbered." He'd shake his head.

"And you can still heal with dark magic. It just hurts the healer. And its not a good idea to use it on holy magi." He'd go to explain. "What you do is the spell Drain Life, but in reverse. Its about as good as holy healing is, but it hurts the user and leaves pretty nasty scars. Essentially you take on the pain and scarring from the injury, they get a scar as well obviously, but so do you. But still, its healing."

He'd roll up his pantleg and his sleeve, his knee was heavily scarred as was his right arm. "Marina's injuries when she got back from the war." He'd point to his leg, "Healing the severed area." And then to his arm, "Other basic injuries. It wasn't pleasant." His tone was dry.

When Thom asked what he was supposed to do, Yorrick would yet again sigh. "I'm not saying its going to be easy. But this is your chance to do something good for once, even if it hurts another. Yes, your to tell her that you can't be with her, your to tell her the truth perhaps. Maybe direct her towards Zain. Regardless, you get what I'm saying. You stick with the person who mothered your child, you leave the Ookami."

"You fucked up, you need to deal with it. Your not going to kill yourself, your not going to take the easy way out. You are Thom M. Takashi and your the strongest person I know. Your going to do the right thing, your going to be the hero you want to be, despite knowing it will hurt another."

"Because thats what heroes do. They make sacrifices, they do the right thing, even if it has negative impacts on them."

[22:38:43] "All our days are numbered." Thom would say, grinning a bit. "And yes I can heal with dark magic but it still hurts people. Its still destructive, still draining.." Thom would admit, a frown on his face. "Healing, but still.. not entirely right. Not entirely what I hope for."

A slight wince when Thom saw the injuiries, the red haired man not exactly used to the sight of such things. But when Yorrick sighed and told him what he needed to do, Thom once again became emotionless, or at least his face did. The glaive would still be pressed to his own neck as Thom shook his head.

"I refuse." The man would state simply. "I will not hurt people of my own will. I will always try to do things that will result in the least amount of pain. The only one who should suffer is myself.

I fucked up. But this isn't the easy way out. This is the way that won't break Marina's heart. This is the way that won't break Ancillia's heart. This is a way where both can possibly move on and find happiness." Did he honestly believe that or did he just want to die that badly?

"Strength is nothing if all I can do is destroy. And this is my sacrifice." With that said, the glaive would have been dragged across Thom's throat, causing for blood to spill out. A slight shaking from the pyromatic magic as they would fall out of their seat, a pain unlike other they had ever experinced taking hold of them.

[22:48:06] He'd shake his head. "Man, refusing to leave either of them is just going to hurt them even worse in the long run, I get you think your doing good by making that choice, but honestly your just making it wor- OH FUCK!!" He'd exclaim. He thought Thom was bluffing, and that he simply wouldn't leave either of them.

"Oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck!" He'd exclaim as he rushed over to Thoms side, "Not today fucker!" He'd exclaim as he extended a hand and would close his eyes, placing one hand over the wound on his neck to try and stop the bleeding, and the other to start casting.

He'd never healed a wound of this calibur though, an open fatal wound, this was... Well, this was going to be difficult, he honestly didn't know if he could pull it off, but damn it he was gonna try.

One hand would glow, as would the hand covering Thoms throat, and he'd start to cast. He could feel a seering pain in his throat as a scar began to appear on his throat, but slowly, the wound wasn't exactly easy to heal.

It would be up to fate to decide what happens from here on out, the look on Yorricks face was one of panic. "Kraus damn it, if you can hear me you don't fail me now, you've failed me so many times in the past, you do not fail me now, you let him live, god damn it you let him live." He'd say out loud, an open prayer to Kraus.

[22:54:04] Well, this is what he would get wouldn't he?

Sure, Thom suddenly agreed with Yorrick. He was definately one of the strongest magi in Cinderfall. With that came strong willpower, and when the willpower was for him to slice his own throat.. The Takashi didn't hesistate for a second. Blood spilled out of the open would and for a second his vision would go hazy and dark.

This is what he deserved wasn't it? He had fucked up.. Fucked up to the point where he should just die. That made sense to him.. Sure others might suffer from his actions but the fact was he at least wouldn't have to see their suffering, he wouldn't have ot see their pain.. While most people who wanted to die may regret after an attempt, Thom felt oddly at peace.

For a few minutes he would hear nothing. But then.. Slowly the darkness that envolped his view began to fade and hazy images began to come to his golden eyes. Was this it then? The world beyound Valmasia, beyound the planet?.. No, from the stench of his own blood it obviously wasn't.

".. The fuck.. Did I not.." The man then would be mostly silent, ocntinuing to lay in the pool of his own blood..

[23:00:03] He would grab the startled Thom by the collar, running along Yorricks throat was a long scar as though from a slash, it did not look as though it was achieved without a great deal of pain.

"Listen here fucker." He'd say. "You don't get to take the easy way out." He would growl, "You fucked up, you deal with it. If you kill yourself, you break both there hearts, they blame themselves, at least one of them is gonna run away or off themselves."

"You refuse to leave either of them? Then when they find out, and they will find out, then you hurt them even more then you would of if you'd of left one of them. Understand me? Do you realize how horrible they'd feel? To realize you were screwing around behind there backs?"

"Your going to own up to your mistakes, and your going to leave the Ookami. Your going to be a father, your going to be there for your son. You think I LIKE saying this Thom? You think I like telling you to be with the one person I actually feel some level of connection with beyond a familial or friendly one? You think I like telling you to go be with her?"

"Well if you do, your fucking wrong. But it is the right thing to do, and its what your going to do. Or I swear to Kraus above...." He'd leave the threat open. "Your going to break it off with the Ookami. Your going to be with Marina, your going to live with your mistake, your going to raise your son, and we're not going to let the public know this little situation ever went down."

"I'll just tell them I got drunk and hurt myself, its not as though I'm taken very seriously around here anyway. Your going to do whats right. Understand me?"

[23:06:52] Oh geez, blood loss just made Thom super dizzy. The boy blinked a few times, looking up towards Yorrick and seeing the long scar across his neck. For a few seconds he looked as if he were about to say something, but didn't still adjusting from slicing open his own throat and the not being allowed to die.

Yorrick was mad. That much was clear. But the more he spoke the more and more Thom would seem to shake his head. The glowing eyes stared into Yorrick's and the man would speak up once more. "I refuse. I will not hurt either of them in that way. If you insist I will slice my neck open again and leave myself to bleed out. I WILL NOT HURT EITHER MARINA NOR ANCILLA." The red head stated.

"I'll die before I break their hearts." Surely after that last attempt Yorrick would know he was not bluffing. "I won't hurt anyone.. The only one I will hurt is me.." The mantra would be said muitiple times, perhaps even the words seeming to blur together as he did so.

[23:12:00] He would let go of Thoms collar and take a step back. "By refusing to leave either of them, you hurt them both worse than you could of if you'd of left them. By killing yourself you do the same."

"I won't let you continue to fuck around, I won't let you leave them both in the dark. Thom, your my best friend man... But no. Your, your doing the right thing...." His voice was heavy with uncertainty

"I.... You.... You need to do the right thing..." He seemed to be on repeat at this point. "I.... You'll always be my brother Thom, but I can't let you...." He'd sigh and sit down.

"You need to do this man, you have got to. You need to leave one of them, at least one of them. Or...." He'd sigh. "Well, I got lucky healing you once." He'd say, guilt hung clear on his voice, he didn't know how to proceed. "I....." He'd sigh and place his hand on his forhead, leaning on the table and simply staring at it.

Noticeably not making a move towards Thom who he knew wasn't bluffing, he didn't know what to do.

[23:18:49] Thom frowned, looking at Yorrick. With the drakanite having let go of his collar the red haired man would have slowly risen to his feet, still adjusting to the blood loss he had just suffered. His glowing eyes looked to Yorrick with fearsome determination. "No. I will not do something that hurts either of them. If you push this anymore.." Thom's hand already started reaching for the glaive but he was shaky and accidently kicked it further away.

"I'll end it.. I guess.. Next time I'll put it through my eye or something if slicing my neck doesn't work." Thom said, before falling onto one of the seats and breathing deeply. The whole event had deeply winded him in all honesty but he wasn't exactly going to stop.

"I'll talk to them. I can tell them each about it or something. And if we can't come to an agreement, then I'll end it." It appeared that the death mantra was still in the back of his mind. It was going to be rather difficult to convince him to do anything he didn't want to it seemed..

[23:23:05] He narrowed his eyes. "I never took you for a coward Thom. Your going to hurt them both so fucking badly." Anger rose in his voice. "You....." His tone sounded disgusted.

"You won't own up to your mistake, you'd rather die. And as a result, regardless, because you won't own up to it people are going to suffer, and that will be on you."

"If you were to end your relationship with one of them, there would be suffering yes, but we are fucking teenagers, we recover. Ancillia would recover, she would go to Zain, it would be fine. But your not going to do that. Because your fucking selfish, you want BOTH" He would say.

"You..... You fucking disgust me. You break it off with them Thom. Or I'll tell Ancillia myself. And we'll see how it goes down after that." He would say, clearly threatening his friend.

"I never thought you'd fall so far. Become such a fucking coward." He'd shake his head. "Willing to hurt the people you care about. And yes, thats what your doing. Your going to come to an agreement, which isn't going to work, because both want to be with you and both want equal amounts attention."

"Or your going to kill yourself, because hey, who cares if you hurt people so long as your not around to deal with it, so long as your not around to see the hell you've put them through."

[23:31:37] A coward, disgust.. Such things were hurled towards Thom and it only seemed to drive him to reach for the glaive further. The golden hues simply looked at Yorrick. "If you're going to call me a coward and say I disgust you then I'll fucking die already, Yorrick. A coward should not be someone in the Eternal Flame. Someone disgusting should not be in the Eternal Flame. And if Cinderfall is all I am, and I'm not welcome in it I will end it."

The words came out pretty calmly. Perhaps interesting but even how it was said, it wasn't a bluff. "Besides you said it yourself. We'll recover. People will die and we'll recover.. But let me tell you something Yorrick... I guess I'm not like you. When my uncle beat one of my friends to near death I never recovered. When I saw all those people die at the citadel I never recovered. When I heard that the people I could have saved from being executed died, I never recovered.

I'm a coward, I'm disgusting, and I don't heal. So I might as well die shouldn't I?"

[23:38:27] He'd shake his head. "Fine, we don't recover. We adapt. Your going to hurt them so fucking badly... Your just gonna continue.... I looked up to you man, you were something to aspire to be. Not anymore."

"And not because you can't heal, and not because you fuck up a lot apperantly. No, because when faced with a problem you can easily fix that'll only cause some temporary suffering, you refuse."

"I get it Thom, you've seen some shit. Guess what, a teenage breakup isn't as bad as seeing your Uncle beat someone to near death, or seeing all those people die at the citadel, or not being able to save someone from execution. Its a lot fucking different."

"They are going to suffer worse than they ever would if you were to leave one of them. And your going to let them....." He'd shake his head. "Do what your gonna do, this conversation never happened, I promised Marina I wouldn't tell anyone, for her sake, not yours."

"I wonder what people would think though. Seeing what the person so many of them look up to is really like, the great Thom Takashi. Willing to hurt the people he loves through inaction and fear."

"Do what your gonna do. You were my brother Thom, I loved you. But this?.... This is too much. You could handle the situation so easily, ease the suffering. But you won't. And nothing I say will convince you otherwise."

"Do what your gonna do, if you continue to hurt them... if you continue to hurt her.... You won't need to end your life, cause I'll fucking do it for you. Goodbye." And with that he would turn to the door.
